Unfortunate incident that this great man soldier was accidentally shot by his own side..if not the war could have turn on their favour... I believe the south had the greatest generals during the war...right from the beginning of the war they won almost every battle.. Losing stonewall jackson was the downfall of Lee's hope.. These two great man was unmatched.
Actually, the Confederates lost every major battle in the west that they fought until Chickamauga, which took place two months after Gettysburg and over two years into the war. This is usually glossed over by focusing on Confederate victories in the east. Unfortunately for the Confederacy, their startling victories in the east were all indecisive in nature- while their defeats in the west cost them control of the Mississippi river and cleaved the Confederacy in two.
After studying his wound in great detail. I think the falls from the liter. He was dropped twice both on his wounded arm, did more damage than the bullets. The surgeons should have took these into account before proceeding with the amputation. It is very likely The General didn't have pneumonia but a lung embolism bought on by the serve falls and surgey and the attending doctors quickly removed his shattered arm. Im sure none of the soldiers who carried Jackson off the field reported they dropped him twice!
Surgeon Hunter McGuire was a confidant and friend of Jackson. And spent the Civil War by Jacksons' side. Until Jackson died. Thomas Johnathan Jackson died of pneumonia..... If they would have just went to the cellar and retrieved a jar of molded canned peaches and feed the mold to Jackson.. they could have saved him. AND cauterize, Packed his severed stump, of what was left of his left arm, in oats and ground white oak bark: It would have helped his weeping blood flow, of the amputated arm, to cease. But if it was an embolism that killed Jackson... They could have gave him a green wild garlic. And Echinacea and golden seal to stabilize his immune system. Lol. Wish I had been there.
Thank you for pretty much confirming that the injury from the fall, even if it wasn't apparent on the surface, was the cause of Gen. Jackson's pneumonia and subsequent death. I assume that attempting to drain the affected lung (or pleural cavity) wasn't possible at the time? Just think, a simple antibiotic would've saved him and thousands of other injured soldiers.
Gen. Jackson was too successful AGAINST the U.S.A. -- it was fortuitous that he died before GETTYSBURG . Such wicked forces were at 🔱 work in deceiving our Charleston, S.C. neighbors....to try and destroy Our Honorable 🇺🇸 DEMOCRACY !

We wonder if the same Confederates who shot Stonewall Jackson also dropped him? Twice!. The rebels who shot Stonewall should have been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor and Marksmanship badges. Who were those men? What Confederate unit did they serve with? We want to thank them for their service. Why don't we hear Southern Civil War historians discussing these men? Are the rifles they used to shoot Stonewall Jackson displayed in some confederate museum? Are the bullets Dr. McGuire dug out of Jacksons body on display in some confederate museum?

Thank you Major John Berry for giving your Confederate 18th North Carolina Regiment the order to fire on Stonewall Jackson and his recon group. Thank you for your service sir.
I thoroughly enjoyed this talk.

When he references the “war of the rebellion”, I assume he’s referring to the war of northern aggression.

John Wilkes Booths bullet that pierced the head of Lincoln is on display at the National Museum for Health and Medicine. Check it out.

@@CatherineLee3000 Oops.
So you're advocating that the Congressional Medal of Honor should have been awarded to Confederate soldiers? That's crazy.
Hhhh. They removed his statue in Richmond today. Whatever
Yep I saw it in feberaury before it came down. My great great grandmother is his Second cousin. His great grandfather is my 5th great grandfather.
The action by doing so exemplifies monumental ignorance.
Bull

Thank you John Wilkes Booth for putting a bullet in the head of Lincoln. The tyrant is dead.
You both are ridiculous. Go back to school.
