The Black Donnellys from 1800s Upper Canada ( Ontario ) is an historical true crime story of a similar nature.

An absolutely fascinating chunk of not well-known (but should be) both New York history & that of America at large, its arresting (!) visuals & engaging reenactments accompanied by (sometimes a touch loudly) atmospheric music that transports the viewer almost dreamily back to a time & place of placid landscapes trodden by warring factions who sought the mastery of the properties for both good & bad purposes. The evocative narration of an excellent script recounting these events truly keeps the ear hooked on every word, no less hungry for more than tummies of residents & travelers for food from those fertile lands. It's a production of seriously Finest Kind quality, with "heartiest congratulations" all around to all involved whose Tireless Work yielded such hopefully award-winning results.
However, with all of that going for it, there just would be 1 glaring flaw to these proceedings that is an irritating distraction, more of an interruption to the flow of the story than a complement to it, at which - given its frequency of occurrence - I became as exasperated by them as by the mere sight of some latter-day ripoff of established "legacy" filmed productions that are a tarnished blight upon their originality, in more recent people's efforts to remake these ideas in their own images. By the most Mere Coincidence I refer to a clutch of space operas, far removed from the heyday of the horse version: Star Trek, Battlestar Galactica & Star Wars (Lost In Space i have only read about but "marry, 'tis enough" for that to qualify alongside these other violators). What that is which undermines these efforts are most of the interviewees, who for people One May Presume have some square of "high-class toilet paper" on a wall proclaiming them to have a certain level of Kollege Knowledge are ghastly inelegant, even inarticulate, in what they relate. "U NO" is the worst offender, with "EYE TEENK" hardly a distant second; having been picked to speak on subjects about which they put themselves out as knowledgeable on, their vocal output often falls significantly short of that mark. And the old head that actually authored some book or other just doubles up on his less than enthralling words by speaking in a grainy drone guaranteed to make people walk out (or click over) to escape that noise. My scraped nerves soothed by a certain quantity of Truly vodka & raspberry juice, I almost grimly stuck it out through these C-grade babblings because of that narration, & the story he told more so, as well the modern-day family, whose legitimacy in these matters leaves all others as mere speculators. There having thus been too much of an "ordeal" factor in sitting through this that had nothing to do with the myriad details of the story, I do not know if I could tolerate - for such it would be - a 2nd showing. "It is most regrettable" as a result, but these people's vacillating ways - Great Caesar's Palace, more than once somebody emptily invokes "U NO" 3/4 times in barely 10 seconds!!! - it would need to be, in Fred Flintstone's wise words, "a long long time" from now. Yep, too bad for sure. But (insert brightened expression & outlook) being so well-made otherwise, this must not be the creators' only such project; hopefully a little, er, digging around will prove that! But now it's on to find another slice of history which ingredients will *all* prove palatable, subject aside - ",but only to a certain point," as Spock said, since while informative, accountings of war & crime & literal Ancient History don't exactly make the tastiest of treats for the mind. As old gal said 2 dozen years ago, though, "Preservation doesn't mean just saving the cute ones." So also goes being well-informed. Happy info seeking to all, & "fare you well wherever you may fare!" in the process. 🥂👍📿🥳

I love how YT people glorify and make heros out of their thugs and criminals. Not one comment calls these people subhuman or blames it on the “culture”.
