Agree, agree, Agree, his proportions points out to ML Fanboys that the figures on the Renue your vows buck look odd. I hate the loaded upper legs and the massive clown feet, the head again as you said is way to big and the latts going up to his neck is way to big. I really like his shoulders. They raise almost anatomically correctly, with a bigger chunk at the top of the pivot compared to the divot where the pit is supposed to be. Did they make a smaller hinge and move it close to the pit to simulate correct anatomy? Imo this beats the Revoltech way of doing it.
Regarding “slimness”, it all depends on which artist you regard as the definitive Daredevil artist. I came up during Lee Weeks’ run, and this figure looks almost exactly like his artwork. So this is absolutely my personal definitive look for DD. If Mazzucchelli is your guy, this is a little slim, but not too far off.
His lats should be a tad bit wider I think, that would have gotten rid of the weird gap between where his upper torso and triceps meet when u have him standing normally. But besides that he is almost 1:1 with how Mazzucchelli drew him.
The comparison between the Marvel Legend and Mafex Daredevil is PERFECT! THIS is what us rational collectors try to point out about Hasbro's figures. As an artist, it was always hard for me to get behind the hype of Hasbro Marvel Legends, because those proportions are exactly what you are gonna get with at least 90% of their product. It's as if the team are decent at art, but never actually went to school or studied actual human anatomy OR comic book art. No way professionals would be putting out the product they do with actual skill to back up the natural talent.
I’m in full agreement with you on wanting a comic shaded variant down the road. I was considering customizing my Daredevil but it’s not a paint application I’m used to trying on my own and there is a science to it. And it’s also not something that I’d be willing to risk without having a spare one of these figures on hand
Bro, I am the same When it comes to Bindi wire weapons. I don’t like to unwrap them I like them perfectly wrapped. This is why I need to get another daredevil so I can unwrap the Bindi wire weapons.
My biggest complaint with this figure is the way they did the butterflies. They stick out like a sore thumb, it's way worse than most of their other offerings, and it makes his chest look weird. Other than that, looks pretty good
I was so happy and impressed when I got mine, as a guy who only sticks to spiderman figures, this figure really blew my mind when I got it, I am SOOO glad I got this over the knightfall batman figure(for context I wanted to try other figures that weren’t just spiderman)
Ive always kept my Bucky Capt DD. The retro spiderman buck does nothing for me and the bucky capt build fits better to me especially as everything has scaled up. I dont think Im picking this up but if they do the heavy black deco, Im sold. Thats been my one big want and I almost caved and got the animated DD for that despite the awful body.
Why should Hasbro improve? ML fans have proven repeatedly that they will buy absolute garbage just because it’s their favorite character. Why should Hasbro invest money on making better products when they don’t have to? Don’t blame Hasbro, blame the consumers.
Squint your eyes when Anthony shows the daredevils side by side. Mafex wins by a mile. The silhouette on the mafex looks sooo much better. Granted the legs and arms do look lean but his shoulders and waist proportioning looks so much better
Hey Anthony, been following your channel for a journey. I’ve always wanted to ask you: what is your background; industrial designer, engineer, writer, comic illustrator, other in the comic/toy world area?

Great review. Figure looks amazing. I really have no idea how people say hasbro is better. Even if i couldn’t afford mafex, id still admit it’s infinitely better than the hasbro.
Mafex really did a great job here. What's even better for them is they could sell repaints like comic shading ver, and Shadowlands (Black) or Original Yellow & Red and they would all probably sell really well. Throw in an unmasked head, and watch the money flow.
Like Anthony said, "It doesn't cost more to sculpt it right." The price isn't relevant when it comes to sculpting anatomically correct bodies. There's dollar store toys with better anatomy than Marvel Legends
No it doesn't. This figure is around $60, while ML is 30. Remember that BBTS prices for america is not what Mafex actually costs, thats just them adding every tax and fee that they have on top of the figure price.
They should have shaded the forehead, if they shaded the body they should have done the forehead. It would also make the red in the eyes pop, like in the comics. It would have been the icing on the cake, of an otherwise perfect figure.
