Done! Actually last week! (Newsletter) Oh how I love your channel and your style. Super excited about your mid-week vlog as well. Thank you for giving us all a little more beauty in our lives by tuning in. Stay safe & cuddles to darling Sofie💕
Oh, how wonderful! Dear Nicolas, your shall be my very first proper teawear collection. I have decided I shall simply wait for it... It is such a joy to see you, read you and listen to you. Therefore, again, thank you!! Sending you much joy from my side as well xx Madalina
Hello Nicolas. I recently discovered your videos. I enjoy them very much and I love that you’re showing us some of your favorite interior books. I love collecting those as well. Do you have Barbra Streisand /My passion for design? It’s wonderful! If you haven’t seen it, I encourage you to check it out . I know you’d love it. I never knew she had such an eye for design and collected so many wonderful antiques. Her home is amazing. *I the got the book after watching her talking about it on Oprah- years ago! Haha! Thank you for sharing your ideas and interior style with us. All the best! -Carmen (from Alaska) =)
Excellent. Really looking forward to seeing the design previews for your homeware collection. Ideas for future vlogs - to vary afternoon tea a bit - so you do not serve the same every time, recipe for orange scented scones without fruit. How about making strawberry conserve or jam - as we will soon be in strawberry season. How to take and grow a plant cutting. Of course, I am looking forward to all the vlogs outside and around Edinburgh, but you will not always want to be outside.
Very well presented! I, too, share your passion for books, all type of books.... Books are like old, familiar friends, always there, always bringing a smile to your face, peace to your soul and warmth to your heart.
*IDEAS FOR NEXT VIDEOS* - Place setting collection (Plates, bowls, cups..) - Vintage/Antique collection - Vintage/Antique tours (Going to shops, buying tips..) - Wardrobe tour/Favorites: I'm curious if you like vintage clothing... - MOOD BOARD TOUR: Showing us your favorite atmospheres maybe through a Collage/Pinterest? Thanks so much, LOVE THIS CHANNEL :) Hugs from Spain
RUclips recommended your channel to me and I could not be more thankful! You have such a calming voice and presence. As a thirty year old who is a homebody, I sometimes wonder if I’m not exciting enough, and your channel helps me to be comfortable with being who I am! You are so confident in what you love and it is so refreshing. Have a wonderful weekend, Nicolas!
I really enjoyed seeing inside these beautiful books and hearing what it is you love about each of them. Thank you for sharing. I would like to recommend to you another sweet, beautiful, and undeniably cheerful book. The Picnic: Recipes and Inspiration from Basket to Blanket by Marnie Hanel, Andrea Slonecker and Jen Stevenson
As an American, thank you so much for your kind and appreciative view of First Lady Jacqueline Lee Bouvier Kennedy Onassis.Memories of her are fading but it should not be.Her wit and gentile manners should be revered for many years to come.Beautiful video as always, thank you.
After Nicolas recommended "Inspirational Interiors" a few vlogs ago; I ordered it and this beautiful book does not disappoint. Can't wait for the new Wednesday vlog vignettes.
I’m not always a big commenter, but I felt it necessary and proper today. It goes without saying how much you are enjoyed, thoroughly. When you said you had a big announcement, I figured it was something to join, financially. Then you ventured forth with how you were adding a video.. I waited for it.. the cost.. and then you said, it was to lift our spirits and get us through the hump of midweek. That’s when I new.. you are a class act.. and a giver, not just a taker. Someone that does for the joy it brings in being appreciated. I think our numbers are dwindling.. you give me great hope, and I thank you for it. You are a beauty, in all aspects.
Nick, Your passions for the little things, humility of heart, and teachable spirit are all the reasons we love to watch. Each video you produce is truly a symphony of serenity. Thank you. And thank you for your courage to be just you.
So wonderful, as always. Books have always been my best friends since I was young and they were my form of escape from a very unhappy household and school life. They've remained my best friends and I built up quite a library of over 600 books at one time. Unfortunately, I have sold many of them, I'm down to about a hundred and fifty of my favorites. I have found many signed and inscribed first editions in thrift shops for one or two dollars, including ones signed and inscribed by Erte, Jose Quintero, Mercedes D A'costa, Armistead Maupin, and many others. Whenever I've moved, my books always were shipped with me. Anyway, another wonderful episode, all of which I'm enjoying so much.
