The ladies are local Brighton performers, so he probably knew them and just shared his idea and asked them. The bass player us Kai Lacey whi is in charge of his BTS videos and his Patreon. This was his first appearance as a musician in Ren's videos and he did just great. He is a musician obviously.

The two ladies are Sylvia and Scarlet (the taller one closer to Ren), they are both Brighton based and I believe have been friends for years. 😊

For incredible back story on Ren, The Zack Sang Show, Ren interview, is one of the best interviews I have seen, tho there are several. Ren opens up so much. It lets you know so much. Also there is a video on RUclips, when Ren was young, I searched RUclips, and found it with search title, Ren asking for help, In a black shirt on his bed. From those two RUclips vids you get part of his struggles. God protect Ren Gill.
Most reactors miss the rifes that Ren plays through the back on 74 part good that you picked it up. Ren has done Englishman in New York with The Big Push, check it out. I love it.

Message in a Bottle (guitar riff) added to the song Back on 74. Backing singers sang "Let it go" at the end, from Back On 74 this was blended into Message in a Bottle. Both songs connected with an added original rap bridge, (written by Ren). 🤩.

Ahhh REN, Nathan becoming a Renegade 😂 Lad will not disappoint, I’ve never been a rap fan but he’s turned me!! Yes Ryan, he used the MITB riff earlier. Can’t wait for you to do some of his busking with The Big Push in Brighton. Also looking forward to you listening to his interviews. He has a very cheeky side you will relate to.

He recorded this whilst on a visit home to Brighton over Christmas, from treatment in Calgary. Took two weeks to write, rehearse and record. His good friend Samuel Perry-Falvey is the video photographer, who does a lot of RENs work. You will see him driving the car in which they recorded ‘Power.’ Actually that would be a good one to do next, it tells a story of his upbringing. Really enjoying this journey with you two lads!!!

Great reaction guys. I’m glad you enjoy Ren music. I think, he lefts some hints in the music video, “Fred Again Mashup”, the song was released before this one. In that song he used some, “Message In A Bottle” riffs as well. The Police band & Sting were big influences on Ren. He has sang, “Walking On The Moon” & “ Englishman In New York” in his busking performances.
In the Fred Again Mashup he also references Jungle…who did Back on 74
Ren is an ultimate artist and as such embeds a deeper message in his music. Fifty years have passed (1974-2024) and we need to 'let it go', meaning the times of freedom and liberty, hence the SOS to the world.
Love it when you think you know what you are going to get with Ren and he surprises you with something different....again and again. 😂❤❤❤ Great job guys!
THAt first part is from Jungle
This was a live one take performed at Bar Valentino in Brighton 29/12//23. This project from conception to completion was 10 days. He rehearsed with backup singers on only 2 occasions.
REN is a generational phenomenon, I have never witnessed anyone more musically gifted than he is. He is just a genius and seeks perfection in all his endeavors. Back on 74 is by a British group called Jungle. He changed the whole arrangement and structure of the original song. The rapping section was created by him with the other lyrics being from the original song. He has this uncanny ability to take any song or songs and blend them together seamlessly truly making them his own. As you mentioned in your reaction he played the rift from Message in a Bottle during the second verse of Back on 74 and then during the ending of Message in a bottle the back up singers were singing “let it go” which is from Back on 74. His vocal range and agility combined with his ability to make you “feel something” and “think or imagine something” whenever he performs is hard to explain but it has happened for me every time I watch him perform even when I have heard the songs before. He draws you in and takes you with him…he has the IT Factor…he is really a humble, witty Welsh boi with a big heart and a great mind.
Like you mentioned he is at his core a storyteller and he aspires to be a director. He directs all of his videotaped performances and his cinematographers are very in sync with him. He just one best director for Money Game 3 at the European Independent film awards last week along with Samuel Perry Falvey. The entire Money Game trilogy is amazing and I feel sure you will be reacting to it. I would also recommend highly Penitence, Chalk Outlines and Suicide. Just because they highlight his versatility, lyrical talent, vocal talent and that raw emotional side without the slightest bit of cringe. Then you must checkout his live performances with his former band The Big Push. There are at least 3 versions of them doing I Shot the Sheriff….the one wear he is in red suspenders is part of a mashup that is a must see but I also like the much shorter version that is found on his utube video page. He is wearing a plaid coat and this is the last busking performance given by the Big Push before REN left Brighton to come to Calgary Canada for specialized treatments for the residual symptoms he still experiences from having had misdiagnosed Lymes disease for 8 years. I recommend it just to see how he never plays songs the same way and I love his guitar playing and amazing vocals. I could go on and on about this dude cause he is truly amazing. NEW SUB for the REN journey…..buckle up cause it’s one hell of a ride!!#proudRENegade✌🏽

The Money Game 3 part is amazing, with part three being incredible. Chalk Outlines, I Forgot How To Be Me, Power, Sick Boy, and The suicide songs about his best bud, being the songs Freckeled Angel, Suicide, and For Joe. He connects to so may people, thru singing about depression, and suicide, which is such a taboo thing on RUclips. His pain, reaches to many people right at their core. Thank you again for jumping on the Ren train. Love you guys.