I’m not gonna lie to you. I’ve been waiting all weekend for this video. I swear it’s like seeing him. Do the Captain America. You know that he’s gonna do the daredevil it’s just a matter of when
2 Quick questions… Do Mafex figures lose value once opened and removed from the box? Or do they still hold their value somewhat? I’m looking to get the Superman Hush figure and was unsure if I should keep him in box or not
Everything loses value when you open it. But if you want to open it, it's worth more to you opened than sealed. Keep the box and everything if you're planning to sell eventually. That'll help the value some
This might be the first Mafex figure I'll ever get (and hopefully the only one for the benefit of my pocket). The only thing I don't really like is the peg hole on his leg. They could have made a "pocket" for us to place his stick-thingies
Ugh. I kept thinking I should pick this figure up and I missed the boat. Sold out everywhere and going for $150+. I might have to look for someone willing to trade in a forum or Facebook group. He looks really good. I passed on the ML one because I just didn't think he looked how I wanted. There was something not right and I think it's definitely the proportions plus the paint/lack thereof.
Mafex again just killing it.... I really like how they are making a neo-modern secret wars aesthetic. I'm totally ok with the build and slightly softer sculpt. Marvel Legends are just gross to look at... Like tortured demented muscles wrapped in a thin latex full body condom with duck feet and large laaarge melon heads that usually look like they're suffering. Whoever sculpts those gross shits hates their fkn job.
I totally agree that a lot of Hasbro's problems can be fixed at little to no cost to them. However, if a lot of what makes this figure so much better wouldn't cost much extra, how can it possibly be worth nearly 4x the price?
I still don't get why Mafex's scale changes from figure to figure. Their Daredevil is bigger than their Captain America figure and their both bigger than Thor. Standing alone it's a great figure and it might sound crazy, but it feels heavier in hand than a lot of the other Mafex figures.
Hey Anthony, can you review a figure from the Marvel Fighting-Armor line? They look really cool and look like they have good articulation, but they are relatively expensive, so I'd love to see a review first.
Hasbro repurposes as many existing sculpts and parts so when they release a new figure unfortunately it's piecing together something vs investing in new proportionate body parts and this shows. Mafex for sure does the same but this DD and from Nightwing. This also goes to why Mafex costs more than Hasbro.
@@AnthonysCustoms i think the decisions Hasbro (like most big major companies) is making are based on efficiency rather than accuracy. That maybe lead to having some general and bad sculpts, idk?
This Mafex puts Legends on full blast. It's incredible what proper proportions and a little bit of paint will do for you. This Mafex actually looks like a literal superhero. Daredevil is one of my favorite Marvel characters. Thank God my patience paid off because somebody finally did him justice.
The standards are SO low with Hasbros. It’s like there are so many examples of sculpt and articulation being done well by all these companies and yet people still try to justify buying this crap. Even if you love the character, do you really want a mediocre figure of said character. One of these looks like a comic book character, the other is a big headed, clown footed, lumpy mess. With a terrible toros joint. And barely any paint.
It's actually kind of sad to me how I really didn't see the issues before but now it's so obvious lol. Legends figures rarely ever look like comic book figures. And even when they do, it's more "acceptable" than good. But this figure? I said it looked like a comic figure and I credit so much of my reasoning now to your videos. Articulation, shading, proportions, useful and thoughtful accessories, if you can afford Mafex, you realize why you feel so much better buying them than a ML or McF or whatever. This guy is a massive stepup from relatively good figures anyway. The sad part is, how many people will try to track down that ML one on the aftermarket vs getting this 😂
The ML Daredevil got a BIG ASS head and TINY ASS shoulders at the same time LOL. I hate that torso gap when you lean back on Mafex figures. They exist on every figure and looks the worst on the Knighfall Batman. Otherwise they make pretty good figures these days.
@AhenobarbusHenocied_ that's fair, I should say I like less paint for the simpler style anime SHF focuses on. Also, paint and details aren't really the issue with their Berserk line, but maybe they're on a learning curve to balance it with build quality.
@@pletho79 oh, 100%, I also prefer it in most cases, but a little bit more shading would really help justify the prices I will say I recently picked up Tanjiro and he’s the first SHF figure I’ve bought that I have 0 problems with
I have no problem that figures are too slender. That is my complaint with Marvel figures - everyone is too muscular. Spider-Man and Nightcrawler are not a bulky guy. Cyclops used to be called slim. Daredevil should look like an average man; he is a lawyer - suit and tie. He should not be like Hyperion or Thor.

