Korean spas in Ktown LA are one of my FAVORITE things to do in all of Los Angeles. I only hate it when there are non Koreans (like me, I’m not Korean) who don’t research/ respect the culture of it and talk VERY loudly in every treatment room. It’s incredibly rude. I like to take people there for the first time. My favorite is taking girls who have really bad / sad feelings towards their bodies. I explain how at the spa bodies are just bodies. Young, old, all shapes and sizes. Entire families. Nobody is checking each other out or judging. It’s just natural. Relaxed. They are always terrified at first. They aren’t used to being totally naked, but then they fall in love with how it makes them feel. Connected to and enjoying their bodies without worrying how they look. Lots of body neutrality vibes (which is rare for Los Angeles) . Everyone I take there falls in love with going and gets addicted. They always feel better about themselves, a couple girls actually cried. Plus, if you do everything including hot/ cold treatments you leave feeling amazing! Like your skin is humming 😂 And it’s right up there with beach day or hiking day for me. A perfect girlfriend hangout day including eating at the restaurant and relaxing on the rooftop to chat and catch-up. And if I’m in the market for a massage, it’s one of my top places to get one. ❤️❤️❤️
Anna, I love this series. There is a very small jjimjilbang in NYC's Ktown, which is the only one I know of in the NYC area that is 24 hrs. Most are early morning to late evening. Went to an upscale one in New Jersey called SoJo which was really nice. Many of the same amenities that you've shown, but of course super pricey. Weekday entry alone is $125, post pandemic prices. There is a more traditional jjimjilbang called King Spa a few miles away that looks and feels similar to the one you went to. Also, much more affordable at $49 for weekday.
If you ever go to Poland we have a salt cave called Wieliczka everything is made out of salt tables chandelier chairs great place for people with respiratory issues
Oh so much fun! Your brave to do the Igloo room and the super hot room! It looked uncomfortable even though you probably felt like a million bucks after! Such a fun video! 👍 Love your cool girl series! 🫶
It looks so fun and relaxing! Just like Anna to be the fashionista wherever she goes. Your videos are so versatile and getting better as you go along. Keep up the great work! Hope you have your friend in more of your videos. She seems really fun.
Luv this vlog. We have a similar place here in the Chicago area. King Spa. A Korean sauna place. Same, start with shower, hot tubs, strange sauna etc. Men and women separate. Cause, ya naked. But yes they give towels and short/shirts. Main room has a movie theater with large leather recliners. A restaurant with cooked and other food/drinks. 8 different sauna rooms. Temps and what they are made of. Very cool. Plus an oxygen room and an ion room. And a sleeping room for overnight. Before pandemic I would go average of 3x a month with my boyfriend. Plus for extra $ you can get different personal massages too. Yeah. I love being pampered!
Hi Anna, I live in Queens NY and I visited my a jjimjilbang before the pandemic. The name is Spa Castle. It did close twice. Once because of an accident and again because of the pandemic. But it is open now. I spent a whole day with friends for my birthday. No everyone came because they didn't feel comfortable. But I had a great time. I even got a special head to toe massage and body scrub. I haven't been back since the pandemic. I do plan to go back. Seeing this video makes me want to visit it again. Thanks for sharing. Have a great day.
Just wanted to share with you that SoJo Spa Club in NJ is worth the trip if you haven't been!! I haven't gone back to Spa Castle since learning about SoJo. It's more Americanized and is nudity optional for your shy friends, but the facilities are super luxurious.
Hi Anna. Thanks for your video and recommendation, I visited this jjimjilbang last night and had an awesome experience. Went in at around 5pm and left at 11pm. We used the massage chair, saunas and ice room. But my absolute favorite was having the body scrub and massage done by the ajumas in the bath area. An amazing experience. As a foreigner I quickly got over my self consciousness and enjoyed the entire experience. I’d definitely recommend a visit to anyone visiting Seoul. Thanks again and Anna.
I've never been to a bathhouse, but it looks like fun, especially if you were doing a "girls-night-out". I think if I lived in Korea I'd be as-big-as-a-house... the food looks sooooo good, especially the fried chicken. Anna, you do a great LIVE show as well. In America, many people have spas or pools, so I'm not sure a public bathhouse would do well in the US, and if they had public bathhouses, so much of the stuff would be stolen. So the price of the spa was $12.50, but I wonder about the price of the food.
Wow, this is so interesting. We have nothing like that here in 🇲🇽. Thank you so much for sharing! I hope I get to visit and experience this someday🙏 Love your videos! 💜
Anna! You just answered a question that I always had lol, because I knew people shower first and then go to the sauna, but they never mention (and never show in kdramas) that they also shower after the sauna! I mean, it might be common sense, but I always had the doubt because they really never mention it and -for me- it wouldn't feel clean going out after being in those hot saunas sweating 🤣 Great video, thanks for the full korean sauna experience 😄
I am relocating to Korea in 3 weeks with family and we are looking forward to heading to a Korean steamroom soon. Thanks for sharing and it's such a great insight into Korean bathing culture. New subscriber you have and looking forward to more videos.
In here same thing happened to our saunas. After WW2 we had lots of public saunas. But now almost everyone have private saunas, in their home or cabin. In here transition was really fast. Since Finland has lost of space to expand their houses. So we have the room in our housings for Saunas. What i hear from koreans is that most people live in small apartment's that just don't have room for saunas. So many Families go spend time in Jjimjilbangs in weekend, and enjoy wide spaces that Jjimjilbangs offer.
this looks sort of dreamy & nostalgic like a fever dream in some ways. it kind of the has the same vibes as certain pictures from the "dreamcore/weirdcore" genre if u know what i mean. i love it, the big open space, the colorful lights in certain areas, the feeling of it being like a giant school but without the teachers/false matrix/inorganic overlay aspects of it just freedom to play around, explore, relax.. no studying no working a job no responsibilities in this one moment, the liminal feeling of it all. to anyone who may stumble upon this comment, this earth is in the midst of a huge shift, many are waking up & theres now videos with hundreds of thousands of views on people speaking of the reincarnation cycle, prison planet, the energy harvesting, 9-5 slavery, spiritual war that's been happening but we're evolving in consciousness & many are awakening now. may we all be free & liberated from this world & our pure eternal beautiful playful souls be free to explore jimjilbangs & all the other playgrounds & places & realms in all of Creation ~
This was such a super interesting and informative video! Thanks for taking us along 😊. Will definitely consider trying a Jjimjilbang if I get a chance to visit Korea.
Hi Anna, so nice to see what I experienced in Corea around 13 yrs ago. Am 74 now and my group of Corean friends I was with were all 10 yrs younger. And for sure nice and thin, and I had my natural Canadian bulges but no one made me feel bad. I was super pleased to see a cpl of heavy set ladies in there, yeah! All shapes and sizes…so watching “King the land” and their experience is so much fun. This was my 1st time in a smaller city more in the south of Corea. Then when in Yongin-si, I went there with a young friend, younger than my sons, she was maybe 35 then with her hubby so there I saw more of all the many many types of rooms, hot or cold and a very large room for everyone, whole family friends that had a snack bar and even soju & beer. What an awakening for someone like me from Victoria, small city. But I don’t know if there are any in larger cities in the eastern parts of my country where over 10,000 Coreans live, like Toronto. The Corean culture is so friendly and wonderful, I stayed 6 months my 1st time, didn’t wanna come back home. Went back twice but no jimjilbangs those times. But 노래방 yes. I could never pay back all the friendliness I receive there from dozens of people I met. My friends kept introducing me to more and more of their friends but, I don’t have many friends. So…when they came here…I did my very best. Anyway, I’ll continue watching your fun videos. Thanks so much. Oh I just saw there is one in Toronto. Wow.
i always saw these saunas in k-dramas when the son or the Daughter gets in a big fight with there parents & he/she runs away from Home and stays at a Sauna i always wondered: can you actually sleep there or its only in the dramas they do that ?! But it seems like you can sleep there (i learned something New today) i really enjoyed this video 😊
Hi Anna, greetings from Finland. Thanks for sharing. A question: outside the bathing area can you wear indoor slippers? I noticed you went bare foot, but I would prefer to go around with indoor slippers on wherever possible. I noted down the address and will try it out next time I visit Seoul. Thanks!

