They can redeem themselves. A good guy isn’t always going to stay a good guy for long. Like think about it... you can do something so fucked up, but moments later, you’ll realize that it’s wrong and change for the better good. So in conclusion, it’s not out of character, it’s a change in feeling and mindset. Just bc the “bad” character is bad, doesn’t mean they might stay bad forever. The character is developing, and this scene also portrays a moral. Movies/shows also are connected with real life situations too.

Princess Ari losing her memory was the best thing that could have happened to her. She forgot the memory of the nanny being her mother and will now be able to live a good life with oh sunny without questioning who her real mother is. Although the nanny was a really bad person she really did love her daughter but the greed and uncertain future lead her to become a monster towards her daughter. In the beginning she knew she would never be able to become a part of princess Ari’s life, which is why she stayed as her daughters nanny and tried to do everything in her power to make princess ari the reigning empress. In the nannies mindset having princess ari as a reigning empress would give her the ability to live by her side as her mother and not nanny had things gone her way. However the greed was too powerful and it ended up destroying the mother daughter relationship. In comparison to the execution leaving her daughter behind and having her daughter not remember her was the ultimate punishment for all the crimes the nanny created. Because everything she did was for her daughter despite her greed getting in the way.In the end there’s a really touching scene where the nanny appears in front of princess ari to check up on her. In this scene I don’t think princess ari recognizes her as her mother but as her nanny. Because in the end the nanny was the one who took care of her when no one in the palace payed attention to her. She was there to protect her from the emperor’s sister’s tantrums and was the one who essentially raised her to be who she is.

And not trying to be rude but honestly, I think the nanny did get what she deserves, because she's basically being abusive and trying to be manipulative. And she was trying to be a good mother, which I respect, but her greed took the best out of her. And she could've stayed as a mother than waste her time trying to have power, but nooooo, she had to be power hungry, along with the grandmother. Now she realizes her daughter is the only thing she really wants. 😢😢 Good moral stories. This ending is so good, she doesn't want Ari to remember her out of love. Plus, the scene where her ghost asking whether Ari is now happy is so heartwarming.

This is one of the best k-dramas I've ever watched. The complexity of each characters had me in awe. And the actors were so immersed in their roles that nothing felt forced. Really well done!
Seo Kanghee is lucky she redeemed herself in the end. After all, she knew she was wrong. And she is still a mother, whose greatest sacrifice is to remove herself completely from her child's memories. She loved Ari as much as she loved herself, she was just so into the notion of becoming powerful so that she and her child will be at the top. This woman did all the wrong things, including using her child, and her apology doesn't need to be verbal. In fact, she doesn't have to apologize. All she has to do is to be a mother, and to decide what is the best for her dear child. And that is what she did.
Because there isn't such thing as a good or bad, right or wrong in this world. Like the reply two before me, if there is a righteousness there is evilness- if there is evilness there will be righteousness. There must always be a balance. Yin, Yang.
The last two episodes got me crying ocean especially this scene and when the emperor died. The frustration I had about this drama will probably never fade away, the greed that took over one humanity as a person and as a mother to a child, it was so heartbreaking. I can't stop feeling sorry towards the emperor and Ari.
One thing I like about this drama is that every bad person has their own story (except the empress dowager). Doesn't make them less criminal, but the ending is perfect for each of them.

Death penalty takes a while to get carried out. It’s not something that happens in a matter of weeks or even months. Also, her lawyers didn’t take her off death row, she’s just waiting for her execution and Kang Hee probably is too, this just happened to be the last scene they showed of her. In the courtyard see where you can see the Empress Dowager with the rest of the inmates you can see she has a red tag in her jumpsuit, that red tag where her number is means that she’s on death row.

It's more than NICE... This drama possessed for about 5-8 or more genre. That's why it shows COMPLEXITY & DUALITY. It's great, from plot to actors.