Delicious ...... Who doesnt need a wednesday pick me up? Touches my heart the way you know what we need. You literally have pulled me thru this quarantine.
I’m from California as well and I agree..I know you did one, but perhaps an update? You are fascinating -and I am interested in how people in other countries spend their day. Thank you so much for any video you do.. love this channel.
You have the most calming voice, which may be a representation of your tender soul. Thank you for sharing your understanding of beauty, harmony and style.
Nicolas, I keep coming back to this video because it has a calming effect on me. In addition to providing great information, you're also an awesome ASMRtist. ♥️
I enjoyed this most of all your blogs. I am an older person in a large Victorian house built in 1900 gothic style . We have lived here for 40 years. Both house and garden are my joy. I have both what would be now called vintage, curtains , cushions etc mainly Colfax and Fowler and William Morris. They are my favourites .i think the best way of designing your home is to think of what you love rather than follow designers.
That sounds so wonderful! We built our home in 1990 in the Queen Anne Victorian style but there is nothing like the character and quality of the real McCoy.😌
Dear Nicholas, I ordered “In And Out of the Garden” after your recommendation, and it’s just arrived. I wanted to say Thank You, what an absolutely delightful little book. As a keen gardener it really is a little treasure that I will keep forever ❤️
The first book you reviewed is the first interior design book I bought in 1990s. Beautiful book with classic ideas and styles. As relevant today as it was then. Thank you for the memories Nicholas. Best wishes from Ireland 💚
If you’re ever in Southern California I highly recommend a visit to the Huntington Library, Museum, and Botanical Gardens. It is the estate of Henry Huntington who made his fortune building railroads in the area over 100 years ago. Over the years he purchased works of art, manuscripts, and other artifacts from the declining English aristocracy at the time. And there is little doubt you haven’t seen the gardens before. Being near Los Angeles the gardens have been used in many films and television shows. A wonderful place my boyfriend and I love going to (and coincidentally the location of our first date!)
Oh this is wonderful information! I am actually going to be at a conference in Carlsbad in 2022??? Anyway I had known of the Huntington library because they have facsimile books of the dead sea scrolls. I had even thought about going there to maybe see if I could view the books? But now I know I’m going there!
The Huntington Library and Gardens is a special place for my family and I also. My first visit was in the 80’s and my children enjoyed the Tea Room so much I eventually opened one in Seattle. Books, gardens and tea💕 = Heaven
@@ChocolateAristocrat Well this is even more wonderful additional information! So when you say they have a tea do they have high tea? Oh I just went and looked they sure do! So I will save my first high tea for that important business trip of my husbands!
As much as I’ve evidently made you all so excited I hate being the bearer of some bad news. The Tea Room is currently closed for renovations. They plan to upgrade the indoor dining space and modernize the kitchen, develop new restrooms, and create a pavilion on the eastern side which would open up to the Shakespeare Garden for exterior dining. It plans to reopen in 2022 but I do not know when. Assumably by the summer season but I don’t know how they can be so quick.
@@davids6898 Well thank you for the update! As I stated I won’t be going until 2022 anyway. It’s a vectorworks Convention so it will take place in either April or November. I myself am hoping it’s November because of the whale watching season in Newport Beach California. So I will put it on the list to check in on either month. 😀
Thank you for sharing! I purchased the Second Bloom book after you recommended it in your floral arrangement video. It is indeed a beautiful work of art. Looking forward to Tea Time Treats!!! Thank you so much!
For a "tea time" video, take us on a visit to your favorite antique store, an estate sale, or "garage sale" (that's what we call them in the states) and show us things that catch your eye (things you are drawn to )or something that you would consider purchasing to bring it new life in your collection of things. Super excited that I get to enjoy your lovely content 2 times a week now! Yay!
