Ok, when you said you were boiling your ham hocks and other soup meat, I subscribed! I appreciate that you thoroughly clean your greens. I watched your other video on the beef short ribs, mac n cheese and cabbage. You are a true hometown soul food cook!
That pot is a keepsake Miss Carrie, they don't make them like that anymore. Hold on to it! You bringing back memories with the rutabagas. The previous owners to my childhood home grew rutabagas in the garden. My mom kept the garden going so we always had them, along with collard, turnip and mustard greens. Dinner looks amazing!
You cook just like my little white country granny ! And THATS a great complement !!! Everything meal you cook is just like hers, except you are much younger than she was. Thank you for reminding me of her and the wonderful meals she used to prepare for me and grandpa. I am your newest subscriber !
God bless you Ms. Carrie you did it this time WOW those turkey wings looks delicious 😋 thanks for sharing the history of your mother pot my mom passed away 3 years ago at the age of 97 and she got married in 1947 and yes l have some of her pots as well and they cook so well l cry when l use them again thanks sharing. sharing
Awesome, looks so delish!!! You know you be throwing down. I have never had rutabaga before. I will try it. I loved the personal story about the greens pot. Tradition tradition tradition is so important. So much soul in that food!!! God bless you and your family.
This is my second time seeing you and your videos. I saw you for the first time yesterday. Your Short ribs, cabbage, macaroni and cheese with cornbread look so delicious! Great story about your mom, dad and the pot! I’m sure this video will also be great! One of my mother’s favorite seasonings was the Lipton Onion Soup mix. My great grandmother and grandmother loved rutabagas. They would be sooo delicious when either one of them cooked them. I love them and was so proud of myself when I cooked them on my own… delicious!
Hi Miss Carrie, new subbie here. As I was scrolling through you tube I came to a screeching halt when I saw this title. My mother would always prepare this dish for me on my birthday. Turkey wings, turnip greens mixed with mustard greens, and I love love loved me some rutabagas. I have been watching and enjoying your cooking sessions because you cook foods the way my Mom used to cook. Thank you.
Hi Mrs. Carrie, Blessings to you and your family, this wonderful Lord's day. I love watching, your expressions are hilarious They are expressions(sounds) we make when we are eating us some G-O-O-D ole food. "It's a Black thing"and we don't play about our food, you have to cook it right, a certain way. Radabagas are one of my favorite veggies along with those turnips and mustard greens you cooked, look so delicious. When are you cooking some Salmon Crockets with orka tomatoes, corn ( add shrimps when eating this as a meal) This all remind me so much of my mom's cooking. On Sundays, she would cook a spread of my favorite dishes,, especially if she knew I was traveling down to visit and just like your mom's pot, I too cherish those fond wonderful memories from mom.
Yes! So many stems in bagged greens! WHY??? And it is stressful trying to pick them out. I dont think it saves time since with the turnip bunches, you can cut that center stem out and chop the leaves. Greens are worth IT though!! Your dinner looks amazing and so downhome like all my grandmas, aunts, daddy, mother and Big Mama [my dear stepmom] cooked in Georgia. I watch you to relax and motivate me. Made cabbage and fried okra and candied yams and pinto beans this week. Ima try your squash casserole any DAY!! TY for your wisdom and art and your comforting way of talking
MRS CARRIE I JUST FOUND YOU , AND I SURE INTEND TO KEEP WATCHING YOU I LOVED THE MAC ;CHEESE AND SHORT RIBS WHI❤CH I LOVE I MAKE THEM OFTÈN ALSO I LOVE RICE TO MY GRANDAUGHTER BROUGHT ME SWEET RICE TODAY OK MRS CARRIE I LOVE Y❤O❤U AND WATCHING YOU ❤❤😊😊
I’ve had Collard greens with rutabaga and they were delicious! Going to try them as a side. I have made turnip bottoms and smoked neck bones which are awesome… You must try these. Turkey looks amazing!😊
Yes, Yes, Yes!!!! Those stems bother me today. I only buy the bagged greens when I make that last minute decision to have greens as part of my Sunday dinner. I always tell myself that "I Will Not Buy Bagged Greens Again!" Your dinner looks incredible. Thank you so much for sharing all of your recipes, tips, advice, and joy of cooking with us❤
Hi Carrie I’m with you about those bag greens I hate all those stems I try not to buy the bags it’s drive me crazy too haha I love your Moms Pot Thanks For Telling Us The Sweet Story about the Pot Your dinner looks Delicious as usual
Just found your channel and already in love since I'm just starting my cooking journey. I was thinking about your pot and you read my mind. Can you tell me what you use to keep it so clean? Thanks in advance and i really appreciate your videos.
Mrs. Carrie , dinner looks good as always. That stockpot is a steal, I would love to have one. I have to try the rutabagas. I have never taste them. Turnips look good. Did you ever announce the winner for the contest.
Hello I never had a rutabaga before. What does it taste like? I was searching for a cornbread dressing recipe and I like your recipe the best and I like the way you cook. New Subscriber 😊
Just came across your video when you made the short ribs, and enjoyed it so much, that i continued on to watch the turkey wings. ( my mother was from Savannah Georgia) I have never ever ever, commented on a video before, BUT I enjoyed your cooking so much, which reminds me of how i grew up, ( and I’m no spring chick) and how i do it, i had no choice but to tell you, well done! The only thing i never knew how to do was turkey wings, now i know, AND it’s gonna be on Sunday’s menu. One question though, did they get that beautiful color after you removed the foil, and brown under broiler, or were they brown already beneath the foil. Either way, keep cooking, you have gained a new fan! Signed Yvonne W.
Mrs. Carrie; I cook turkey wings in a simular way but I have the really large wings. I've never seen turkey wings of this size. Where do u get them or did u mean to say chicken wings all this time. If not, what kind comes so small? If I may ask...
Hi Joyce. These are Turkey wings. I buy them from a small meat store where I live. Although they are small, I have the butcher cut them in half. I don’t like the really large Turkey wings. They are not as tender to me. I also don’t care for the drums. They are sold separate and I only buy flats and tips. Thanks for watching!
I see black Americans cooking greens but don't they eat any other vegetables? There are carrots, beets, broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, beans, all kinds of vegetables, so why don't they use them?
Obviously you haven’t seen my videos. I cook pretty much every vegetable there is. And if we as black people do eat greens, so what. They’re good for you as well. Have a seat!

What are the greens you use?
Sometimes more stems than greens!
I’m curious whether that pot is made by Revere Ware?
Mrs. Carrie; I cook turkey wings in a simular way but I have the really large wings. I've never seen turkey wings of this size. Where do u get them or did u mean to say chicken wings all this time. If not, what kind comes so small? If I may ask...

I don’t like stems either. 😂 I guess because it’s how my mother taught me therefore I cannot buy those bagged greens.
I don't like the bag greens either too many to pick out. Pigtails are my .but I love to put all of the meat 🍖 in my greens 😋
Yes ma’am. Thanks for watching!
I like a few stems
The bagged greens seem to have more stems than leaves.
Yes ma’am! Thanks for watching!
I'm not a big fan if rutabagas but I would eat your version everday and all day.

Yes ma’am those stems are horrible! I don’t like bagged greens either. They are more work.😊
Thank you Jesus for your mother's pot.
Yes ma’am. Thanks for watching!
Ok Ms. Carrie. You had me until you put the mayo on the turkey wings lol. What is the reason for that and can you use butter instead of mayo?
❤
