I really like the idea of Julia. At first the mother nature chill loving girl turns out to be a slefish influencer girl who only cares about her self and as the season goes on she beacomes more and more mean and cruel. It's really realistic and i like that
@@mattgroening8872 She IS the most realistic character on the show. You won't believe HOW many people act like that as teenagers, especially in a school. The only "unrealistic" thing is that she doesn't swear at all, using "butt knuckles" as an alternative, but that's to be expected as Total Drama is still meant to be a kids show, even with the many elements that make it far from a kids show.

I do think Chase and Emma have a purpose. They're supposed to be a parody and a satirical comment on toxic modern relationships. I think they handle it pretty realistically and well, especially with how much of an over the top hilarious douche Chase can be (I really like when he's reacting to other characters like Priya and Zee). Not only that, but nobody in the cast roots for them and Bowie loses all respect for Emma, it's intentionally a toxic bad relationship.

Honestly it’s refreshing that they took the positive things from previous seasons and know the bad ones and fix it. Like getting rid of the typical over the blown stereotypes like pahkitew. I enjoy this cast like island and revenge. They seem more human and have more interactions than pahkitew had

I wouldn't call Chase a literally nothing character just because he didn't develop. The guy is clearly meant to be a parody of e-celebs like Jake Paul, who are terrible people without realizing it, but still get rewarded by the end of the day. He fits more with the likes of Ripper and Zee, as he was clearly more of a comic relief character who's humor comes from his obliviousness, but unlike the other 2 the writers clearly want you to hate Chase, and see him getting back together with Emma to be a terrible thing. They are obviously going to break up next season. This season was meant to play their trope full on straight, with the next season hopefully making both of them develop and grow out of their stereotypes. I myself found Chase to be a really funny character. I DO NOT like his actions, but it was funny how the show made him more and more terrible, even going out of their way to turn him into a sexist in the finale. The fact that by the end he was willing to let go of Emma and wish her a good life shows that the guy isn't completely irredeemable, just a really badly raised kid who needs someone to have a good talk with him. He can develop and hope the second season will do that. Lots of people think him and Emma will get the Bridgette and Geoff treatment, but I highly doubt they're just going to repeat an elimination from the past like that, especially when this season was filled with nothing but unique eliminations.
Exactly. People miss the intention of Chase, he has a lot of good moments like his first time reaction to the word "selfless". And the way he laughs at Priya and Millie + his dynamic with Zee and Ripper is genuinely amazing.
I forgot to mention the sudden "Chase is sexist" joke in the finale, but that was one of my favorite jokes of the season lmao - to get to the bulk of your comment, I think the bulk of Chase's problem is not that the writers want you to hate him, as they also want you to hate Ripper and he's my favorite character in the cast, but that it feels like unlike any other character in this season, especially who get as far as Chase, he doesn't have any attributes besides "dumb influencer." If they do try and do a curveball with his character in the next season, I think his appearance in this one will age better, but without it, he feels like one of the shallowest characters in this really developed cast.
I also don't like the comparison to Geoff Geoff had an off time when he and bridgette fought and he got too much power but then they redeemed him in ridonculous race, he even showed how nice he was in ridonculous race by him and brody letting a pair get ahead eliminating them, then they get rewarded for that later by getting to come back and win, plus he still was always better than chase is.
Tbh I picked Priya as the season winner when she said she was trained her whole life, but I didn't want her to win. I would have liked it if she lost and her arc was that she didn't actually had to win the show to please her parents. Ripper was funny af idc what anyone says.
I think that Total Drama is one of the few shows that can really pull off the “gen z influencer” thing and not come off as entirely cringe or awkward about it. The cast has always been stereotypical and exaggerated since the beginning so those types of characters fit right in