This episode was wonderful! Thank you so much for taking us through the pages, pointing out beautiful details of each book with your soothing voice. It felt like experiencing story time again, a wonderful calming memory! Looking forward to more of this please!
I was hoping you’d make this video! Because I remember watching another video where you had mentioned a book you kept going back to since it was so comprehensive and timeless, and I was kicking myself that I didn’t write down the name and lost track of which video. Thanks for these recommendations. Your videos are always a delight!
Hello sweet boy, sending you love and hugs and blessings from your Gram in Massachusetts.....Thanks for the education on the books you showed. Coming from Massachusetts we never forget the Kennedys. I was 13 when the president got assassinated, and stays fresh in my mind where I was when that happened. Thank you for honoring the First lady, she was the epitome of grace and class..
Oh my Nicolas videos two times a week🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️ Exciting news!!!! Wow! Another fabulous video. My husband and I love books like these. So happy about book about Jackie Kennedy Onassis. She loved architecture. The picture in the book you showed us of Jackie, Caroline, and John Jr. when John was a baby I actually have a black and white 8 by 10 when my sister wrote a letter to Jackie and her staff sent a copy of that picture to my sister! My husband and I are going refresh our book collection with these you have so graciously shared with us! Thank You! See you next Wednesday. Sending love and hugs 🤗 God bless you!
Hello from Miami, Florida U.S.A.! I just "found" you and have been binge watching your videos which are all MAGNIFICENT!!! You are an amazing young man (I say young man because I will be 70 tomorrow Lord willing). I am enjoying them all so much. You have talent beyond your years and then some. Your voice is so soothing that I think you should record a relaxation CD. I felt so relaxed after each video and then I realized it was you voice. I adore your home so much that I have no words good enough to use to describe it. I wish you the best in all your future endeavors. Keep those videos coming.
Thank yoU Nicolas so much! Great food for thought this episode! I hope yoU had fun at your garden party last episode🌾 Im looking forward to your bonus episode each week on Wednesday. Wishing yoU continued inspiration...until next time💛
You are really educating me Nicolas. I thought I would have no interest in these books and I found myself completely engrossed. I also find my eyes closing sometimes and I find the reason being that you have such a soft lovely relaxing voice. You should run courses teaching people how to talk and behave. You’re one in a million.
Also, thank you for sharing your private books. They are all wonderful. My favorite book is very petite. It's a copy of Diaries of a Young Poet, Rilke. I feel I am in the room with him and I find a lot of inspiration visiting.
Classic, flowered chintz will never, ever go out of style. I really love polished chintz which is what I grew up with. It's so nice and cool for summer and it brightens up a room so much. I think you commented in one of your videos that you were thinking of recovering your flowered chairs and I gasped. I think they are so classic and timeless. I hope you do another chintz. Sidenote: I want "Cathy's" Nantucket cottage! It's just incredible..
Thank you Nicholas such a beautifully calming video. It's 2am Saturday morning and I'm struggling to sleep because of a house move that's giving me literally sleepless nights. Your wonderful soothing voice and divine books have taken my mind of moving stress and replaced with ideas glimpsed from the pages of your books. I am thrilled to hear that you are to give us even more of your time and looking forward to seeing you soon x
Thank you Nicholas for taking me along on the Journey of your favorite books your calming voice made it so interesting that it actually put me right there in the book on the pages, walking room to room looking at the design's. Have a safe and wonderful week ahead.
I find it’s much more satisfying thumbing through large glossy coffee table books with beautiful photography and wonderful colour, than viewing online. The Jacki-O auction catalogue was really cool.
Another beautiful, restful video. Thank you for the 2 x a week video idea. I am so happy to hear the news! You really are such a special person. I can’t help but feel life is so much better now that I’ve found you and am appreciating the small things so much more. Sending you a hug x
I enjoyed today’s video! As usual, your taste in books is absolutely exquisite. My last job before I retired was working on the “Jackie O “ exhibit at the Met. Museum of Art in NYC. At the beginning of my design career I worked at Scalamandre Silks, in NYC., where Jackie visited often. I was fortunate to meet her. Her apartment in New York was right across the street from The Met, where I would see her jogging wearing her signature large sunglasses. She was a very lovely woman, with such elegance. Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday.
