I saw Gregory Isaacs and the Roots Radics live around this time (was probably 81) one of the best shows I’ve ever been to. I remember there was a lot of talk in the press at the time about reggae not being proper music, something the band addressed on the stage. I remember before Gregory appeared on stage they did a small section of different musical styles, including Heavy Metal, just to prove a point. Make no mistake these guys were seriously talented musicians.

I saw The Itals with the Roots Radics in 82 or 83). I was similarly impressed, one of the best shows I've ever seen. Incredible band.

Definitely. The Roots Radics is one of the best bands of all time no question. Think about how many classic albums they've provided all of the music for. Hundreds and hundreds. I saw them backing Israel Vibration back in the day, and they were so tight and flawless, exactly like a band who have played together for decades would sound like. I really wish they would release this album on vinyl though.

So much reverb, just the right amount of echo, superbly mixed live, a recipe for musical reggae bliss!
But wouldn't you prefer a mix with a little less reverb? I would... I hope such a version exists or could exist one day since these are such great recordings otherwise.

This is just astounding...and RIP Gregory Isaacas, had three of his albums along with heap of other reggae on Vinyl..which I was sadly parted from years back...
And Roots Radics are the king of sound IMO , their dub stuff is amazingly great, I can't remember which Gregory albums I had, but does anybody remember a Roots Radics vinyl album which had on the cover three rasta's puffing pot behind a small building with their faces all peeking out and a policeman talking to their mate?..lost this too