The changing room+hot tubs are segregated, but the communal areas where you have clothes on, everyone can be there! The guys wear blue versions of what we were wearing lol
For me, living in Europe, it is quite weird to see that you wear clothing inside of it and that it’s sex segregated. For a couple or family that’s a downside and I’d prefer being naked since it’s better for your skin as well. But I would like to try to experience anyways, the variety is impressive!

so it is true that we can stay overnight in jjimjilbang?
Can i come with my 4 yr old daughter??
is it safe to try the sauna? if in case the door will not open, is there an emergency button? goin in SoKor this May

Even though there were many houses with bath facilities in Korea in the 1980s, it is different to do it in a large bath sauna facility
Hot springs are one of the bath facilities
There are many public baths in Japan
My house also had a bath facility in the 1980s, but I went to a public bath There must have been in the 1980s, but in the 1990s, there were many large saunas with various bath facilities in Korea
I think Korea and Japan have the most advanced public bath facilities

Do you have to get naked in the public bathhouse? Or can you opt for a private shower instead?

For me, living in Europe, it is quite weird to see that you wear clothing inside of it and that it’s sex segregated. For a couple or family that’s a downside and I’d prefer being naked since it’s better for your skin as well. But I would like to try to experience anyways, the variety is impressive!
You can go as a family! Only the changing area+the bathhouse is sex segregated but you can meet each other in the communal areas :)
@@anna.lee_jy That’s a bummer with the bathhouse! Are there no mixed facilities in general? Thanks for answering :)
Nope. LOL
I don't think I've ever seen someone call themself "cool" in a video.
You make good vids, but please change some of your titles.