I loved seeing all of these treasures. My favorite, I believe, is Veere Greene. And in and out of the garden. Thank you so much, Nicholas, for sharing these with us.
Totally wonderful episode especially as most of Canada is back in various states of lockdown! Beauty is so important now!!! Gardens, flowers, tea settings, understanding how to really fancy up a table and making use of light!!! Thanks for ALL you do!!!! 🌹🌹🌹🌎🌍🌏🚲🚲🚲⛵⛵⛵
As always , Nicolas you have inspired us and made our weekend so special. I for one try to do or make something you do. Recipes or arrangements or making my bed beautiful. Thanks to you I have grown to see the beautiful things in life that we either take for granted or not see at all. Bless you Nicolas for bring into this uncertain time a sense of calmness and beauty. I would love if you take us shopping with you. Love from Maine,USA 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸
Hi Nicky, I love your channel and I have a sweet little story for you. I'm German but I've loved classical English interior style for a long time. Many years ago when my now husband was my new boyfriend we went shopping for Christmas presents. At a book store with a large foreign book section in Cologne I fell madly in love with the book by Roger Banks-Pye. Although it was out of his budget my boyfriend bought it for me and I perused this book hundreds of times... Fast forward 26 years, I happen upon your RUclips channel and I so enjoy your videos and your beautiful home! When I saw today's caption I said to myself I bet that Nicky has the Roger Banks-Pye book in this video. I don't know what made me so sure, maybe the loving little arrangements you create around your flat? I'm so happy I found your channel, keep creating beautiful and inspirational videos please! Love from Germany, Uta
I really enjoyed the books with your added commentary. You’re a delight to watch and your idea of a midweek treat is welcoming for us all, thank you for taking us away into a beautiful majestic peaceful world you live in each week.
Yes! Two videos, thank you. I enjoyed sharing your favorite books. It felt like I was right there. My favorite book was In and Out Of The Garden bc it was simple with beautiful illustrations
Roger Banks Pye is a hero of mine. His use of blue and white, his use of moldings. Valentino’s bathroom is my be-all and end-all. His use of fabric on a floor blew me away. I love your style and follow you avidly!
I used to make collage journals of room layouts and furniture that appealed to me! And I used to add paint swatches, I loved the variety of colors! I find color theory so interesting! Color can make so much statement in the room! Or art, one piece of functional art can have the ability to theme a wall! Really big into functional and fashionable interior design!
In and out of the garden, by Sara Midda❣️ I love this one too❣️ I was lucky to have bought it when it came out before I was married many years ago. 🙏🏻✨♥️📖
I copied your dusting technique and am going on two weeks dust free. Love you for showing us all this valuable trick. I am very excited for two reasons, first I am giving my first ever tea with 3 lifelong friends invited and second that you will be on you tube twice a week. Yea!
Thank you Nicolas once again x you brighten up my day so much and I really enjoyed looking through your favourite books with you. I so look forward to your videos. Thank you so much and have a great weekend. ♥️♥️♥️
Your videos are my treat for the day! Thank you for adding another video per week too.. I have been watching your videos again to get that extra boost of delight. You ARE the sunshine. Thank you so much for doing what you do for us.❤️
Hello from Virginia, USA. I Love Coffee Table Books too! Your Interior Design book from the 90’s shows such a Beautiful Classic Style. This video gave me a great idea to invite a friend over and have them bring their favorite coffee table books. What great conversations we can have while we sip on tea. 😊 Thanks for the inspiration. I will be trying out and having some of your tea sandwich recipes. Looking forward to your Wednesday videos also. Have a Fun day!
I am fortunate to have a library, which I organized and culled during this past winter's lock down. I am happy to say I have room for more books! And your last recommendation is going into my collection, just in time for late-spring planting!
Yes. Blue and white is always nice, and I added burgundy velvet in the upholstery to warm it up. I also used a Queen Anne full bonnet top highboy in a bedroom to add architectural detail.
A lady in our small agrarian community taught Jacqueline Bouvier at the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, Maryland. You actually captivated my attention with this video of your favorite books! I love every book! Please share more of your collection!
