Dude you need a filmer?! The Interneter Timmy who made this video said companies need more Interneter fake life fuckery…..just as long as we get content out right brah! Pay me in YT clicks, we can “tour” bruh!
Big props for giving other dg content creators some love! ❤ Working on building my channel as well. Working on a round I played where I talked about creating content and being supportive. Great video!
The biggest problem with the pay structure is that disc golf's risk of injury is very high. Very few of the players can afford to rehab an injury properly.
This here. Thank you. You see, I was throwing big 20 years ago. I threw my arm right out trying to out-throw everyone else. A sport should be sustainable as far as playing time vs injury. Perhaps if we focused more on shot shaping holes, courses where control counts more than distance. Where cutting up a hole into efficient well thrown shots, I don't know. Distance is fun to watch, but the best throws for your body are the effortless ones.
Disc Golf has boomed. Like shattered the records of popularity growth after the pandemic IMO. Before I always thought of it as a hobby, no offense to the sport. Wasn't Prodigy the first company to give out checks? Regardless, my point being before I go off on tangents - I feel like the popularity spike made disc companies throw money at Pro's. All because fans will flock to get the next great disc. Like Paul's Athena fairway, Simon's Mind Bender, his recent prototype Time Lapse, James Conrad's Envy when he won Worlds. The infamous 2015 Nate Sexton Firebird. They've been selling out quick. And will continue to do so because of the popularity of the pro's. The young guns all wanna fight for the Final Card at each DGPT event. And that's an amazing thing. My younger brother throws everyday working on his form and he's so close to a 1000 rating after his 2nd year. All of this combines to disc companies needing to find the right player to represent them. Who can be the bright star that kids will admire for Discraft, Discmania, MVP. You know?
By boom you mean……disc golfers don’t understand what blown up means…..no the game has not blown up! Name one outside sponsor who came in to the scene to benefit off the growth?! Disc manufacturers are calling asking retailers if they need an order…..that’s not a good thing!
Paul isn’t coming out of the shadows. That’s a shadow way of describing him when he says something publicly. He’s a 6 time world champ and he’s reserved in how he publishes or weighs in. Don’t twist your spit.
He injured his shoulder during the end of the season, as well as having a kid. Dude is busy. Certainly hasn't "turned himself into an afterthought". Dramatic much? Paul is far and away the most famous disc golfer currently, no contest.
I just have to assume you didn't pay the slightest bit of attention to the season since this was one of McBeth's most famous and most talked about seasons in his entire career. He went off doing a complete european tour series, opened several courses, bought and renewed some older courses, started numerous disc golf initiatives in several countries, had a child, had an injury and recovered, and set new records on almost every course he played. If you can find a single disc golf news article or video from 2023 that doesn't at least mention his name and what' he's been doing I would be honestly surprised.
There is a reason players like Brodie and Simon get the sponsorship money. They bring eyes on the sport and the people who provide the gear because of their onscreen presence and likeability. .
give @RobbieCDiscGolf a watch if you are a newer player, Oh and Roll Tide!!! Texas is the one that should be getting crap for making the playoffs, not bama, we beat the no.1 team... (there, I just wanted to piss folks off too!)
A disc golf guy talking about the ridiculousness of dg and social media actively building a sm channel and wanting views. If you care, make a video about why dg isn’t an Olympic sport, the reasons why. And what would have to change to get it there
Uhm No. PGA does not pay for Hotels and travel. Sponsor does not mean employee. They are a contract worker. It’s cost v. benefit for the athlete. If the economics aren’t there it’s a hobby till they build their brand. the rest is simply standard par for the course professional sponsorship
This is why despite not winning much, Simon Lizotte can get popularity becuse of his use of RUclips as a platform to show off what he can do and the lines he takes that few others can do as pro players.
@@StevenKitchensDiscGolfI wasn’t. I was going to subscribe to your channel. It’s right there if I click on your name. Pretty cool of you to ask for a shoutout but diss people who go to your channel btw.
If you cannot afford to the gas money to drive to and from a tournament then wtf are you doing tyrying to drive to it? That's not up to PDGA to figure out or sponsors. DG players need to live in the real world a little bit of the time. Literally one week's paycheck from any minimum wage job would give you gas money for a few months. If you're playing so much disc golf that it's a problem for you to earn 300$ during a year for gas money to go to some tournaments then you've clearly got priorities mixed.
The first comment with some actual realistic truth! Why disc manufacturers calling vendors seeing if they need orders?! Hmmmm…..why is mvp out of everything trying to accommodate a well deserved Simon contract, but it ain’t easy! I don’t think sustainable either! Imo
I'm a huge mcbeth fan. However, his complaining about the PDGA and bailing on the US tournaments for Europe etc seem to have coincided with him not winning as much on the pro tour. Obviously, he is still extremely good and one of the best...but the parody has gotten way better in the last few years and now that he has been "dethroned", it appears that all of the excuses are now coming out about everything. Obviously I'm sure this is just a conspiracy I drew up in my head, but it's just something I started to question this last year.
Paul is pushing the sport in areas that actually deserve a lot more of the spotlight than they’ve been getting - and he deserves a lot of credit for being selfless enough to do it. Because not only is he good enough to still be in the mix anywhere he plays, he also has the foresight to see what growth of the game globally means (a really egoistic take of this is that it puts more money in his pocket but I don’t for a second believe that is his motivation). Yes, the game has levelled up and winning is harder but Paul can - and will - still be in contention. An injury and becoming a father are legitimate reasons for not being on tour.
Nobody is forcing ANY player to 'go pro'. Don't give me the "pity us" story about people in parking lots. That was their decision to try and make a living from this sport. THEIR DECISION! You need wake up and realize that companies cannot pay for everyone to live comfrtably. Too many mouths to feed - somebody is going hungry. You're trying to make disc golf sound like ball golf. It's not 1/1000th of that sport in terms of value. It takes a few restless nights in a car to wake some people up, and to force them to make ADULT decisions. You either swallow your pride and deal with it, or make RUclips videos and cry about it.
I quit my job today to become a professional disc golfer. I can already throw 260 feet, pretty far. and I'm only 43 yo. Pretty excited
😂 future world champ! Manifest it!

Very refreshing content, especially his "fairway talks"

It's the Partee Podcast. I listen on Spotify.
The company cameraman crew that edits. Basically making skate videos out of disc golf highlights for sponsored team to help sell

that's laughable. if you've been playing for more than a few years, you KNOW disc golf is exploding
its dying fast. at least 3 disc golf manufacturers are going under in 2024.
