The impact that " VAN HALEN " had on every young teenager back in 1978, it was the BEST TIMES OF OUR LIVES!!! I can still remember putting the needle down on my turntable and hearing " RUNNING WITH THE DEVIL " for the 1st time!!! It was a game changer and nothing was ever the same again!!! VAN HALEN was the soundtrack to my teenage years and I would never have it any other way!!! My high school years and young adult life was still VAN HALEN and rock n roll!!! If you were a teenager in the late 1970s thru the 1980's, there was no better time to be a teenager and the music was the best of any decade!!! There will NEVER be another decade better than the 1980's and if you weren't there, you'll never understand... And VAN HALEN was the soundtrack to our young lives!!! I would never want it any other way!!! So glad I got to see VH back in the day... Wish I could go back in time, if only for a minute... Ahhh, the memories and music... I'll never forget it and thx Dave for this number...the music of VH will live forever!!! Thx for the music and the memories fella's...we wouldn't want it any other way!!! LONG LIVE EVH AND VAN HALEN!!!
So strange....listening to this and watching the video with all the pictures, I started to feel choked up and began to cry, feeling sad and glad for the memories at the same time. Never had a reaction like that to anything Van Halen/DLR did before, although "Damn Good Times" by Roth might have come close. I'm 62 and Van Halen was the music of my early 20's, saw them live three times. Such a great time in my life and Van Halen with David Lee Roth was there for all of it.
I dreamed about Eddie last night. We were eating cheeseburgers sitting at a counter in a diner. Somewhere. He didn’t say anything but he chowed down and had the biggest smile!
What an incredible collage of photos and eternal memories. What a band!! Eddie and David are like brothers: there’s fighting but lots of love deep down.
Ya know, I so, SO appreciate Dave for leaving this organic beauty live combo/performance available for all real and true VH fans. Thank you, Dave. Love you for this. Sounds so good with the added stuff. SO appreciative of your freakin' awesome and beautiful song here. Thank you, my good man, David Lee, never loved you more given Ed's passing.
It was the very best era to grow up in... Van Halen, BMX, no STDs, it makes me cry time to time knowing it is over and we will never get to see it again, but at least we have the memories....
So. Incredibly. Talented. Sad for future generations who will never see this amazing level of showmanship and just pure unadulterated rock stars again! 😍🎶🎸🤘VHF 4VR!!!!
Love all the old school pics I bet David is crushed Eddie died still can’t believe he died I’m still crying man Van Halen was a lot of our childhood and high school worlds and even as an adult Van Halen never gets old ❤️
The Loss of Eddie and Him Pouring His Heart and Soul Out through His Guitar... The Silence will forever be Deafening.. Eddie and Dave Made the World a Better Place for jyst having been... \m/
VH has been a huge part of my life's soundtrack since '78. Saw them on the '84 tour at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronna. Oct 6/2020 - saddest day in rock history. Still can't wrap my head around Ed's passing.
Exactly Robert. Great upbeat song for all of us Van Halen fans to remember Edward to. RIP Rock God. We miss you already. Such a great, brilliant musician. Overflowing with pure talent.
The Rainbow was my home away from home for 20 yrs. Mario, Tony & Miguel were like father and big brothers to me, feeding me when I was hungry while in college or bailing me outta jail for D&D now and then. Met and hung out with VH, GNR, Motley Crue, Lemmy, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Entwhistle, Jimmy Bane, Blackie Lawless, Penelope Spheeris, Alice in Chains, David Faustino, Chris Farley, Weird Al Yankovich - the list goes on. Good times.. the memories carry me through rough times these days.
Love how Eddie is looking at Dave at 3:22..he’s like Damn…….saw both the 2008 and 2012 tours which was a great way to bookend my first concert ever at 14 which was 1984 in 1984…time flies
My friends and foe of my favorite music generation,I can’t imagine growing up without VH in my life and I would do it all over again.EVH is in a great place now and I’m sure I will see him again on the other side.WVH, I hope your doing well and enjoying life because your father wouldn’t want it any other way.Until then, peace and prosperity and live it large my friends.Godbless
They wrote sound track of my high school years. 80’s Summers in the Florida Gulf coast having incredible experiences while Van Halen set the mood for the best of times. Makes me smile thinking about it.
I'd been listening to them since around 78. Saw them in concert once it was amazing well worth the ten bucks ... Dam this is a cool song but Depressing in some ways ... VH Rules!!!
I think with electric guitar sounds even better adds a fullness good tone has a blood and fire little guitars feel very well done co.ing from a drummer and huge vh halen dlr fan
What you created was iconic. The tribute to the Lennon (Roth) and McCartney (EVH) of modern times, their love and struggle with another but the joy of creation. You may have found your calling in life!
You can have a rotten day at work...go home get in the car flip the radio and when a Halen song came on ....it made me feel like a Friday night with friends partying... boy I miss those days
Great job! At 0:45 you can see them all wearing those wooden sole “clog boot things”. Noel Monk talks about them in his book “Runnin with the devil” from when he managed them. They loved those boots and saved up to get them. He said it was because of the KISS relationship. They NEEDED THEM to look cool on stage. 😂. According to Monk, that first show opening for Journey was a disaster. Their lighting guy was not there so Monk had to wing it himself. Apparently they were tripping over themselves and couldn’t move around smoothly because of them. Monk made it sound like it was an absolute catastrophe and they were about to be sacked from the tour, but Monk saved the day and got them to chuck the boots. 😂. That story just didn’t sound right, but they definitely had the boots. 🤷🏻♂️
What can you really say about about the impact these guys had on not just music, but our lives? We talked about them at school, and ran home to listen to them. We would argue over what was the best album, or song, and then a new album came out, and you started a new argument. I was a little younger than most back then(born in '71), but three older brothers made sure my ass was kicked on a regular basis, and I knew who the best band in the world was. Great bands have come and gone in the meantime, but if you weren't there, it is hard to understand how important they were to our culture.
A lesson from Eddie to all future guitarists ... when he grew up it was only him and his brother ... he had to learn to play the fills to all of the open spaces and what made him into ultimately the GOAT
Excellent addition to this song...love it! Really miss the Rainbow,we visited in 2019 from Scotland,UK for my 50th birthday.......what an amazing place, hope to get back in 2022.
David your kicking my ass here I have not even heard this yet of course I don't go on social media come and listen to music once in awhile but holy balls holy f****** balls God bless you and everyone to put this effort into this a unique musician musical style and I'm still digging that you rode your bike all over Tokyo screw Sammy I'm just saying that's my opinion much love for you buddy thank you so much for the years of music and rock and roll and the theatrical intelligence that you possess and share be safe peace to you and yours and all Eddie would be so happy and proud of this and I'm sure he's still listening today To Valerie and Wolfgang I cry every time I see his face and listen to his music I did get a chance to see them all live in concert is stuck around for two and a half hours just playing music Damn it I wish I could turn back time