Having a beautiful book on a table gives a room personality! I love the colors in the pictures and mostly the feel of the paper from a book! Thanks for sharing your favorites.
I love this video Nicolas! Thank you for showing us inside each book and giving such a nice overview of the flavor of each one. I am slowly building up my collection and have enjoyed each one you have recommended. You are such a gem!!!
Love the idea of an auction catalog as a book of inspiration. Thank you for sharing your abundance of beauty and insights. Many blessings wished your way. Xoxo
Love your videos, very relaxing great to sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy. You have a soothing voice. Thank you for some inspiring ideas on all your videos, ❤️
Thanks for sharing Nicholas this was soooooo beautiful satisfying and inspiring you have lovely hands I also loved the beautiful illistrations I am a watercolourist I loved soooooo much these features thank you so much. Thank you so much for the two vids a week BUT please do not tire yourself Nicholas 🙌
Such a lovely, soothing video. It's obvious Nicholas truly loves these books. As a book lover myself I understand how he caresses the pages and appreciates the quality.
A Wednesday treat as well? That is so wonderful. I shall make myself a pot of tea on Wednesday and look forward to your midweek video... thank you Nicolas! Have a lovely weekend, xxx
Nicolas even though I am vision impaired and have been unable to browse through a book for a long time I thoroughly enjoyed this journey through your favourite books with you 😘 as a suggestion for future videos maybe you could explain different styles of furniture such as Chippendale Queen Anne etc
Thank you for sharing this history of books especially our past presidents Kennedy and wife.yes right now daughter is still living and beautiful children she have too. I love the first book of decorations homes, and gorgeous colors so soft looks…and Kathy is amazing too, love her studio and all her amazing decorations too and designing too💫💫🙋♀️💫💫
I really love your channel. You have such a calming voice. I love to hear the accent. Thanks a lot for sharing these lovely ideas and info. They are real inspirations for us.
I so appreciate your specific and detailed review of your favorite books. It really provides insight into the books to understand which ones are of interest to me and they also reveal which ones have inspired you on your journey.
What a wonderful way to end the work week. With the always elegant, classy NF and his beautiful, soothing voice. I listen to whatever your subject is and feel the stress fall away. Excited to see you post twice a week! Hurrah! Great job as alway Nicolas Fairford. Good job!
Nicolas, I’ve loved every episode you’ve produced, but I have to admit that this is my favorite so far! I love beautiful books, too, and you’ve given some wonderful recommendations. I definitely want to add some to my collection. Thank you for being so generous with your time in making these amazing videos. I’ve learned so much from you, and I do look forward to them. And, the fact that you’re adding a second video in the weekly lineup is exciting! Thank you, again and much love and blessings to you!
Watching your video the other day it was most comforting to see someone who adores books like me and also can’t part with beautiful magazines ! I am terribly fussy and won’t let anyone borrow them for fear of damage. I have bought from National Trust another lovely book this afternoon on the British coast and country with wonderful photography. You can see from your home that your choice of beautiful fabric and porcelain mean a great deal to you and getting inspiration from your choice of reading material.

A real pleasure to meet you on Fridays, thank you for sharing your exquisite and special idea of beauty.
Love from Italy.
Thank you so much! x
Yay!
Great idea - Thank you so much
This episode was wonderful!
Thank you so much for taking us through the pages, pointing out beautiful details of each book with your soothing voice.
It felt like experiencing story time again, a wonderful calming memory!
Looking forward to more of this please!
I'm so glad to know that you enjoyed this episode!
You truly are perfection ! Bless
So kind - thank you x
I was hoping you’d make this video! Because I remember watching another video where you had mentioned a book you kept going back to since it was so comprehensive and timeless, and I was kicking myself that I didn’t write down the name and lost track of which video. Thanks for these recommendations. Your videos are always a delight!
So glad it was useful! x
Such a useful video. I loved all those books. A rummage in your bookcase would be a complete delight.
I would love a video about linen and fabrics
Good idea!
Thanks for your kind words!
