    Try blowing and only playing while you blow, as a saxophonist or trumpet player would, does wonders for your phrasing. great video

      @jobiy1999 7 лет назад +3

      deltadaz a very good tip for any instrument. Frank Sinatra learned how to breath while he's singing from watching his favorite trombonist play

      deltadaz Except if you're a trombone or tuba player as well, you're going to be blowing for one or more songs. LOL.

      As a low brass major and guitarist, I second this. Really makes you think more about where you're trying to go musically.

    • @deltadaz

      Well without putting guitarists down, the average saxophonist can solo the shit out of the average guitarist, a lot of that comes down to phrasing, I think it was The great holdsworth who wanted to play sax but could'nt afford it. so tried to make the guitar as saxophone like as he could.
      Another good one is to sing the notes you play.

    Again another post from me. You really have a laid back way of teaching. I truly like the passion that you have for guitar. I can tell that you love that 'lectric twanger. And btw, you do have some savory axes.

    I really like that u always pik 5 of the most important aspects of what ur lesson is about. Its not a thumbnail that says like 35 tips to instantly make u a rock god!!!! And the vid is 45mins long.lol. 5 tips for ____. Ok i can focus, learn them, and practice them. Very nice.

  • @OTCRock4one
    @OTCRock4one 7 лет назад +2

    I thought that sounded like Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover! Can you play that song? The tone you have on the amp you're playing through sounds sweet! Equally as important, I completely agree about "Ears get exhausted" as you put it, I call it Ear fatigue. Players that try and fit as many notes in the given bars afforded them, don't let the solo breathe!
    Some guitarist seem to play scales for solos with no feeling which leaves the audience not remembering half of the notes they heard from a solo. Players like Tom Sholtz from Boston and David Gilmour from Pink Floyd and Eric Johnson just to name a few, play memorable solos!

    Robert Baker Hey man, great vid as usual! Cant wait to check out the EJ lesson. Love the idea of a vid everyday! Maybe it will get me practicing everyday again. One thing I wanted to ask you was, would you be willing to maybe add a looper pedal in some of your lessons? like on this lesson when you say "If you were playing this" then loop it for us while you play the lead over it?

    Robert that some great advice. I appreciate it. Let me ask you a question the tone that you're using in this video would you use that live straight out the box like you're doing now or would you have to change it up and EQ it a little bit for your location that you're playing at. Or in other words, does this tone work for your live gigs?

    Also be adventurous by throwing in random notes during a lick, as long as you land on a root note, nothing is wrong. ;)

    • @pilotamurorei
      @pilotamurorei 7 лет назад

      hell even playing a note out of the song's key is perfectly fine if it fits what you're doing.

    • @christophharriso653
      @christophharriso653 7 лет назад

      And I have learned that if a lick doesn't work the way you wanted, just do it over again.. some symmetry can camo a screw up and even help you add something into the jam that you didn't think of before.

  • @MrVepe47
    @MrVepe47 7 лет назад +1

    Can you do a lesson for bending strings? Everytime I bend the other strings get under my fingers so that when I release the bend, the strings ring out in a very uncomfortable way.

    • @AliceWallace2
      @AliceWallace2 7 лет назад

      Well, for me at least, getting rid of that is really just to do with muting.

    • @ReserveForTwelve
      @ReserveForTwelve 6 лет назад

      Either mute the string with your picking hand or when bending the string try to place your finger in a way that "separate" the two strings. I tend to hit the lower string upper on my finger, kind of like a double bend.
      Anyhow, you will find a way that fits you. Good luck :)
