This is the most beautiful color choice and yet simple mold and instructions clear and super fast!! Tyfs!! Love this!! The blue one from the beginning is what mixture? Your eye for the sparkle factor is beyond WOW!
Thank you so much! I got that glitter from Michaels. It's the Caribbean one, here's the link: www.michaels.com/glitzy-mix-specialty-polyester-glitter-by-recollections/M20001925.html
Hello I cam across your video, I am so glad I did. Your instructions are very clear. I just wanted to know what brand of heat gun are you using? Their are so many out their and so many mixed reviews in Amazon, so I figure I ask you since your coasters came out so good.
Thank you so much!! I've tried several different brands on Amazon, didn't find one I loved that was worth the price. I started using EnviroTex Lite and love it. I get it at Michael's. It's $100 but I wait for the 40 or 50% off coupon to purchase. Counter Culture DIY is the best resin I've ever used but it's $120+ Hope this helps!
Love this. I have a question. Could you make a clear coat, once its dry you put the name on (in mirror) then cover second coat with the glitter coat, wait for it to dry then put the other clear coat so all the edges even the ones on the top will be shiny? Would this work?
Hi love! What color glitter is the blue chunky on your other coaster? It's beautiful!!! I checked the link on your description, but it doesn't show me which blue that is. Thank you! By the way, I've spent since last night and in between breaks from work today watching your videos. Your craft room is so pretty!! Thank you for posting.
Hey Janette 👋 Thank you so much for your kind words & your support! 🥰 here's the link to the exact glitter: I believe it's called Caribbean or something. www.michaels.com/glitzy-mix-specialty-polyester-glitter-by-recollections/M20001925.html
Great question! Resin is not supposed to bend when fully cured. It's should be as hard as plastic/acrylic. So either your pieces are not fully cured or your measurements were off if you were using a 2-part resin. Also depends on the type of resin you're using (ex- casting resin). Hope this helps!
Hey, very informative vid! Just curious, I'm new to resin & I was wondering if heating it is absolutely necessary? Do you have to wear a mask to protect yourself? I've seen some scary resin stories on yt.
Everytime I go to de-mould I have huge crators (holes) all over my finished project 😢 I go around the mould with a silicone stick to try remove any bubbles from the sides. What am I doing wrong please x
I love the glossy finish on the bottom part of the coasters! Isn't the top part kind of texture-y from the glitter? Since when you pour the resin mixture into the mold, glitter sinks to the bottom (which is the top part of the coaster), I read somewhere.
Yes the tops can have some texture depending on your glitter, you can kind of tell in my video where I put the vinyl on the top that it almost has a matte-like finish. I always put a thin coat on top as well whether I use vinyl or not so that both sides look super pretty and glossy.
Thank you! Its adhesive vinyl I designed and cut using my Cricut. You can get vinyl and the machine to cut it at Walmart, Target, Hobby Lobby, Michaels, JoAnns, or online.
I love your work, its so beautiful! I'm starting to do my own for the first time... how much mixture do you use to fill the mold? I dont want to over fill and want to add to the top as you did to make it shiny.
After ur resin molds and your ready to gloss are u using just A to gloss or is it Both ur still using? And when you put your wording is it the same using A or mixing A and B?
Hi! I love this tutorial, the coasters are GORGEOUS!! I tried this yesterday, and I found that when I took my coaster out of the mould, the edges (at the bottom) were extremely sharp. Any way to fix that?
Thanks so much!! I sand mine down when they do that. If needed, you can always mix up a tiny bit of epoxy and dip your finger or paint brush in it and go over what was sanded.
A blow torch also works. You can try a blow dryer also if it gets really hot. You could also put your resin in a cup then place the cup in a bowl of warm water for 10-15 minutes until all the bubbles rise and pop at the surface instead of using the heat gun.
Thanks! I use EnviroTex Lite. I get it by the gallon at Michael's. It's $100 but I use the 50% off coupon they have sometimes. If you don't have a Michael's near you, you can use Counter Culture DIY epoxy and order it online, it runs $120 per gallon. Either of those work well 👍
@@iamelizainez Anytime girl! It should still cure. However, if there's a ton of glitter, it may become rough/bumpy and you may have to add another coat of epoxy to make it smooth and seal it all in.
Hello, Thank you for the video I love the coasters. My granddaughter wants to make crafts to make a lil hustle. I bought a box of alumilite for her. It came with two bottles one is clear and the other is not as clear. We decide to test it so she made a bracelet a lil thicker than a 1/4 in. Once it dries should it be flexible? I am new to using epoxy, I have been watching videos as I would like to learn to make a tumbler. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! That's great! No it should not be flexible. It probably hasn't finished curing. However, if the measurements were off (even slightly) it won't cure. I would just leave it alone for a few days and see if it cures completely. Sometimes when you're working with thick pieces it just needs more time. I love working with epoxy/resin it can just be finicky. Definitely go check out my woodgrain video before you start making tumblers for some more tips. I plan on making different types of tumbler videos in the future so stay tuned.
i’ve made a few beautiful coasters and i’ve noticed after a little bit it scratches up...is that normal? or will that extra clear coat help ? i kindve imagined it’s the same
It's pretty much the same. Resin isn't forgiving when it comes to scratches and scuffs unfortunately. Sometimes I just clean mine to help the appearance but it doesn't fix the scratch
Hi, I have trouble with my glitter always sinking to the bottom. How do u get around that? If I let it cure before mixing the glitter in I don't get a crystal clear finish.
Like actual hands on work time, 30 minutes (only because of the vinyl). A coaster without vinyl might take 15 minutes. But it cures for 24 hrs then another 24hrs when I add another layer over vinyl.
Sooo I use a lot, I basically try any I come across lol. But I really like Envirotex Lite and Counter Culture DIY. I've never had any issues with either.
So beautiful 💜

