      Then you are Not seeing his HEART in the answers! He SAYS it is Sin but we Must LOVE 1st and be an example of how we TREAT our friends with this struggle!!!

      i agree; my opinion is the Word is not being preached or taught...here or in these churches or at Biola, etc. my opinion is that any question one may have regarding 'sin' is already a given known to the person; if one is already questioning something that they already know is in the Scriptures as sin or not conducive with the holiness of God, they probably more than likely 'want' a 'free ticket' to sin in that area and are looking for teachers to support their questions....that's exactly what the Scriptures say to avoid...don't allow teachings that itching ears want to hear, preach the Word! we Are living in the end of the age of Grace and we as Christ's body need to start living as if we are His children, not children of the world. Today's churches and believers do not understand the holiness of God! if you hear topics like this one in your church...Run!! from that church! get to a church that preaches and teaches from the Word of God 100% and is not afraid to preach Truth.

      You should listen to this again. The entire time he is saying we all fall short of God’s standards, and that we all need his grace to save us. He directly says homosexual activity is a sin, but he also takes Paul’s thinking saying that we need to get the beam out of our eye before we point out other’s sins. We tend to criticize this sin a lot, while we should realize all the sins we commit every hour of every day and work on ourselves.

    Maybe you should use the Bible for your reference.......like Romans 1.
    God is not kind to sin. God does NOT delight in sin.
    What you think is not the issue, it is what God Thinks.
    Attraction is not the sin,it is the actions upon that attraction that is sin.
    I agree with listening.
    It is interesting that he never mentioned reading the Bible as a way of refreshing himself in his Christian walk.

      This. He's doesn't care what the Bible says. That's fine for him, no one can make him believe the Bible, but he needs to be honest about not believing what it is and what it says.
      If someone truely believes they are a Christian based on that old book, then a couple of things must be true:
      a) That they believe the Bible is the word of God(if not, then it's just a man-made belief system)
      b)They believe that God is who the Bible says He is.
      c) They believe that Christ is who the Bible says He is.
      d) They would also believe that the Holy Spirit is what the Bible says it is.
      e)Very near to the end of that book, it speaks of another book, that based on the entirety of the Bible itself, is a VERY important book: the Book of Life.
      d) If one really believes that God is who the Bible says he is, and that belief determines their future for ETERNITY, would one not do EVERYTHING to be true to that book? Would one not turn away from everything on this earth to ensure that their name was written in that book? Would one not do everything in their power to encourage everyone they know to do the same?

    People sitting in church who are living together unmarried are not treated the same as two women or men doing the same. I have a problem with treating sin selectively. There has to be a better way to address this without demonizing either. Both are not right in God's eyes however so is abusing your spouse, hurting people to make your boss happy, manipulating people for your own purposes etc. God is all about balance.

      I don't think God treats all sin the same...living together is most certainly sin...but it is not against nature the way homosexualilty is..God allowed(though he did not approve) the patriarchs and kings to have wives and concubines....He most certainly would not allow any of them to do same sex stuff..again because it's against nature.

    Some of these questions are a Mystery because we are NOT GOD and some people are made for special purposes and I believe that it doesn't MATTER whether someone is " Born " " Gay " or NOT, it is about what you do WITH That Reality in your life.. Are you going to DIE to SELF and Be HOLY FOR JESUS OR Live for Ourselves and our Own Selfish Wants and Needs!!!!

    As far as we do not do the first and greatest commandment to Love the Lord with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind; no matter how well you may feel and think you love your neighbors as yourself, it is not love but idolatry.

    I am gay and so was my twin brother. I say was because he is no longer here he was Murdered!! Shortly after his funeral a woman came to me and told me his murder was a message to me from God and that my brother is in Hell and I am going there too if I don't change!! My brother was a nurse helping to save people and yet this woman and others like her believe gays go to hell!! Her words hurt me for a long time but today care less what anyone says or believes. I have a personal relationship with my loving GOD. My twin and I were always gay. Yes, I still am!! God gives grace. I am happier than ever and it is God who gives me that happiness & peace, not a church or religion.

    Yes, it takes an intellectual and spiritual journey to fully understand unconditional love. God is love, love is God. If only we could become more God-like the world would be a better place for everyone. Many have died by suicide because of churches/families rejection :( let us be God to others, let us be love to one another.

    The description of homosexuality as a lifestyle is a blatent oversimplification of human sexuality in general and homosexuality in particular. Such indoctrination of the collective societal psyche is paramount to the self validating delusion of heterosexuality possessing moral validity. The reason that we never hear the term " heterosexual lifestyle" is because there is no need to catogorize heterosexuality with such descriptively inherent connotative oversimplification in order to subconciously justify contempt and hatred through subjective comparison.

