Much as I love LOTR, Shadow of Mordor is infinitely better at bringing out the malice of Sauron and the power of the One Ring. This theme says it all, and quite literally.
i agree but even though sauron was a eye where his physical eye was the only thing he could see out of but in this game it looked like they made him seem like he was a spirit stalking you
@@wooter558 In the books Sauron has a form and can regenerate it just like Gandalf since he's a maiar, he only lost his finger where the ring was cut off. Those eye towers were more like his observatory towers.
LOTR movies were vague however, and you can only see Sauron's physical form in a few glimpses, or deleted scenes like Aragorn calling Sauron through the Palantir. The hobbit movies showed Sauron trying to manifest himself at one point before Gandalf until Galadriel banished him.
@@wooter558 He was a spirit in the Hobbit, Shadow of Mordor, and part of Shadow of War until he gets a physical form. Then he merges with Celebrimbor and hence becomes the Flaming Eye, at least in the games and movies. To gain his full strength and power he needs the One Ring.
@@iwasanMBTInerd except the unfication with celebrimor is not canon. He was one of the noldorians who was not that power hungry and similar to his grandfather, so his fate is even more tragic. Though I think in the games he was made into a very interesting and epiccharacter so to speak. :D
@@Narya57 yeah but i feel like IF there was any way this merging and the Rebellion in Mordor could be canon it would enhance Celebrimbor extremly. Before the Games he was just a side note really but with the games he becomes an Interesting Character.

Man I love this game. This beginning theme is incredibly captivating, and while I feel like the story left the tone of this theme behind, I greatly enjoyed the game overall. The cellos are magnificent!

One thing I wish we had more was the perspective of the Orcs in the films, listening to Andy Serkis narrate Uruk Hai in the two towers really highlights that missed potential
Does anyone else prefers the overall tone and feel of this game compared to shadow of war? In this game it felt more like you’re a ghostly entity that orcs don’t know whether you actually exist or not until several of their friends are already dead.
I understand that. But Mordor never gives you the feeling when you seige a fort.

1st half of this sounds like it could be used as an overture to an abandoned prison from the 1800s and the 2nd half sounds like something id hear from Avatar The Movie. However, this is an excellent soundtrack for this game. I had to download it to my collection of EPIC OSTs

Mark Williams Excuse me? Ever heard of the Silmarillion? That's hardly 'loose'. And somehow they did fuck it up a bunch of things. Dates, names, treating "ranger" like some sort of day-job Aragorn had, breaking the tonal law that no man(but Beren, obv) could arise from the dead, adding a whole bunch of things like Caragor and whatnot that could have been played by already-existing beasts(wargs anyone), and so on.
It's by far not the worst adaptation, but it's not exactly the best..

Basically, The "The Force Unleashed" of LOTR. While it does butcher the Lore to fit it's own story, it's still pretty goddamn fun.

@@saintchristiano580 Shelob Being a Shapeshifter, Ologs are intelligent when they're supposed to be like Graugs, Celebrimbor helping perfect then steal the One Ring, Isildur and Helm Hammerhand became a Nazgûl, Minas Ithil was conquered thousands of years before the events of the Books but was conquered around 60 years prior to LOTR... These are most of the Major Examples.
@@thewhompingwampa2671 I mean, that's SoW, not SoM. I don't see anything that butchers the lore in SoM other than the uruks being made somehow 60 years before LOTR, even if they were made in a movie scene.
@@thewarlock8487 Fair enough on that end. But just in general, the lore became really messy once SOW came into the mix.
This song is brilliant, I love the grim feeling to it. It is a real shame the rest of Shadow of Mordor's OST came off as lackluster.

He had to be cardboard. It was the only way to fit the character into a story that was otherwise already developed by Tolkien. The whole game is just an excuse to behead Uruks on a mass scale. Nothing wrong with that at all... :D