I Love your video!! Thanks for the tip of pouring clear resin on top and bottom looks so beautiful! I never would of thought to do that.
Glad to help!
I'm so distracted I have to comment before you ever actually get started. Somebody loves you, girl! That wedding ring set is beyond gorgeous!

Thank you!
Beautiful and thank you.
I’m trying to work out how you get that lip on the coaster. Is there a channel around the mould which is not visible on camera?
love this!!!
Thanks!
Thats so pretty! I just found your channel!
Thank you 🥰 & Yay! Glad you're here!

If I'm understanding correctly, I do believe that would work! Gotta love those glitter top coats 🥰❤️
Absolutely gorgeous!! Thank you for a great tutorial. I’m not afraid to try now. Thank you!!
Aw thanks! Glad I could help! Thanks for watching.
Absolutely gorgeous I just order some newbie
Thanks! Yay!

Love hearing that! Let me know how it goes! The font is Watermelon Script that I downloaded online (dafont.com I think)
After you cured the coaster, did u use resin or hardener for the top of the glitter

Looks great! Can you use a hair dryer instead of a heat gun?
You could try, not sure if it gets hot enough though.

@@CreativelyErica I will definitely try sanding it, thank you so much:)
Can you tell me which font you used on purple coaster?
My chunky glitter floats to the top when I use the heat gun. Is there a way to do it without it all separating?
Do you put clear resin on the sides? Thanks for the video.
Nope, just a clear coat on the rough side
Hello mam …
Is their any another way out of using heat gun .. I don’t have heat gun .. and I can’t buy also ..
Can we use something else.. please tell

how do u put the writing on it/////????????
probably a stupid question but can you use a hair dryer to pop the bubbles?
I don't think it gets hot enough

Hi, I have trouble with my glitter always sinking to the bottom. How do u get around that? If I let it cure before mixing the glitter in I don't get a crystal clear finish.
I would have to see them to be able to tell you. You might need to add more glitter or just do it in layers
Hi! I'm wondering if this technique would work if I wanted to make a scrabble tile coaster with bits of glitter?!
Absolutely! If you're putting the scrabble letter into the resin just make sure your mold is deep enough to cover them
How do you get the glitter to not sink to the bottom 😓
How to paste those letters on the coasters.
Do you have to have a heat gun can you use something else?
You can also use a butane torch. I've also seen people use their hair dryers if they get hot enough. Setting it under a heat lamp will also help.
What is part a part b epoxy or is that resin in the cups ?
It's a 2 part epoxy mix (where you have to mix equal parts of A and B then mix to use).
Do you have to use a heat gun or can you use something else?
You could use a heat gun, torch, even a hair dryer if it gets hot. Or if you have heat lamps, just placing them under the lamp to cure would work.
Can you sit a cup of hot cup of coffee or a cold drink on it without damaging it ?
Yep, completely fine!
How many hours total did it take to make the coaster?
Like actual hands on work time, 30 minutes (only because of the vinyl). A coaster without vinyl might take 15 minutes. But it cures for 24 hrs then another 24hrs when I add another layer over vinyl.
Can you tell me how much epoxy you used the first time you poured into the mold please ? (:
Thanks!
You can measure the volume you need for the mold with water first :)
What kind of epoxy and resin do you use?
Sooo I use a lot, I basically try any I come across lol. But I really like Envirotex Lite and Counter Culture DIY. I've never had any issues with either.
Can you use a lighter if you don’t have a heat gun?
I haven't tried that I would imagine that might burn the epoxy. I used to use a hair dryer before I got a heat gun lol.
I use one of the BBQ lighters. Works great
