I find the Sperry very authentic. Remember it does turn into a new heading by itself. It is very basic. A quick rudder only input will send you spiral down, engaging far off selected heading..
Step one is to calibrate according to magnetic compass when line up on runway. Remember it will drift (gyro) - check with magnetic compass often.
    Engage:
Important: Fly straight and level when preparing for AP engage.
Turn rudder knob to align with compass part of Sperry.
Turn elev knob indicator until it is aligned with red horiz bar.
Now you can engage both pitch and heading.
Hope you test it in a new video. Too bad with an impression of a buggy aircraft, when IMO it is old school classic with authentic limitations.
    Great trip as always... 🙂

Well - tested in some turbulence - and it is very fiddly, and after some time it will drift off due to wind. Admit it is buggy - unless you fly in no wind condition - no mountain. It is similar to PMDG dc6.. Line up AP heading, then engage, but dc6 is much more stable in the air - not so fiddly

This is how planes should be... add an autopilot even if it's not real, and if you don't like it, fly with the old gauges. The autopilot needs fixing which I hope will be soon. That said, it's pretty easy to fly. Beautiful plane.

I’m hope they fix the real proportion of the cockpit windows cause they are way too big compared with real model.

I think you'll find there were several versions, and most people fly MSFS further from the instruments than you are in real life, and with a wider lens than a human eye :)

Hi guys!… none of you found something weird with the size of the windows in the cockpit compare with the original plane even in all its versions?.🤷🏻‍♂️ overall the plane is exquisite well done but this gave me the feeling of a different plane instead of flying the Henry Ford plane.

They fixed already!.. I was right!. Now they rectify the size and proportion of the windows making it look like a real ford trimotor and not as it was at the beginning.

I really like this aircraft, seems perfect for times when you just want a simple aircraft to explore with some of the best visibility in the sim. Ofcourse an aircraft not even pretending to be study level but still fun. It's free for the moment but I would have paid for it long as that was reasonable.

In the GyroPilot, you first need to input the current heading. Both scales should match. Then, turn on the GyroPilot and set the desired course. The aileron control is used to adjust the bank angle required for the aircraft to achieve this course. Once this is done, the GyroPilot automatically transitions into straight and level flight.

In your case, I suspect that the aileron input was already set to an excessively steep value, causing the aircraft to go out of control as soon as the GyroPilot was engaged.

That makes sense - I'll have another look when I get a chance :) Thankyou!

Maybe by the end of the month when they charge for this plane they’ll have it fixed..?

Thst interior sound doesn't sound like any other radial engined 'plane I've flown (sim only).and as you've found the whole thing could be a rush job.For comparison I flew the Junkers equivalent today and I think it was slightly better although still very inclined to float during landing.Autopilot is not something I use,all that faffing around is very unappealing.I just get in and fly............................................