the representation of the season was great honestly . the jokes zee makes about lying about his leg and a prosthetic being his favorite leg are the kinds of jokes a lot of disabled gen z actually make and the plotline of wayne trying to get raj to come out and be a good friend and ally was surprisingly wholesome when i watched it but it was very nice to have since a lot of the lgbtq+ community likes that kind of thing and it was nice to see a storyline with a closeted character that didn't go horribly wrong . i normally just find myself kinda annoyed with most of the guys in total drama but the guys this season were pretty great for the most part . even tho i don't like chase and ripper that's what they were going for . a lot of the gags and jokes this season got me and my siblings when we watched it and i feel like the total drama humor is very much still present but without any of the ignorance the earlier seasons had . this has to be one of if not my favorite season to date .
Emma was easily the worst part of the season for me. As soon as I heard about her, I realized exactly where it was going. I was the Bowie to not one, but THREE different Emma’s. Most of the time, unwillingly. I can feel the pain that Bowie has, of genuinely liking her as a human being, but despising the fact that all she ever talks about is her love life, and then how willing she is to get back into a toxic relationship. It’s fucking awful, and a train wreck to watch. I really hope this affects more Emma’s out there in the world, as they watch, and realize exactly who they are.
I feel like your dislike for Emma is more about you and your personal life than it is about her. Let's not act like Bowie wasn't feeding off of the relationship she had with Chase. He wanted to manipulate it until it didn't work out which is what we saw. You're probably just the gay best friend who has no voice. It's not the same.
Ripper doing the Floss at the end gave me inspiration, a new light to shine on my views on the world. I finally felt the touch of a woman who isn't my mom, my grades are getting better, and I finally went outside and found these sharp small green things called "Blades of Grass" whatever that is.
my only nitpick with this season is that they made the jump from "nice julia" to "asshole julia" too quickly. her moment in the confessional where she's like "*(deep sigh)* Nope. Not today..." before tearing that dinosaur to shreads would've been more iconic if she had a slow build up of small moments where she struggles to stay nice instead of saying something bitchy so people will like her. I feel like suddenly making her a big bad after being a chill Instagram influencer in the background of the first episode is the only small downside to her character. overall great season
She actually does say a couple of things to Emma in particular that are pretty rude, saying she doesn't care about her looks and should take a shower. I've actually had her break character in my fic when an OC ends up in the glass tube in Episode 3 with her (because they had an extra contestant) and because they're close together and the cameras won't hear if they whisper, Julia threatens the OC and insults her, smiling the whole time so no one can tell what she's saying. The OC thinks Julia dislikes her specifically. She doesn't know yet that she hates everyone equally for different reasons and only discriminates levels if someone actually tries to annoy her.
YESS SOMEONE ELSE WHO THINKS DAMIAN AND MK ARE FOR SURE THE FINALISTS imo they both have like a surplus of potential to be great competitors and were taken out too early to shine I don’t think this season has characters I hate. Ripper and Chase are annoying, but not in a begrudging way, but in a way that’s hilarious and that I LOVE to hate! I think my favorite character is Emma. I understand perfectly well why people hate her but imo she’s hilarious and I hope she gets some significant time without chase in s2
I thought it would have been cool if Damian lasted a bit longer with his resolve to win, but kept that fact within the confessionals, revealing he's playing the contestants. Outside of the confessionals he'd still try to make the others think he wanted to be voted off. Then you can have the same-style elimination where he does so well that the others give him his wish, and it's a better pay-off for the joke as he thought he'd go all the way.
I didn't think TDI 2.0 was gonna be bad but I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. I'm already attached to Bowie, Julia, Wayne, Raj, Zee, and Emma. And even the cringey parts make me feel nastalgic, I hate Ripper the same way I remember hating Cady and Sadie. 😌
That’s cool my favorite is Priya, and others are Wayne, Raj, Emma and Scary girl. Rippers a jerk but for some reason reminds me of someone I used to know in real life. But I can’t figure out who.
I honestly don’t like how Priya won, it’s was obvious from the first second she’s introduced that she was going to win which made me hope she would get eliminated instead as a neat subversion
plus, it'd show that being trained doesn't always hold up- especially to genuinely smart social planning and sabotages CAN WORK like with bowie's plays. It'd be thematic as hell for priya to value her friendship over what her parents wanted for her- and bowie to get the win because he put EVERYTHING into that win.
I hope eventually characters get to come back, as we see with Nichell Rock and spud are still “young” meaning the RR characters didn’t age that much- even though Prya has been training her whole life - so the time is weird - but gives way for peoples return 😌
I also wanna say it’s great that you’re a Ripper fan even if I’m not. Despite me not being a fan of him personally, I’ll admit he did have a few funny moments.
My only nit pick with this season was that the character designs of the contestants were pretty lack luster, at least compared to second and third generation casts.
That was one of the reasons people disliked the third generation cast, the show is meant to represent teenagers of their generation and I believe this one captures teenagers of this time perfectly whilst including some exception characters (Axel, Scary Girl). It also manages to have characters such as Bowie, Wayne and Raj who you do see in real life except it’s more specific. I like the genericness as you can’t guess character types

Yeah I'm not particularly sold on the character designs overall. They're less stupid than Pahkitew's designs, but they don't feel as natural and yet iconic as Island's and RotI's.
Damian was the character I gravitated towards the most in the introduction. I was a little nervous that he was copying the whole “I made buttons to promote eliminating me” joke from Dave, but he quickly stops wanting to be eliminated, and even though he’s sent packing right afterwards as a joke, I’m really excited to see how he’ll do now that he actually wants to win. Also part of me really thinks that they’ll go one of two ways with Caleb next season. Either he’s actually smart as he claims in his elimination, and he makes it incredibly far the second time due to thought-out strategies, or he does way less to give his team the impression that he’s not a huge threat only to be one of the first gone again as a gag where the team eliminates him for not contributing XD
my head Canon for how wawanakwa came back is that the down time between pakitew and this season is they placed elevated platforms after draining the lake and then they filled it in with a garden hose.
I honestly think Priya deserved the win. She's trained her whole life for this and came pretty prepared. I love Bowie so I definitely would've been fine with either one winning, but I do think Priya worked for it more just because of her parents. I honestly really like what they did this season for the final two, with Priya being more qualified for the actual challenges and Bowie being more qualified for the social aspect of the show.
Eh, I feel like it definitely doesn't seem thematically. It's very obviously and overwhelmingly depicted that Priya's childhood was terrible, but her parents won in the end. It was all justified in the universe. Priya gets everything she wants and more, and it's all because of her parents. It's a kids show and the messaging isn't too bad but it just feels like a swing and miss, like the show is justifying child abuse