@ yeah, the John5 sessions were after the 07/08 reunion tour but before the ADKOT sessions. Dave got sick of Ed sitting around on his hands doing nothing and wanted to use the energy from the tour to write and record. Same story as the 80s.
I’m 60. Man. We were lucky to have these guys in our teens. Best party music ever. Wow. Best times
Oh yeah exactly!!!!
Right on bro! Cruising with VH blazing on the cassette player!
Absolutely brother i just hit 51.. been listen to and rocking with these guys since i was about 12. One hell of a good run 😀😀

Ladies and Gentlemen a moment of silence please for EVH and the memories of the mighty Van Halen….

The most musically influencing guys in my life! Thanks Eddie and Dave for the Soundtrack to my life...
When Dave sing without Eddie, its like a sky without the sun.
Youngs and wilds, the life run so fast.
Great electric variation, this i love it.
Not always, but sometimes, I wish it was 1984 again. This is one of those times.
Can't believe I'm so old Eddie's gone and DLR can't sing anymore, however this was done perfectly
VH has been a huge part of my life's soundtrack since '78. Saw them on the '84 tour at Maple Leaf Gardens, Toronna. Oct 6/2020 - saddest day in rock history. Still can't wrap my head around Ed's passing.
Beautiful tribute DLR. Thank you for sharing this with the fans.
Thx Dave that was classy

Wow ! Those are some of the best pictures that I've seen in a long time of the boys.
I’m not sure how you can dislike that!
They wrote sound track of my high school years. 80’s Summers in the Florida Gulf coast having incredible experiences while Van Halen set the mood for the best of times. Makes me smile thinking about it.
Love this! This song has endless possibilities for covers! The mark of a truly great song!
I love DLR!!!!!
I'd been listening to them since around 78. Saw them in concert once it was amazing well worth the ten bucks ... Dam this is a cool song but Depressing in some ways ... VH Rules!!!
Nice touch whoever played electric first time hearing it like this 👍👍
I think with electric guitar sounds even better adds a fullness good tone has a blood and fire little guitars feel very well done co.ing from a drummer and huge vh halen dlr fan

Hegewisch Records , Calumet City , Illinois ..VH Signing Their 1st Album , I Was There 🤘🤘
This is my favourite song ever
Eddie loved to use harmonics when he played.... most people can't and what made Dave a unique singer was he could do same with his voice.
This song should have been on ADKOT. It was written and recorded before the ADKOT sessions.
@ yeah, the John5 sessions were after the 07/08 reunion tour but before the ADKOT sessions. Dave got sick of Ed sitting around on his hands doing nothing and wanted to use the energy from the tour to write and record. Same story as the 80s.
The Early Years!
