The Greatest Artifact EVER

A mysterious artifact from college --- to whom did this mysterious little toy belong? What are the markings for? Is it a prototype?
Anyway, thanks to Mikko --- it's MINE NOW. It comes with 6 bongo sounds and a tempo knob.
