2:10 During the trial, an expert ATF agent testified that he attempted to make 4 Lightning Links. Three didn't work and the fourth cycled once but didn't fire a second round. I wonder how long it would take an expert ATF agent (or a licensed FFL such as Brandon) to turn a wire coat hanger into a functioning machine gun component. Or a shoelace.
Using that same business card you could probably make a functional swift link in under 30 mins. Its what the "coat hanger machine gun" falls under and can literally be just a straight strip of metal with very specific bends. The fact that it was a lightning link design makes it even harder to make functional because Im pretty sure you need a different BCG than the standard Full-Auto profile carrier everyone has nowadays. Almost like the whole thing was a joke and not made to actually be turned into a functional part...
Brandon, I think making a weapon from Fallout New Vegas is a great idea. Since an Alien Blaster is probably out of the question, an NCR issue Patrol Rifle will work just fine for me. And if you can't find wood furniture for it I would suggest getting the original A1 fiberglass wrapped in a wood grain. There is also a company in Florida that has a kind of water process where they can transfer all kinds of patterns and finishes on compound surfaces by submerging the object and floating the pattern onto them. They specialize in firearms and have an FFL on staff, but will apply a wrapped finish to nearly any object. I think they have some RUclips videos. Last I checked they priced doing a complete AR furniture set; butt stock, hand guard, and pistol grip, for around $100, but that was a while ago. Also the owner told me the lead time was about 30 days, but for you I bet he'd do it quicker for a mention on your show. Right now in game I'm almost at the point where I have to kill Mr. House, and I always hate doing that. But I've never done it with an NCR rifle before. I've beaten him to death with a club, zapped him with energy weapons, I even killed him bare handed once. Maybe you could arrange a IRL demo with an NCR rifle? The we can celebrate his demise with some Fancy Lad Snack Cakes (AKA Twinkies).
A basic NCR rifle? It looks like something a hobbyist could put together with an A1 and paint. Give the man a challenge! Let's see a 12.7mm pistol or 10mm SMG - anything with more of the Fallout vibe. If the NCR rifle looked more real-world it would the Assault Carbine 😆
Haha Wendigoon. The path he took to end up in Brandon's videos is insane lol. In the lore of the game it was a high caliber checkpoint carbine intended to be better at penetrating windshields, hoods, grilles, car doors, etcetera without losing energy or accuracy. The soldier Randall Clarke who used the gun on deployment in newly annexed Canada carved on one side of the guns wooden stock the word "STOP", and on the other side the french word for stop "ARRETE". To help make his job at checkpoints slightly easier. He must have dropped it pretty hard at one point too because the front sight is bent so bad that you need to align the right protective sight blade with the rear aperture to hit anything with it.
For the record, I would LOVE to see a fallout larp. I know you would do New Vegas justice, especially if you get all the boys involved in it. We all know admin and dad love the larp 👍🏼

Also militia “regulars” were average people who were given the states best weaponry by the state government. I took a 2nd amendment class; the best way to follow the second amendment is for the state to offer every man of fighting age best military equipment
If you're making a rifle from NV, don't just do the standard NCR Service Rifle, go all the way and do the unique version, the Survivalist's Rifle, in its native caliber. Amazing gun with an even more amazing history. The devs in an interview said Fallout's 12.7mm round is comparable to .50 Beowulf.
Gameplay wise it's more like a really hot .50AE, since there's a pistol and SMG chambered for it. There was a company wayyy back when that made a .50AE AR-15... If Brandon made a solid clone of Randall Clark's rifle, I would be complete...

A series of New Vegas themed guns would be sick. Service rifle, survivalist rifle, A Light Shining in Darkness with Admin as Joshua Graham, maybe even That Gun
I did a 20" AR with that wooden furniture, it's absolutely beautiful. Wasn't originally intended to be an NCR patrol rifle reference, but it looks just like it, and I'm really ok with that.
Ever since Ian built a custom, totally accurate FO3 Chinese Assault Rifle for an April Fools' joke, I've wanted nothing more than for more Fallout guns to become real. DO IT!
AGREED
the 10mm pistol (I think its called) from 3 or New Vegas would be great. its such an ugly big blocky pistol that would be really heavy, but its iconic of fallout. also wouldnt be too hard to make I reckon.
@@martinmethod427 more specifically, the Service Rifle is a Canadian C7 rifle with M16A1 style furniture. Most of the guns based on real models were a blend of multiple types, probably to avoid copyright issues.
Dude Hell ya! Seeing more fallout love and its weapons being made from real parts is something that I've been mentally begging for! Might even see what their process is so I could copy it and do it on one of my beater rifles or something xD
Brandon and Ian should definitely do a collab.
Yes, Brandon. We love Fallout New Vegas and would love to see a FNV themed LARP.
even in death he was still showing excellent gun safety with his hand off the trigger. Bravo.
I’d also say if he plans on getting a Service rifle reproduction I’d also say a browning high power to go along with it as a side arm

At least with knives they have to physically come in contact with you and have some strength.
Just remember everyone, the precedent they're setting means that if you take a stencil of a lightning link and use it to spray paint onto a steppers vehicle, they are now in possession of an unregistered machine gun.