Thematically, you could have priya value her friendship more than the win in the end and realizing millie was right- and bowie's strategy is actually GENIUS for a show like total drama.
Me too, Priya is my favorite of this generation. I wish I could have seen her parents when she won. I’m really curious as to how they’d react and what they’d say about what she really wants to do after all that
I think it could be a very good direction to create an alliance between MK and Ripper, MK being the main villain of the next season using ripper to get her way.
The one issue I had with this season is that Priya is the ''trained fighter'' yet at every challange where she got the spotlight she fucked up. Not once did she show off her skill... She just... failed. A lot. Also outside of challanges. She was just quite dumb for someone who should know all

I don’t have actual tv anymore but whenever it comes to streaming, I’ll be down to try it out. The original will FOREVER have a place in my heart (especially Duncan and Gwen) because it came out in summer 2007 which I was about to go into 8th grade when summer ended. It was a rare show that me and my two siblings ALL loved and were able to watch together and enjoy. I was 13 and as soon as I saw Duncan, had a huge crush on him. As we started to learn about him I loved his personality, hard exterior with a soft sweet side deep inside which isn’t unlike a lot of anime characters I enjoyed. Gwen was also another quick one I enjoyed, I loved how she was just herself. She wanted to win but (I haven’t watched it in forever so please correct me if I’m wrong) she didn’t really ever go against her personal morals. She was sweet but strong and had amazing style. All the original characters were really good and imo well developed in their own ways. In the original (according to Google anyway) Duncan was 17 and if you go by real life releases (supposedly World Tour debuted in 2010) I was a year younger than he was in the OG one. Sorry for this novel but, the original will always hold a special place in my heart but I’d be willing to give a chance to a new group of characters and hopefully like them as the new group just because the writers did so well in the original and most of the following seasons. Still wish Duncan won though.
Oh wow we have the same top 2 prediction for next season! I kinda wrote an entire elimination order for it and it sounds very fun I’m so hyped. Also I really do like Emma, mostly because I know she will break up again most likely in season 2 and she is just so chaotic which I love, and I hate chase cause he’s nothing+sexist so there’s that.

Actually the show was green lit with 2 seasons that were made at the same time, it’s already made! Unfortunately some of it has leaked 🙄 but apparently it’s airing this fall in Italy, who knows about everywhere else tho

I've seen total drama when it came out long ago. I never expected it to come back after the final, but wow, after year, it's back ima watch it when it comes to the USA channels sad that the voices changed but with those reasons why I'm shocked and I understand but hopefully I can get use to this change in roles can't wait to see it soon. After years since the last episode.

I kinda wish M.K wasn't eliminated I thought she was gonna be able to manipulate everyone into thinking Julia was the one who hacked the confessionals but I guess everyone just turned around and believed Julia when she mentioned poop so whatever. I just hope she has a longer run next time around she was one of my faves this season.
I really enjoyed this season! It felt like it had the Total Drama spirit, but leaned even more into the reality tv competition aspect. The new cast was mostly great, and I was overall satisfied with the outcome even if I was rooting for Bowie more. I think they handled a lot of representation really well this season too which was very nice to see! I do hope we get more and different character interactions in the following season with this cast, as there is a lot of untapped potential to be had.
OK, I haven't finished the video yet, but I just wanna say about Chris now that I know his voice actor is Don's... They should've just put Don in this season instead of Chris. They also should've set it on a different island but I'm getting ahead of myself. Chris had descended into madness basically. It would've been nice to just start with a (relatively) new host who was more sane and suave rather than resetting a previously established character. Plus, I quite like Don and how witty he was in RR. It would've been interesting to see Don interact with Chef.
Never thought I'd see a Ripper apologist. To me his jokes are to repetitive and one note to actually be funny. He would of worked a lot better as an early boot instead of keeping him around for the fart fetish episode.
Definitely a pretty good/great season and return to form for the show. The only episode that I would say didn’t work too well was episode 5(for obvious reasons😅), but it was still pretty dang good. I love how it felt more reality tv show like than past seasons. Here’s how I personally rank the characters: 1. Bowie 2. Julia 3. Priya 4. MK 5. Wayne 6. Raj 7. Damien 8. Lauren/Scary Girl 9. Zee 10. Millie 11. Axel 12. Nichelle 13. Caleb 14. Emma 15: Ripper 16. Chase 1-9 I either loved or really enjoyed, 10-13 I found either solidly enjoyable or ok, and 14-16 I either disliked or loathed entirely(Chase!😡) Can’t wait for next season!