Thank s Angel . I too love books . When I down sized I still moved 10 ooo ponds of books . I can not live without books .❤️
Thank yoU Nicolas so much! Great food for thought this episode! I hope yoU had fun at your garden party last episode🌾
Im looking forward to your bonus episode each week on Wednesday. Wishing yoU continued inspiration...until next time💛
No matter how busy my day is.....I know I can unwind and relax while enjoying your videos 🌷🌻
Thank you for all of the great book ideas and happy that we will be seeing you Wednesday.
I loved seeing all of these treasures. My favorite, I believe, is Veere Greene. And in and out of the garden. Thank you so much, Nicholas, for sharing these with us.
So glad you enjoyed this one
Totally wonderful episode especially as most of Canada is back in various states of lockdown! Beauty is so important now!!! Gardens, flowers, tea settings, understanding how to really fancy up a table and making use of light!!! Thanks for ALL you do!!!! 🌹🌹🌹🌎🌍🌏🚲🚲🚲⛵⛵⛵
Sending you my thoughts x
@@NicolasFairford Thank you!
I am so excited that you are adding Tea Time Treats! This will be so nice and so positive! Thank you!
Mr Charm and Elegance personified, very rare in someone so young, really enjoy your channel.
Yay! A new video! Going to pour a cup of tea, sit back, and enjoy this🥰
Hope you enjoyed it!
I copied your dusting technique and am going on two weeks dust free. Love you for showing us all this valuable trick. I am very excited for two reasons, first I am giving my first ever tea with 3 lifelong friends invited and second that you will be on you tube twice a week. Yea!
I need to revisit interior design books
Another lovely video. Thank you. Looking forward to your new mid-week videos! Stay safe!
Thank you Nicolas once again x you brighten up my day so much and I really enjoyed looking through your favourite books with you. I so look forward to your videos. Thank you so much and have a great weekend. ♥️♥️♥️
Oh thank you! I can’t get enough of your videos so I’m very pleased to hear you will have 2 per week. Yay!
Your videos are my treat for the day! Thank you for adding another video per week too.. I have been watching your videos again to get that extra boost of delight.
You ARE the sunshine. Thank you so much for doing what you do for us.❤️
Thanks for this video Nicolas . It was really informative and relaxing . Loved the ambiance. Works every time , just in time for a relaxing weekend x
Glad you used your silver teapot... so elegant!
I am fortunate to have a library, which I organized and culled during this past winter's lock down. I am happy to say I have room for more books! And your last recommendation is going into my collection, just in time for late-spring planting!
Glad to hear that!
It’s true. Even though the styles may change, the ideas you can pick up are timeless. Thank you. Have a blessed weekend Nicolas.
Wonderful Friday vlog as usual so now looking forward to Wednesday thank you Nicolas for such interesting content.
Very informative vlog. I liked the way you shot the vlog and took us through each book. Very good. Thank you for sharing.
Love the idea of an auction catalog as a book of inspiration. Thank you for sharing your abundance of beauty and insights. Many blessings wished your way. Xoxo

Such a lovely, soothing video. It's obvious Nicholas truly loves these books. As a book lover myself I understand how he caresses the pages and appreciates the quality.
Hi,Nicolas. I now see you make a lot of preperation and efforts to show us a good episode each and every week.Thank you very much .
I’m purchasing a home soon and you are giving me wonderful ideas! Thank you!
I love your idea for Wednesdays - thank you! This is one of my favorite channels and you have inspired me so much with your elegant simplicity!!
Thank you, again and much love and blessings to you!
i hope you can feature the public gardens in UK, i love visiting gardens when I visit different countries.
Yes, indeed, gardens are my go to when traveling; well, when I use to travel!
I LOVE visiting gardens - hoping to do more of that this Summer x
Watching your video the other day it was most comforting to see someone who adores books like me and also can’t part with beautiful magazines ! I am terribly fussy and won’t let anyone borrow them for fear of damage.
I have bought from National Trust another lovely book this afternoon on the British coast and country with wonderful photography.
You can see from your home that your choice of beautiful fabric and porcelain mean a great deal to you and getting inspiration from your choice of reading material.