The Mafex Jean Grey figure looks goood👌🏾👌🏾
The comparison between the Marvel Legend and Mafex Daredevil is PERFECT! THIS is what us rational collectors try to point out about Hasbro's figures.
As an artist, it was always hard for me to get behind the hype of Hasbro Marvel Legends, because those proportions are exactly what you are gonna get with at least 90% of their product. It's as if the team are decent at art, but never actually went to school or studied actual human anatomy OR comic book art. No way professionals would be putting out the product they do with actual skill to back up the natural talent.
Hope Mafex makes a Jim Lee War Journal Punisher. On the other end of the spectrum in terms of tone - I’d buy a whole Batman 66 Mafex line too haha
I’m in full agreement with you on wanting a comic shaded variant down the road. I was considering customizing my Daredevil but it’s not a paint application I’m used to trying on my own and there is a science to it. And it’s also not something that I’d be willing to risk without having a spare one of these figures on hand
Another excellent unbiased review. 💯👏👏👏 This figure is AMAZING! 🔥
By the price point, maybe it should come with an unmasked Matt Murdock head. But most wouldn't pose the figure with that. So, who cares?
It should. I totally forgot about that. I never use unmasked heads.
It should've come with an unmasked head
Bro, I am the same When it comes to Bindi wire weapons. I don’t like to unwrap them I like them perfectly wrapped. This is why I need to get another daredevil so I can unwrap the Bindi wire weapons.
My biggest complaint with this figure is the way they did the butterflies. They stick out like a sore thumb, it's way worse than most of their other offerings, and it makes his chest look weird. Other than that, looks pretty good
I just got mine today and its a fantastic figure man. I say easily figure of the year for Marvel or DC. 10/10
Let’s gooooo!! I was wondering if we’d get a review of this guy. Great work as always
Bucky Cap DD is definitely better than the "good" one
Why should Hasbro improve? ML fans have proven repeatedly that they will buy absolute garbage just because it’s their favorite character. Why should Hasbro invest money on making better products when they don’t have to? Don’t blame Hasbro, blame the consumers.
I do. But the thing is that most of the improvements wouldn't cost them anything so there's no reason to not do them.
Squint your eyes when Anthony shows the daredevils side by side. Mafex wins by a mile. The silhouette on the mafex looks sooo much better. Granted the legs and arms do look lean but his shoulders and waist proportioning looks so much better
Can’t wait to get mine. I’ve also been dying to see your opinion
Nice video as always! I'd really like to see a dual zangetsu Ichigo review, that figure genuinely looks awesome.
Awesome review ! Thank you!
Hey Anthony, been following your channel for a journey. I’ve always wanted to ask you: what is your background; industrial designer, engineer, writer, comic illustrator, other in the comic/toy world area?
Teacher. And then customizer/designer/sculptor of my own line and custom parts. Other than basic general stuff in college, no art background. All self taught. The internet is a wonderful thing. Thanks for continued support
@@AnthonysCustoms Teacher here too. It’s incredible what we can find on the Internet. We are resourceful individuals, aren’t we
Great review.
In fairness to Hasbro, Marvel Legends cost 25% of what Mafex do. The problem is that in many cases they're less than 25% as good.
Like Anthony said, "It doesn't cost more to sculpt it right."
The price isn't relevant when it comes to sculpting anatomically correct bodies. There's dollar store toys with better anatomy than Marvel Legends
No it doesn't. This figure is around $60, while ML is 30. Remember that BBTS prices for america is not what Mafex actually costs, thats just them adding every tax and fee that they have on top of the figure price.
@@dz6ruinteresting point
They should have shaded the forehead, if they shaded the body they should have done the forehead. It would also make the red in the eyes pop, like in the comics. It would have been the icing on the cake, of an otherwise perfect figure.
The Hasbro Black Shaded Daredevil is the best 1/12 scale DD out their. This one is good tho.
I’m not gonna lie to you. I’ve been waiting all weekend for this video. I swear it’s like seeing him. Do the Captain America. You know that he’s gonna do the daredevil it’s just a matter of when
I agree they have improved a lot, but for new price point I hope they improve the skin paint job.
I'm glad to own a figure Anthony scored as a 9.8%.
The RYV legends buck is atrocious. It’s supposed to be their most advanced buck and Dwight sculpted and had it engineered like a 10 year old
We should do school time more often.