I definitely kind of like think Island and World Tour and Revenge surpass this season (not by a lot honestly) I’m still deciding whether rr or tdi23 but it’s looking like tdi23 might be my fave.

I loved the season and all the characters but a lot of their stories felt so self contained. Like I cannot remember a single relationship Priya and Millie had with anyone except each other. Sure they talk to others but who else are they friends with? I feel like it would’ve been fine if they weren’t 2 out of 3 of the finalists. In the original, Trent liked Gwen who was friends with DJ, Duncan, leshawna and Bridgette who were with Courtney, Harold and Geoff respectively. Gwen also had beef with heather who tried to get with Trent, bullied leshawna and Harold, pressured birdgette to join her alliance which involved 2 more characters. With the exception of Bowie who had relationships with Raj, Emma, and Julia, most of the characters seemed very self contained in their story. Even group scenes like the campers fangirling over Nichelle weren’t meant to build relationships between Nichelle and others, it was to set up her failing at the challenge later in the episode. But this season ate and I loved it
I really dont know if older seasons had this much... idk what to call it-- "real life reference"? But it feels like, the more that animated media leans on real life and it's shitty patterns, the less I'm gonna like it personally? As much as humans and their motivations and behaviors can be timeless, seeing them in a way that mirrors our reality too closely is just.. idk less entertaining and more of a drag. I don't see this cast as "an array of quirky characters with traits that ground them to make them relatable to real life people, yet flawed to make them entertaining", i just see "real life people being put on the show and they suck cuz people just do." If I wanted to see that I'd just go back to school. Edit for clarification: When I say "our reality" I just mean like time capsule pop-culture references like there being influencers and theyre vapid and shitty just like real life, like that's pretty on the nose lol
I watched it like a few hours ago and I really liked it! I thought it was pretty fun all the way through, albeit a bit rushed at times, but still great! What I think would be interesting to see in the second season would actually be seeing a friendship between Damian and Scary Girl. It would be an odd dynamic, which only makes me more confused as to why I thought of it, but I think it could still be fun! Like they obviously won’t find themselves becoming friends at first, but maybe they end up finding a common interest in something (maybe like a scary movie franchise they both like) and they grow to have a pretty wholesome, albeit odd friendship.
I might be in the minority but i actually liked Don, i was taken back first that there was another host but i find him very likeable so i got used to the new voice quickly
Along with Damien, Emma was the most grounded character but they made her dirty. in the next season I hope Chase gets mature and accepts reject for good, and Emma gets back to being friends with Bowie among others.

One of chase or Emma need to go early. We can not spend another season with their romance and hatred being so prominent. Emma has more potential as a stand alone than chase so I think chase should go early Scary girl is very gimmicky there’s not an insane a lot to do with her so I think she’ll be fine soon Ripper was there for a bit too long. Nobody on the cast likes him so he’ll make a mistake or two and get kicked out The Canadians are too close together in terms of who they are, so I think one goes early and the other gets more development. Raj and Bowie will probably develop further so that leads to Wayne getting voted I do not think mk will the main villain. I think she’ll be out early again I think Julia and Bowie will be on the same team and fight for control, one will be kicked out but the other will go soon after Axel could definitely make the merge but I do not see her going too long Caleb will probably be the secondary antagonist. Being a nice girl didn’t work well for him so he’s more of a jerk and goes further because of it I think priya will make it far again but she just won so it doesn’t make sense for her to win again I think Zee gets the under dog run but falls just short of winning Michelle and Damien make sense as the finalist for me.
my only problem in this season is everyone has a neutral personality,even the chaotic ones are too neltral,and the problem of the every atual show,very rushed, but still a really good show i wish the next season could be better
Wayne & Raj seem to be heavily based on characters from Letterkenny, who are basically the same. I would not be surprised if there's a Jared Keeso voiced character at some point.
I remember when the first total drama island came out. I was watching Canada's on RUclips and even became friends with the uploader. He was so determined to make sure we all were at least able to finish it as a whole. He had to make 2 channels, 1 on another website I forgot the name. The part where Heather was getting told off I felt special watching it before they censored it in the US. Even the word for balls were censored. The puke was also ahead of any show and I feel old since it came out my freshman year. Props to the people that were able to watch the new seasons. I just can't after all stars. I watched all the seasons but I didn't see any replay value besides the first season but I didn't really care to rewatch previous seasons. I wonder what censorship we will be seeing here

