Laughed my head off watching this. Been going to Merritt since the 70's in the summer, first as a child with my parents and grandparents, and then as and adult with my wife and children. So many fond memories of fishing on that lake with my grandfather and father. Several times, we have had a fish take our bait and leave, snap, crackle pop. Never know what you might have, perch, bass (small mouth and big), pike, big cats and muskie. We always had trailers because the weather can change that fast in Nebraska, especially around that lake. Great place and not a lot of fishing pressure, not a lot of people around there. Valentine is considered a "big town", lmao. We were always fishing for walleye or perch, both were great eating. Again, just loved the video, what a surprise.
I grew up on that lake, always knew there were muskies there, just never specifically targeted them. This video series is inspiring me to go back and try! And I am a firm believer in catch and release wherever Muskie are concerned. There are better eating fish, let those big girls go free! So good on you for that.
That’s pretty neat! Thanks for watching and for supporting Keyes Outdoors. If you haven’t already, please download our KOTV app on Roku where you can watch all past episodes of Keyes Outdoors.
Great video. I'm glad to hear that everyone was so kind. Nebraska really is "the good life". I am hoping to catch some of those muskies from a kayak next week
Beautiful boat!! Thought I could throw you guys some shit.... haha on your map, MERRITT IS not in the northeast, its pretty far north west... hahaha!!!! love the videos!!! when I was 14 I was at Merritt with family and had my dinky pole in the water and shockingly I landed a 10 pound walleye... memories for a lifetime,
Really like this. Watched for several years from Sweden. Only big pike around this parts.. But You are Exploaring, enjoying and no stress.. Just fish hard and take it as it comes... Thats fishing..
A customer and now long time friend that I guide in NWO lives not far from merrit and has always invited down there to fish. He has always said there are big fish there.
Thanks for watching. There are a few liquor stores in central WI otherwise we drive right to their brewery to pick it up. This is their website. northwoodsbrewpub.com/
It was great getting to meet you guys and finally post this episode! I was in the group camped next to you guys, no luck for us but you guys found them 👊
Hey Ben, thanks for watching. This is Amy typing - it was legal. The boys ended up catching multiple walleyes, catfish, muskies, and other species during their seven days in Nebraska. Next week we will air part 2 of their trip and eventually we will be putting a third show together with all of the other catches we didn't have time to air.
@@keyesoutdoors that would be awesome, big big tiger muskies out here. id love to show them around some of the muskies waters co has to offer. heck if they wanted to film ice fishing for muskies thats an option as well.
Is nothing sacred any more? Why do you need to name the body of water? Damn, you got me all fired up Mike. Please be respectful of other peoples fisheries. Name the state, but don’t name the water. It’s not that hard….
Thanks for supporting us. When the DNR asks for our HELP to get people to that body of water, well we do just that. Mike is one of the most respectful guys out there, he’s doing his job and he’s put in the time and the money to learn that body of water and he’s so nice he wants to share what he’s learned.
Merritt is the best. great country.

Sweet! I love to see my backyard lakes featured on videos. The Sandhills holds all sorts of gems
People have no idea what a great place the Sandhills really are.
@@kek3908 And, honestly, I kind of hope they never find out
@@TheOutdoorDaileys LOL, yeah I understand, but there needs to be a few people there to keep the bait shop open.