    Jesus loves us so much, He doesn't want us to stay the way we are. I don't understand why someone would WANT to say they are an LGBTQ Christian...wouldn't that be like saying I'm an adultress Christian? I don't think you'd want to pair those words. Most people would assume that defining themselves as LGBTQ means they are proud that they are that way ( part of a community) and that they are regularly acting on the behavior versus fighting against it. Paul said as such WERE some of you. Instead saying that "I struggle with the sin of homosexuality and I'm a Christian" is way different. I would say that a mentoring situation is needed to counsel and encourage vs creating an LGBTQ community where people are more so just accepting and approving of each other's sins. Chris Yuan did some hard work and still does as he DAILY chooses holy-sexuality. Becket Cook as well. Neither of these Christian men would call himself a gay Christian...but instead a new creation.

      Yep. I'm a Christian sinner, I know the Bible says I can't be a sinner AND be a Christian. I know the Bible says I must turn from my natural inclination toward sin, that my name be written in the Book of Life and not blotted out. I believe with all my heart that the Bible is the Word of God and I know the Bible says that the Word was made flesh and that THAT is Christ the only begotten Son of God and that I must turn FROM everything earthly and Follow Christ that I might escape the judgement and eternal death and hell and be sealed in the Book.
      I believe the Bible is important and all, but my happiness and affirmation now is just ever so slightly more important than all that spiritual talk. Surely if I package it all up nicely and don't let anyone say anything that my friends say is hateful, then I'll get into Heaven, right?

      You can’t change your sexuality or gender identity. I can’t understand why anyone would have a problem with someone being LGBTQ and Christian.
      Preston is not being kind, he’s putting a kind face on bigotry.

    Rev 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh ABOMINATION, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life.
    Anything considered an ABOMINATION to God himself, should not be done against Him.
    2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
    Deu 22:5 The woman shall not wear that which pertaineth unto a man, neither shall a man put on a woman's garment: for all that do so are ABOMINATION unto the LORD thy God.
    1Co 11:14 Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?1Co 11:15 But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering.
    When something is an ABOMINATION unto God himself, how can that be the law of Moses?

    I appreciate the good intention; ultimately however I a) see no real progress or benefit in this kind of apologising when b) in the end the final point is that the Law continues to be claimed superior over the fundamental challenge of Jesus. Realistically, though, the Church isn't really moving forward, but rather looking for ways to continue the same path but with a more public-relations-friendly face. Disappointing.

    How important is the Bible and what it says? I mean, it's a really old book and all. Is God really who the Bible says he is? Is Christ really who the Bible says he is? Is it true that I must believe that old book and repent and be born again that my name might be sealed in the Book of Life that I might escape hell and eternal separation from God?
    If I just highlight the point that some people claim to be Christian but have hurt my feelings, then maybe, just maybe that will get me into Heaven. maybe?

    "Does GOD make people gay?" (And then Preston couldn't tell you what the Bible says, and surely did a good job of shirking the question!) How a bout this question? "Is GOD the author of sin?"
    From the Westminster Confession via The Bible: " God from all eternity did, by the most wise and holy counsel of his own will, freely and unchangeably ordain whatsoever comes to pass (Rom 9:15, 18; 11:33; Eph 1:11; Heb 6:17); yet so as thereby neither is God the author of sin (James 1:13, 17; 1 John 1:5), nor is violence offered to the will of the creatures, nor is the liberty or contingency of second causes taken away, but rather established (Prov 16:33; Mat 17:12; John 19:11; Acts 2:23; 4:27-28)."
    Does GOD make people gay? What do you think?

    Why do Christians want to identify with their sin? Why would I want to say that I’m a liar? Our identity should be in Christ, not our sexuality.

    So, what does he believe? All sex outside of marriage is a sin? so sex between two people of the same sex inside the covenant of marriage is ok? He danced around questions a lot and tried to equate all sin to homosexual sin (which I agree with) more than he wanted to answer straight up the questions he was invited to ask.

      Easy for you to silence someone whos straight when your not(presumably) . It's also easy for me to make an a lazy comeback well.
      And im gay, and I agree with most of what he's saying, so let's not do that again.
      He even admits that he considered shutting up Because it's not his personal experience, but his gay friends wanted him to keep speaking on their behalf. And so silencing him is silencing them.
      And it's not easy for him to say this stuff as it gets hate directed at him, some from people who get offended and target him based on the fact that he's straight and married.

To idolize a specific rule from the Bible when the ultimate goal is to "love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul and mind" and "love your neighbor as yourself". I feel that's difficult enough of a task. Throwing homophobia / self-hate into the mix doesn't help with that.

      Exactly! The scripture clearly teaches that God does not show partiality. Yet, we continue to push this narrative that he forces one group of people with same sex attraction to remain celibate and does not afford them the grace to get married. Makes no sense what so ever and the scriptures used against it don’t say what the church has historically taught. So damaging to people’s faith! Thank God, I had sense enough to study the word and not listen to bias straight people around me.

    @prestonsprinkle you don't answer any Qs directly bc you're scared to speak the truth to your LGBTQ friends. If you love them you would speak TRUTH. There's a lot of desires we should not act on, same sex attraction should not be something they act on. Period. It's part of God's design that why he flooded the world and set SG on fire. Be careful to defend what God approves of and disapproves. You will have to face Him one day.