I do get this whole hate Ripper thing and with good reason especially his rude behaviour I don’t really hate him because to me picking characters I like feels similar to picking a good friend by using my instincts and to me Ripper is more like a likeable jerk like Wario and Homer Simpson who just likes to rub their egos on others plus I would like to see his rivalry with Axel to go longer next season it makes good comedy.
Thank you for stating the obvious about Lauren. She's boring, unbearable and forced. She's the problem Pahkitew had with their villains: evil for the sake of being evil (in this case, mad). I also started liking Emma but I hated that she got back with Chase specially because IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. She just assumes he's doing things for her (either saying sorry or throwing the challenge for her to win) when in reality he wasn't. That is bullshit. Chase is just kinda there I think, as you said, no purpose for him. I dislike Ripper though, I'm sorry lol And I LOVE Priya. She's my favorite character, she's a real try-hard and that doesn't make her a bland character like Zoey or Sky. In the end, she just wants to win so she can get free of her parents and that's awesome. I love Millie too, specially her character development.
It was pretty obvious for most of the season that Millie would float to 3rd place, and Bowie's strategies would carry him to the finale for him to only lose to Priya, validating all her training enforced by her parents. Still fun to watch, but completely expected. I want to see Bowie's ending when it releases, not only would it be a great subversion for the strategist to win and the essentially-protagonist to lose, Bowie is also a very easy strategist to root for, he's a very entertaining character, and unlike previous seasons he's rarely painted as a villain for his strategies, and he also handles his romance more intelligently than any other Total Drama character by putting it aside until after the competition and explaining this well to Raj
i cannot wait for a bowie W i feel like he deserves it the most, being a genuine villain antagonist with likeable traits and the first openly gay character- it'd be a hell of a thematically appropriate win compared to priya's abuse being justified

Scary Girl is peak Pahkitew haha. Yeah it would have been awesome if she got to slowly come out of her persona and bond with Priya/Damien over why she is the way she is, but alas this season is filled with missed opportunities.

I really like the idea of Julia. At first the mother nature chill loving girl turns out to be a slefish influencer girl who only cares about her self and as the season goes on she beacomes more and more mean and cruel. It's really realistic and i like that

The only "unrealistic" thing is that she doesn't swear at all, using "butt knuckles" as an alternative, but that's to be expected as Total Drama is still meant to be a kids show, even with the many elements that make it far from a kids show.

I do think Chase and Emma have a purpose. They're supposed to be a parody and a satirical comment on toxic modern relationships. I think they handle it pretty realistically and well, especially with how much of an over the top hilarious douche Chase can be (I really like when he's reacting to other characters like Priya and Zee). Not only that, but nobody in the cast roots for them and Bowie loses all respect for Emma, it's intentionally a toxic bad relationship.
I personally hope they’re eliminated early for the sequel, they lasted too long just for them to do the same thing over and over

Honestly it’s refreshing that they took the positive things from previous seasons and know the bad ones and fix it. Like getting rid of the typical over the blown stereotypes like pahkitew. I enjoy this cast like island and revenge. They seem more human and have more interactions than pahkitew had

I wouldn't call Chase a literally nothing character just because he didn't develop. The guy is clearly meant to be a parody of e-celebs like Jake Paul, who are terrible people without realizing it, but still get rewarded by the end of the day. He fits more with the likes of Ripper and Zee, as he was clearly more of a comic relief character who's humor comes from his obliviousness, but unlike the other 2 the writers clearly want you to hate Chase, and see him getting back together with Emma to be a terrible thing. They are obviously going to break up next season. This season was meant to play their trope full on straight, with the next season hopefully making both of them develop and grow out of their stereotypes. I myself found Chase to be a really funny character. I DO NOT like his actions, but it was funny how the show made him more and more terrible, even going out of their way to turn him into a sexist in the finale. The fact that by the end he was willing to let go of Emma and wish her a good life shows that the guy isn't completely irredeemable, just a really badly raised kid who needs someone to have a good talk with him. He can develop and hope the second season will do that. Lots of people think him and Emma will get the Bridgette and Geoff treatment, but I highly doubt they're just going to repeat an elimination from the past like that, especially when this season was filled with nothing but unique eliminations.
Exactly. People miss the intention of Chase, he has a lot of good moments like his first time reaction to the word "selfless". And the way he laughs at Priya and Millie + his dynamic with Zee and Ripper is genuinely amazing.
I forgot to mention the sudden "Chase is sexist" joke in the finale, but that was one of my favorite jokes of the season lmao -
to get to the bulk of your comment, I think the bulk of Chase's problem is not that the writers want you to hate him, as they also want you to hate Ripper and he's my favorite character in the cast, but that it feels like unlike any other character in this season, especially who get as far as Chase, he doesn't have any attributes besides "dumb influencer."
If they do try and do a curveball with his character in the next season, I think his appearance in this one will age better, but without it, he feels like one of the shallowest characters in this really developed cast.

Tbh I picked Priya as the season winner when she said she was trained her whole life, but I didn't want her to win. I would have liked it if she lost and her arc was that she didn't actually had to win the show to please her parents.

