As a prospective Williams student for 2022, I wanted to say thank you so much for your videos! Especially those regarding applications such as this one. As someone who went through the process of preparing their college applications, I'm sure you understand how much every extra bit of info helps! I also wanted to add that I really appreciate your acknowledgment of the fact that all students are different: their grades, extra-curriculars, and academic achievements; as I truly understand the feeling of jealousy and need to have a "perfect" transcript after looking at the opportunities other students have had.
I realize this doesn’t have to do with the video but do you recommend submitting an art supplement? If you decide not to can you still mention that you’re involved in that art in the application?
I do recommend that, I submitted an art supplement (tuba) at all the schools I applied to. It was definitely extra work, but it wasn’t too bad because I could use the same tapes at almost every college. Not only does it likely make your application more impressive, at Williams it means that the relevant department will know about you and get in touch when you arrive (in my experience). If you’re serious about Williams, I would also recommend reaching out to the relevant faculty while you’re in the application process to show your interest & ask any questions you have. You can definitely mention that in the application without submitting the supplement-you could mention any accolades in the “honors/awards” section, talk about it under “extracurriculars,” or even make it the topic of an essay.
We actually can't declare a major until sophomore year, so I'm really just exploring for now! This year I'm taking Geoscience, Music, Comparative Lit, Poli Sci, History, Econ, and Bio courses. Sort of leaning towards a Political Economy degree, but we'll see!
