Both Madara and Momoshiki are patient enough to be playing the long game too. Though Momoshiki is in a better spot than Madara was since he can take over whenever Boruto isn't able to continue or if the latter hands over the reins, while Madara still had the whole mortality issue.

Sasuke can still use his Rinnegan and Naruto can still access Tailed Beast powers. In Sasuke's case, a Rinnegan without a strong physical body like Senju or Uzumaki would very difficult to maintain thus draining. Kakashi used Susanoo without Hashirama Cells because Obito's chakra is Six Paths stolen from Madara and leftovers from when he was a Jinchuriki. The orbs are a one-time thing. Even Madara during his fight with Sasuke and Naruto, the orbs were reduced to one and he used it as a staff. After Naruto and Sasuke fight, their leftover Six Paths Chakra was depleted. Although it is true and sad, the explanation is because Rinnegan and his Time-Space Ninjutsu drain him. The Six Paths Chakra that neutralized it from the war was already back to Hagoromo. Should have attached some Hashirama Arms.

@Francisco Pereira The markings on their palms back then symbolizes Six Path Shadow Style(Moon) and Six Paths Light Style (Sun). And because of that Sasuke accelerated the evolution of Rinnegan and Naruto gained Orbs and Healing capabilities. After sealing Kaguya, both powers were given back to Hagoromo. Sasuke can still use his Rinnegan and Naruto can still access Tailed Beast powers. In Sasuke's case, a Rinnegan without a strong physical body like Senju or Uzumaki would very difficult to maintain thus draining. Kakashi used Susanoo without Hashirama Cells because Obito's chakra is Six Paths stolen from Madara and leftovers from when he was a Jinchuriki.
The orbs are a one-time thing. Even Madara during his fight with Sasuke and Naruto, the orbs were reduced to one and he used it as a staff.
After Naruto and Sasuke fight, their leftover Six Paths Chakra was depleted.
TLDR - he became Kakashi in the show....he can still use Rinnegan powers but it cost so much.