I think that Total Drama is one of the few shows that can really pull off the “gen z influencer” thing and not come off as entirely cringe or awkward about it. The cast has always been stereotypical and exaggerated since the beginning so those types of characters fit right in

the representation of the season was great honestly . the jokes zee makes about lying about his leg and a prosthetic being his favorite leg are the kinds of jokes a lot of disabled gen z actually make and the plotline of wayne trying to get raj to come out and be a good friend and ally was surprisingly wholesome when i watched it but it was very nice to have since a lot of the lgbtq+ community likes that kind of thing and it was nice to see a storyline with a closeted character that didn't go horribly wrong . i normally just find myself kinda annoyed with most of the guys in total drama but the guys this season were pretty great for the most part . even tho i don't like chase and ripper that's what they were going for . a lot of the gags and jokes this season got me and my siblings when we watched it and i feel like the total drama humor is very much still present but without any of the ignorance the earlier seasons had . this has to be one of if not my favorite season to date .

Emma was easily the worst part of the season for me. As soon as I heard about her, I realized exactly where it was going. I was the Bowie to not one, but THREE different Emma’s. Most of the time, unwillingly. I can feel the pain that Bowie has, of genuinely liking her as a human being, but despising the fact that all she ever talks about is her love life, and then how willing she is to get back into a toxic relationship. It’s fucking awful, and a train wreck to watch. I really hope this affects more Emma’s out there in the world, as they watch, and realize exactly who they are.

Ripper doing the Floss at the end gave me inspiration, a new light to shine on my views on the world. I finally felt the touch of a woman who isn't my mom, my grades are getting better, and I finally went outside and found these sharp small green things called "Blades of Grass" whatever that is.
my only nitpick with this season is that they made the jump from "nice julia" to "asshole julia" too quickly. her moment in the confessional where she's like "*(deep sigh)* Nope. Not today..." before tearing that dinosaur to shreads would've been more iconic if she had a slow build up of small moments where she struggles to stay nice instead of saying something bitchy so people will like her. I feel like suddenly making her a big bad after being a chill Instagram influencer in the background of the first episode is the only small downside to her character. overall great season
She actually does say a couple of things to Emma in particular that are pretty rude, saying she doesn't care about her looks and should take a shower. I've actually had her break character in my fic when an OC ends up in the glass tube in Episode 3 with her (because they had an extra contestant) and because they're close together and the cameras won't hear if they whisper, Julia threatens the OC and insults her, smiling the whole time so no one can tell what she's saying. The OC thinks Julia dislikes her specifically. She doesn't know yet that she hates everyone equally for different reasons and only discriminates levels if someone actually tries to annoy her.

I think my favorite character is Emma. I understand perfectly well why people hate her but imo she’s hilarious and I hope she gets some significant time without chase in s2
I thought it would have been cool if Damian lasted a bit longer with his resolve to win, but kept that fact within the confessionals, revealing he's playing the contestants. Outside of the confessionals he'd still try to make the others think he wanted to be voted off. Then you can have the same-style elimination where he does so well that the others give him his wish, and it's a better pay-off for the joke as he thought he'd go all the way.

I honestly don’t like how Priya won, it’s was obvious from the first second she’s introduced that she was going to win which made me hope she would get eliminated instead as a neat subversion
plus, it'd show that being trained doesn't always hold up- especially to genuinely smart social planning and sabotages CAN WORK like with bowie's plays. It'd be thematic as hell for priya to value her friendship over what her parents wanted for her- and bowie to get the win because he put EVERYTHING into that win.
And Bowie would not be a bad winner, either.

RR takes place only 8 years before the reboot so it makes sense that they wouldn't look so much older than they were in RR.
I also wanna say it’s great that you’re a Ripper fan even if I’m not. Despite me not being a fan of him personally, I’ll admit he did have a few funny moments.
My only nit pick with this season was that the character designs of the contestants were pretty lack luster, at least compared to second and third generation casts.
That was one of the reasons people disliked the third generation cast, the show is meant to represent teenagers of their generation and I believe this one captures teenagers of this time perfectly whilst including some exception characters (Axel, Scary Girl). It also manages to have characters such as Bowie, Wayne and Raj who you do see in real life except it’s more specific. I like the genericness as you can’t guess character types

Yeah I'm not particularly sold on the character designs overall. They're less stupid than Pahkitew's designs, but they don't feel as natural and yet iconic as Island's and RotI's.
Damian was the character I gravitated towards the most in the introduction. I was a little nervous that he was copying the whole “I made buttons to promote eliminating me” joke from Dave, but he quickly stops wanting to be eliminated, and even though he’s sent packing right afterwards as a joke, I’m really excited to see how he’ll do now that he actually wants to win.
Also part of me really thinks that they’ll go one of two ways with Caleb next season. Either he’s actually smart as he claims in his elimination, and he makes it incredibly far the second time due to thought-out strategies, or he does way less to give his team the impression that he’s not a huge threat only to be one of the first gone again as a gag where the team eliminates him for not contributing XD

I honestly think Priya deserved the win. She's trained her whole life for this and came pretty prepared. I love Bowie so I definitely would've been fine with either one winning, but I do think Priya worked for it more just because of her parents. I honestly really like what they did this season for the final two, with Priya being more qualified for the actual challenges and Bowie being more qualified for the social aspect of the show.
Eh, I feel like it definitely doesn't seem thematically. It's very obviously and overwhelmingly depicted that Priya's childhood was terrible, but her parents won in the end. It was all justified in the universe. Priya gets everything she wants and more, and it's all because of her parents. It's a kids show and the messaging isn't too bad but it just feels like a swing and miss, like the show is justifying child abuse