Loved the reaction guys! Just another of the many facets of the diamond that is Ren. You're right. You never know what to expect for good reason. Seven Sins (Official Lyric Video) is from his latest hip hop album. The lyricism, true story and production are insane. A track for fans of music as a whole.

Ren grabs someone's track and takes it to a whole new level. His versatility is off the freaking scale, something that will become clearer as you progress, there is one of the 200 plus tracks of his I would only give a 9/10 ! My favourite is Penintece with Molly McKinna joining him, very special....not forgetting Chinchilla but she is now a star in her own way and simply stunning, Great reaction as well,

Loving your reactions guys and have subbed for more. Ren is incredibly versatile as an artist bc he just loves music in general and so he's just happy doing it all.
It's also wonderful seeing Ren enjoying himself with music right now as his treatments seem to finally have him in a place where he is looking more healthy and seems better in himself. As you've probably read, Ren has not has it easy in life and a lot of this is reflected in his music. Seven Sins, is a great example of a powerful song for you to do (lyric video is the best option) as well as Chalk Outlines which he does with Chinchilla (another British friend with amazing vocals) for which I strongly suggest doing the live version (not the studio one).
Murderer and Animal Flow are bragalicious (do the official videos first then lives as they're both great but different) and if you want to hear him with his band The Big Push watch any of the 3 where Ren is wearing red suspenders.
There are several interviews out there but one of the most complete is the Zach one. To gauge more of Ren's character watch his 'thanks for a million subscribers' speech.
Needless tp say you have to do the Money Games trilogy at some point too 😅 The list is endless! They're all so damn good! 😅
I've now listened to over 200 songs involving this man from solo stuff, collaborations, and with his bands and I haven't heard a dud yet. I can't day that about any of my favorite artists from t over 50 years of listening to a lot of music of virtually every era and style.
The women in the video are friends of Ren's from Brighton. They were fabulous!

Great reaction 👍 There’s a Ren song to showcase each of his multiple talents: rapping - The Hunger, Illest of Our Time; live acoustic versions of Murderer and Genesis which add a whole other level of musicality; superb duets with Sam Tomkins (Blind Eyed) and Chinchilla (Chalk Outlines, How to Be Me), Reggae vibes with The Big Push (I Shot the Sheriff, Road to Zion, Hip Hop) Swan Song if you want to hear the same group performing like a medieval boy band. This was another brilliant ReNtake. Just Ren doing Ren things. Crazy runs and harmonies, filthy bars to remind us that he is also still a cheeky boi, and that voice that’s perfect for Sting/The Police songs. Ren has music in his soul and pours so much soul into everything he does. We’re just lucky to witness it 🐰🕳️

Ren did this one for 10 days from the first inspiration to filming it... Last xmas when he was back home in Brighton.
So yeah... just threw it all together... because he felt moved by the Jungle song "back on 74"...
They were all as cool as hell but the guy in the sun glasses and leather jacket is so laid back he should be playing the sax.
The video was filmed in a local pub in Brighton. The owner gave them a couple of hours before opening to film it. It was another live one take :). Ren has a couple of retakes, but for me the Fred Again Mash Up is his best work. Once you know what Ren has gone through with his misdiagnosis the last two minutes of the Fred Again Mashup will put a tear in your eye. Go Canucks Go

If you want to see his vocal prowess you should check out his performances with his busking band The Big Push, especially War Pigs or I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop (both from the same set where he’s wearing the red suspenders).

This one was a super interesting choice to happen upon early in your Ren journey; the vocals, the vibe is so immaculate, and now this will be something you carry forward with you in terms of how you see Ren as you encounter each song.

My suggestion is Chalk Outlines LIVE (some of the best vocals you'll ever hear, DO NOT be dissuaded from listening to it due to it being a collab with another artist, YOU HAVE TO HEAR HER) or Sick Boi (a banger of a hip hop song) or Heretic (emo Ren, vocals, amazing) or Diazepam (bluesy rock Ren, my 2nd favourite vocal track in his catalogue after Chalk Outlines, absolutely beautiful guitar, too; his guitar's like a duet to his voice in that one)...
... All 4 of those are diving back into the emotionally heavy autobiographical stuff (tho Heretic and Diazepam usually come off a *little* lighter than Chalk Outlines and Sick Boi).
He is awesome and you have so so much more to go 😂

You made one flaw... you're trying to find a genre for Ren. That'll just make the Renegades throw completely different stuff at you because they want you to see how much more he is. Storyteller isn't bad. Most eventually just settle on Artist because even storyteller isn't quite enough. I agree with comment below... Chalk Outline (live) with Chinchilla would be good.