That'll help the value some
It looks like we have a definitive version of DareDevil
Man, why couldn't Mafex make those FF7 figures?
Because Square Enix is gatekeeping its own franchises lol
Yes. The answer is YES.
Just ordered this guy today. Overpaid but dang I couldn’t escape the FOMO. Can’t wait to have him in hand
Truth. I wouldn’t expect this level of paint detail from hasbro for the price point but there’s no excuse for not getting sculpts right.
That Legends 3-pack is overpriced online for an otherwise okay set of figures, but I'm likely getting this much like with Magneto
However, if a lot of what makes this figure so much better wouldn't cost much extra, how can it possibly be worth nearly 4x the price?
quality in finish, execution, articulation, accessories.
I still don't get why Mafex's scale changes from figure to figure. Their Daredevil is bigger than their Captain America figure and their both bigger than Thor. Standing alone it's a great figure and it might sound crazy, but it feels heavier in hand than a lot of the other Mafex figures.
Maybe they are starting to take scale into consideration? If this was a few years ago the recent Bane would have been the size of their Venom.
Hey Anthony, can you review a figure from the Marvel Fighting-Armor line? They look really cool and look like they have good articulation, but they are relatively expensive, so I'd love to see a review first.
Sorry. I have no interest in those.
@@AnthonysCustoms ah dang. Thanks for responding anyway
honestly the only thing that would have elevated the figure is an unmasked Matt Murdoch head. Otherwise, stellar.
Dreaming of a Mafex Moon Knight.
That has nothing to do with the bad sculpts and proportions though
@@AnthonysCustoms i think the decisions Hasbro (like most big major companies) is making are based on efficiency rather than accuracy. That maybe lead to having some general and bad sculpts, idk?
This Mafex puts Legends on full blast. It's incredible what proper proportions and a little bit of paint will do for you. This Mafex actually looks like a literal superhero.
Daredevil is one of my favorite Marvel characters. Thank God my patience paid off because somebody finally did him justice.
Yep, buying this guy.
The sad part is, how many people will try to track down that ML one on the aftermarket vs getting this 😂
Mafex Of the Year for sure!!!
Whoa!😃
⭐⭐⭐1/2
Almost good.☕😁👍
5:16 Dammit that bit made me laugh
I'm with you, we need comic shaded DD, as well as Scarlet Spider...
The ML Daredevil got a BIG ASS head and TINY ASS shoulders at the same time LOL. I hate that torso gap when you lean back on Mafex figures. They exist on every figure and looks the worst on the Knighfall Batman. Otherwise they make pretty good figures these days.
Some ML fans in Reddit trashes this Mafex release, I really can’t see their point.
This daredevil has better paint and shading than any singular SHF release in the past 10 months
FP Frieza was near this level, but yeah less paint in general for SHF. I prefer it that way for anime figures.
@@pletho79 I’m just glad SHF doesn’t do the JoJo stuff, they proved that they can’t do well detailed anime figs with the berserk stuff imo
@AhenobarbusHenocied_ that's fair, I should say I like less paint for the simpler style anime SHF focuses on. Also, paint and details aren't really the issue with their Berserk line, but maybe they're on a learning curve to balance it with build quality.
@@pletho79 oh, 100%, I also prefer it in most cases, but a little bit more shading would really help justify the prices
I will say I recently picked up Tanjiro and he’s the first SHF figure I’ve bought that I have 0 problems with
I find the paint very interesting. I think it's mostly air brushing of shadow that avoids the boots, belt, gloves, and eyes, but it works well.
i think you have shown us your package more than the Diddler
I think the best recent example is the Jada street fighter figs compared to hasbro slop.
Marvel legends is such a waste of money bro dear god😂 Also bro I swear I hate maffexs batmans. They are all the stupid brolic ones or the blue ones.
We need a Matt Murdock head sculpt
Well done
Needs a place in my collection
I have no problem that figures are too slender. That is my complaint with Marvel figures - everyone is too muscular. Spider-Man and Nightcrawler are not a bulky guy. Cyclops used to be called slim.
Daredevil should look like an average man; he is a lawyer - suit and tie. He should not be like Hyperion or Thor.
You’re getting the wrong spidermen figures bro. Pizza spider body is perf
Flawless figure! He is super sexy and hot, the red color is a must have!