The one issue I had with this season is that Priya is the ''trained fighter'' yet at every challange where she got the spotlight she fucked up. Not once did she show off her skill... She just... failed. A lot. Also outside of challanges. She was just quite dumb for someone who should know all

I don’t have actual tv anymore but whenever it comes to streaming, I’ll be down to try it out. The original will FOREVER have a place in my heart (especially Duncan and Gwen) because it came out in summer 2007 which I was about to go into 8th grade when summer ended. It was a rare show that me and my two siblings ALL loved and were able to watch together and enjoy. I was 13 and as soon as I saw Duncan, had a huge crush on him. As we started to learn about him I loved his personality, hard exterior with a soft sweet side deep inside which isn’t unlike a lot of anime characters I enjoyed. Gwen was also another quick one I enjoyed, I loved how she was just herself. She wanted to win but (I haven’t watched it in forever so please correct me if I’m wrong) she didn’t really ever go against her personal morals. She was sweet but strong and had amazing style. All the original characters were really good and imo well developed in their own ways. In the original (according to Google anyway) Duncan was 17 and if you go by real life releases (supposedly World Tour debuted in 2010) I was a year younger than he was in the OG one. Sorry for this novel but, the original will always hold a special place in my heart but I’d be willing to give a chance to a new group of characters and hopefully like them as the new group just because the writers did so well in the original and most of the following seasons. Still wish Duncan won though.

I never expected it to come back after the final, but wow, after year, it's back ima watch it when it comes to the USA channels sad that the voices changed but with those reasons why I'm shocked and I understand but hopefully I can get use to this change in roles can't wait to see it soon. After years since the last episode.

I really enjoyed this season! It felt like it had the Total Drama spirit, but leaned even more into the reality tv competition aspect. The new cast was mostly great, and I was overall satisfied with the outcome even if I was rooting for Bowie more. I think they handled a lot of representation really well this season too which was very nice to see! I do hope we get more and different character interactions in the following season with this cast, as there is a lot of untapped potential to be had.

OK, I haven't finished the video yet, but I just wanna say about Chris now that I know his voice actor is Don's... They should've just put Don in this season instead of Chris. They also should've set it on a different island but I'm getting ahead of myself.
Chris had descended into madness basically. It would've been nice to just start with a (relatively) new host who was more sane and suave rather than resetting a previously established character. Plus, I quite like Don and how witty he was in RR. It would've been interesting to see Don interact with Chef.

Never thought I'd see a Ripper apologist. To me his jokes are to repetitive and one note to actually be funny. He would of worked a lot better as an early boot instead of keeping him around for the fart fetish episode.
Definitely a pretty good/great season and return to form for the show. The only episode that I would say didn’t work too well was episode 5(for obvious reasons😅), but it was still pretty dang good. I love how it felt more reality tv show like than past seasons.

I’m honestly not sure where to put this season, I definitely prefer it over action, pahkitew and all stars but i’m not to sure if I do prefer it over ridonclous. I definitely kind of like think Island and World Tour and Revenge surpass this season (not by a lot honestly) I’m still deciding whether rr or tdi23 but it’s looking like tdi23 might be my fave.

I loved the season and all the characters but a lot of their stories felt so self contained. Like I cannot remember a single relationship Priya and Millie had with anyone except each other. Sure they talk to others but who else are they friends with? I feel like it would’ve been fine if they weren’t 2 out of 3 of the finalists. In the original, Trent liked Gwen who was friends with DJ, Duncan, leshawna and Bridgette who were with Courtney, Harold and Geoff respectively. Gwen also had beef with heather who tried to get with Trent, bullied leshawna and Harold, pressured birdgette to join her alliance which involved 2 more characters. With the exception of Bowie who had relationships with Raj, Emma, and Julia, most of the characters seemed very self contained in their story. Even group scenes like the campers fangirling over Nichelle weren’t meant to build relationships between Nichelle and others, it was to set up her failing at the challenge later in the episode. But this season ate and I loved it

But it feels like, the more that animated media leans on real life and it's shitty patterns, the less I'm gonna like it personally? As much as humans and their motivations and behaviors can be timeless, seeing them in a way that mirrors our reality too closely is just.. idk less entertaining and more of a drag. I don't see this cast as "an array of quirky characters with traits that ground them to make them relatable to real life people, yet flawed to make them entertaining", i just see "real life people being put on the show and they suck cuz people just do." If I wanted to see that I'd just go back to school.

I watched it like a few hours ago and I really liked it! I thought it was pretty fun all the way through, albeit a bit rushed at times, but still great!
What I think would be interesting to see in the second season would actually be seeing a friendship between Damian and Scary Girl. It would be an odd dynamic, which only makes me more confused as to why I thought of it, but I think it could still be fun! Like they obviously won’t find themselves becoming friends at first, but maybe they end up finding a common interest in something (maybe like a scary movie franchise they both like) and they grow to have a pretty wholesome, albeit odd friendship.

