the song is talking to their “old self” that’s why you see two of them,, saying their past self was so happy and smiley and now it’s like it’s painful to smile and their old self is lost ( someone can add more to the message
flourishingchan (to add on) their old self was ignorant to the world around them, thinking earth was one big happy place. Their old self was happy. But as time passed, the bright playfulness of childhood was replaced with stress and anxiety. MIA usually stands for Missing In Action (ex. A soldier disappears while serving). Their cheerful and naive personality has gone, even though they are still young. That’s why it’s called MIA. They want to stay happy, so they try to tell their old self to not worry about the useless stuff, in an attempt to change who they are now. (At least, that’s how I interpreted it. Please correct me if there’s a more accurate interpretation)
in korean mia means lost child its about themselves that's why chan and Felix were both talking to themselves it is from the second album I am who xx you were close with the meaning just about themselves rather than someone else
So! Your interpretation of the message was pretty good, and that's what a lot of people get from the lyrics. But this is actually a song to themselves. They are talking to themselves seeing that they've changed and taken a turn for the worse, and they want to go back to the happier days. This ties into their theme of struggling with identity (which is showcased a lot, even in their album titles- I Am: Not, I Am: Who, I Am: You), and just wanting to find who they are and their place in the world. @stays who are smarter than me, please correct me if this whole thing is wrong :)
I know it's a reaction video but all the time I was looking to the lyrics and I couldn't stop my tears (which is surprising since I'm not a crying person AT ALL) I just felt so identified, like they were singing it to me (I mean, as if they were right in front of me and they knew my story so they're singing it specially at me)
Yay SKZ! Did you hear about their coming English releases? I'm so excited for it omg. I also hope you can react to Voices! It's such a deep, emotional and hitting song!!
Yaaaay I'm so excited for Stray Kids week :) So happy you kicked it off with MIA; as others have already explained the meaning of the song can be interpreted in many ways. It's one of my favorites from them both in sound and lyrics. Thanks for supporting Stray Kids!
I love your reactions sooo much bro especially when you mentioned stray kids the week before I was soooooo excited. Just wanted to tell you that I'll keep supporting this awesome channel so keep up the good work. Peace✌🏻❤
hi ben! i’m so glad to have been here since you reacted to the first stray kids vid you watched! also, just an fyi, stray kids has only one love song. most of their songs are messages towards the youth and inspirations addressing conflicting feelings and also, the stuff we don’t usually understand. mia is a song towards themselves. for example, chan is sitting across himself, singing his verse towards himself. as for the part in the song, “i miss you, i miss you” it meant he misses his old self. also, SKZ SHOWS ARE LIT! HOPE YOU ENJOY BEEEN! ❤️
*M.I.A : Missing In Action, them talking to themselves while reminiscing their old selves that's why they are recording/ talking to themselves in mirrors or videos + black & white outfits and the old Discs refer to the past ♡*
So I'm moving to another country this week and I'm super nervous, and straykids is my favorite group and you're my favorite reactor and I'm so happy it's skz week, I think it will really help me with my anxiety so thankyou ben💙
you’re pretty much right the only thing you said wrong was that they’re talking to a friend, but they’re actually talking to themselves thats why sometime they’re facing themselves
im so jealous that you get to see them LMAO i've been a stay since just after debut and havent seen them once, but that could be because they have no idea what a canada is
Me: sometimes I wish I lived in the US so I could see K-pop concerts too! The US: paying for school, The carrot trumpet, no gun laws, abort laws... Me: you know what, I think I will stay in Sweden for now...!
They're talking to themselves, like how they changed from the past- They say they miss their old selves but are not afraid to be who they are now... If u get what I mean xD
stray kids: **singing to themselves in the mv** ben: “they are probably singing about a friend” no biggie lot of people miss that during their first viewing i guess
tbh, I don't think really any of stray kids group songs are about romantic relationships. Yes, many lyrics in their songs can be taken and applied to relationships of any kind, but the groups main focus is one of self reflection, finding ones self and coming to terms with changes in yourself and growing as a person. This song in particular was each of them singing to a past version of themselves, or maybe even a future version, you can tell that from the lyrics and the video where each of them are shown sitting and facing themselves. And its true that many Korean groups have song that are mainly focused on romantic love and all that which is ok, but what drew me most to groups like stray kids, bts, and ate is that their main message is about things like loving yourself, finding yourself, self acceptance and growth, and other topics that go much deeper than just romantic feelings towards someone else.
There's a double meaning in the title of this song. Stray Kids pronounce M.I.A as Mi-A that is translated to 'Lost Kid' in Korean. It is, first of all, the group name 'Stray Kids' but it also means that they lost their old self who was bright and happy like a child. In the song they referred to themselves as 'you' I hope y'all understood what I'm trying to say lol
Yeah meaning-wise you almost got it down, except instead of talking to a friend, they're talking to themselves. In the beginning Chan was singing to himself, then thed double Felixes later. It's a sort of reminescence song, I think, looking back on how bright and naive they were as kids, singing to themselves now, as idols- Kind of like how being idols changed them, or something like that.
I am: very happy you liked it :) thank you! see you soon uwu
You really just made a Skz album joke, didn't you? GG
That is very good! Great comment. I didn't get it tell now.
the song is talking to their “old self” that’s why you see two of them,, saying their past self was so happy and smiley and now it’s like it’s painful to smile and their old self is lost
( someone can add more to the message
Mia also missing child in Korean and can mean Missing In Action in other places
flourishingchan (to add on) their old self was ignorant to the world around them, thinking earth was one big happy place. Their old self was happy. THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE VID : woojin
mia is stray kids best b side no cap
the way they recording themselves kind of showing they send the messages to themselves...their old self that is missing...
There's a double meaning in the title of this song.
Stray Kids pronounce M.I.A as Mi-A that is translated to 'Lost Kid' in Korean.
It is, first of all, the group name 'Stray Kids' but it also means that they lost their old self who was bright and happy like a child.
In the song they referred to themselves as 'you'
I hope y'all understood what I'm trying to say lol
that bogo shipuh hits different man
As always
It feels cringey to call someone charming outloud but Chan is literally just charming
Woojin 🥺🥺🥺
