Motobe's loss to the sumo guy makes sense if you consider he's the Inverse of Ali Jr. Motobe can't fight to his full potential unless it's a 'real' fight with his life on the line. He fought well against the Ogre because any fight with him can be a death sentence.
There no doubt Motobe a tactical genius, but I personally would wait until Netflix adapts the Musashi storyline before definitely saying where they ranks, considering how much light official translations shined on Pickles and Katsumi capabilities.
Honestly something that could make the Jack vs Motobe rematch much more interesting and make it seem like both fighters can put each other in serious trouble is somehow Motobe revealing he can do imaginary slashes just to get at Jack mentally since it’d take way more effort for him to do it purely physically with Jack’s newer and improved body