I might be in the minority but i actually liked Don, i was taken back first that there was another host but i find him very likeable so i got used to the new voice quickly
Along with Damien, Emma was the most grounded character but they made her dirty. in the next season I hope Chase gets mature and accepts reject for good, and Emma gets back to being friends with Bowie among others.
I’m gonna predict the next season elimination order and come back to see if I’m right

One of chase or Emma need to go early. We can not spend another season with their romance and hatred being so prominent. Emma has more potential as a stand alone than chase so I think chase should go early
Scary girl is very gimmicky there’s not an insane a lot to do with her so I think she’ll be fine soon
Ripper was there for a bit too long. Nobody on the cast likes him so he’ll make a mistake or two and get kicked out
The Canadians are too close together in terms of who they are, so I think one goes early and the other gets more development. Raj and Bowie will probably develop further so that leads to Wayne getting voted
I do not think mk will the main villain. I think she’ll be out early again
I think Julia and Bowie will be on the same team and fight for control, one will be kicked out but the other will go soon after
Axel could definitely make the merge but I do not see her going too long
Caleb will probably be the secondary antagonist. Being a nice girl didn’t work well for him so he’s more of a jerk and goes further because of it
I think priya will make it far again but she just won so it doesn’t make sense for her to win again
I think Zee gets the under dog run but falls just short of winning
Michelle and Damien make sense as the finalist for me.

my only problem in this season is everyone has a neutral personality,even the chaotic ones are too neltral,and the problem of the every atual show,very rushed, but still a really good show i wish the next season could be better

Wayne & Raj seem to be heavily based on characters from Letterkenny, who are basically the same.

I remember when the first total drama island came out.
I was watching Canada's on RUclips and even became friends with the uploader.
He was so determined to make sure we all were at least able to finish it as a whole.
He had to make 2 channels, 1 on another website I forgot the name.
The part where Heather was getting told off I felt special watching it before they censored it in the US.
Even the word for balls were censored.
The puke was also ahead of any show and I feel old since it came out my freshman year.
Props to the people that were able to watch the new seasons.

I do get this whole hate Ripper thing and with good reason especially his rude behaviour I don’t really hate him because to me picking characters I like feels similar to picking a good friend by using my instincts and to me Ripper is more like a likeable jerk like Wario and Homer Simpson who just likes to rub their egos on others plus I would like to see his rivalry with Axel to go longer next season it makes good comedy.
Thank you for stating the obvious about Lauren. She's boring, unbearable and forced. She's the problem Pahkitew had with their villains: evil for the sake of being evil (in this case, mad).
I also started liking Emma but I hated that she got back with Chase specially because IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE. She just assumes he's doing things for her (either saying sorry or throwing the challenge for her to win) when in reality he wasn't. That is bullshit. Chase is just kinda there I think, as you said, no purpose for him.
I dislike Ripper though, I'm sorry lol And I LOVE Priya. She's my favorite character, she's a real try-hard and that doesn't make her a bland character like Zoey or Sky. In the end, she just wants to win so she can get free of her parents and that's awesome. I love Millie too, specially her character development.
(spoiler) I think the writers felt the same way about Lauren too since she seems to be the first boot in the next season.
It was pretty obvious for most of the season that Millie would float to 3rd place, and Bowie's strategies would carry him to the finale for him to only lose to Priya, validating all her training enforced by her parents. Still fun to watch, but completely expected. I want to see Bowie's ending when it releases, not only would it be a great subversion for the strategist to win and the essentially-protagonist to lose, Bowie is also a very easy strategist to root for, he's a very entertaining character, and unlike previous seasons he's rarely painted as a villain for his strategies, and he also handles his romance more intelligently than any other Total Drama character by putting it aside until after the competition and explaining this well to Raj

Please don’t tell me the original voice actor Christian Potenza became like the character he played. I’m referring to how Chris became insane over the course of the original six total drama seasons. Keep in mind I don’t know much about this, but judging from what I read from an article, ☹️ not good man.
They should not have any fart jokes. They should remove all of the fart jokes they included and all of the times the characters farted.

Also yeah the Chase and Emma stuff was my same thoughts. But I didnt care for them from the start, it was from Emma friendship with Bowie I found wholesome cus its pretty clear Bowie wants the best for her but he knows intervening wouldnt work. But damn the ending of her coming back to chase was so annoying, I get that was the joke cus it seemed like Emma was always willing to forgive Chase for the most braindead of excuses but I couldnt handle how annoyed I felt.
And my thoughts for Scary Girl are the same. Good design, boring character, I was waiting for her to break her crazy persona but nope, she is just nuts
Scary Girl is peak Pahkitew haha. Yeah it would have been awesome if she got to slowly come out of her persona and bond with Priya/Damien over why she is the way she is, but alas this season is filled with missed opportunities.
