True it wasn't in the script-- Kevin was supposed kiss Archie on the cheek, but after a few takes of that not really working they decided to change it. Everyone knew, but they still did a good job acting surprised

I appreciate the mention that violence in a fight isn't okay. Yelling at all makes me really nervous, violence makes it so much more uncomfortable

Vocally, this isn't the most egregious thing Riverdale has done. If you look at it from the context of _really_ knowing the story of Hedwig though, this episode is a disaster.
I absolutely agree. It’s just a bastardisation of Hedwig. Especially when Kevin tries to reduce the theme to being *different* and *not fitting in*. Like no... it’s about someone who feels divided about their gender which coincided with the division in their country at the time due to the conflict between East and West Germany, and their inner turmoil only gets worse when they tried to have a sex change and it’s botched.
How does ANY of that relate to high schoolers in Riverdale?!

Like, I _love_ Hedwig to death, but I have _no_ desire to see _any_ high schooler try to tackle the songs of this show! It's on the short list of shows that high schools should just _not_ do! Don't get me wrong; It's a beautiful show with a beautiful message about finding self-love in the midst of a horrific tragedy, but it is _also_ a highly sexually-charged show littered with a ton of casually crude humor.
Exquisite Corpse literally made me gasp... the fact that it's part of Hedwig's final breakdown moment as she's forced to confront the trauma she's been bottling up the entire show and rages over her gender dysphoria and her (in her eyes) destroyed body... and Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and co. were like "this would make a great metaphor for the manufactured relationship drama the teenagers have for 10 minutes"

The used the music from Hedwig very very poorly but the vocals are definitely better than the other musical episodes and I'm glad they actually let Casey sing
I love how the principal wait until Kevin sang his last incredible last notes before turned down the music. He secretely enjoyed it and wanted the end of the performance.

there are also a lot of interesting individual songs in random episodes.. like for example "daddy lessons, jailhouse rock, milkshake, all that jazz" and LOT more you can react to. LOVE your videos
And yes that was really Cole Sprouts singing. All of the voices are true to the characters. Of course they record everything in a studio first and then act to the soundtrack. It’s the same with Julie and The Phantoms, they recorded first and then acted out to the recordings.
Fun fact, in JATP all the songs were played live, and then mixed with the recordings. You can hear obvious differences between the soundtrack and the episodes. Any pitch corrections were done through the soundtrack, but everything was filmed live. Bit like Les Mis, it’s super cool how television is mixing in live music rather than just obvious lip syncing.
Vocally this is one of their better performances, but to have a gay character play Hedwig and this character has never dressed in "feminine" clothing before or has acted this way before... It seems like a bit of a stretch and lowkey disrespectful to the orginal story.
Unfortunately it just seems like Kevin is a whatever the writers want him to be in a particular episode. His one character trait is *gay* and they do whatever they want with that. It's pretty sad, honestly. Cheryl may be a terrible character, but at least she has one besides *gay*

In this episode, the principal Mr. Honey would not allow Kevin to do the performance “Hadwig” in the show the school was putting on. So Kevin decided to do this.
In real life, Casey Cott is straight (I believe all of the actors and actresses are) which makes this performance even better because he laid it all out there. I was very impressed!

Riverdale has easily over 100 random songs throughout the series. Casey sings them 7/10 if not him then the character Veronica. I think having reactions to the different songs would be a VERY fun video(s)
There are songs from the musical episodes you haven't reacted to and there are also songs just sprinkled in some episodes... I would say at least every third episode has a song in there. I would love for you to do some more reactions on those Riverdale covers.
You should definitely give Hedwig a chance. I got the DVD as a birthday present for myself back when it first came out. The songs aren't used very well in context to the original story in Riverdale, but it some of the better singing for their musical episodes.
I pray Hannah sees this, but I am DESPERATE for her to react to the Riverdale "Next to Normal" Episode. It is PHENOMENAL! Lilli is by far the superior singer amongst the cast, and she truly does not disappoint.

There are no other musical episodes, but there are A LOT of songs spread throughout the shows. Songs such as "Daddy Lessons" or "Jailhouse Rock" come to mind. I bet you could find a lot of playlists, and I hope you do!!!

There aren't any more musical episodes yet but they do musical numbers randomly like every other episode so there's definitely a lot more songs there for you to react to. If you want some dramatic ones I would check out Cherry Bomb or Mad World. Jailhouse rock and we don't need another hero are really good. Not necessarily the singing but just the entire numbers are really fun in my memory.
