Looks good. If I wanted a 1:1 remake of Yakuza I'd play the games since they're already pretty cinematic. I only want them to keep the found family aspects of the story, specially with Haruka, since it's the core of everything Kiryu related.
Yakuza and Metal Gear Solid IMO are two of the hardest franchises to be adapted to live action because of the tone shift. I hope they pull this off but I fear they might sacrifice too much of the quirkyness and it ends up being too "dark" and serious without the comedy and melodrama.

Kojima's work (just as Yakuza) is as Japanese as it gets. The problem when you reach a worldwide audience is that they will find it weird and disjointed as hell.

The only character i like is Majima, which is sad because he barely had any screen time.

That there is no "Jingi" (仁義) or "Ninkyou" (任侠) in this drama. Many Japanese game fans have already seen the trailer and are disappointed. The only people who are enthusiastic about this drama are the actors' fans and RGG (Ryu ga Gotoku) Studio's president, Yokoyama.

Found out that show was out, decided to watch the trailer. Kiryu is supposed to be stoic. He doesn't care about titles or being flashy. Its the whole charm behind the persona. In this trailer Kiryu shows more emotion than he's done the last 2 decades of games. And if they missed the mark on the literal main character then its obvious they are doing the "we writers know better" thing. Which means im gonna avoid it like the plague.

Just glancing at it, with the colors and the style-felt like a Crazy Rich Asians 2 or a comedy lol. But thankfully the trailer seems okay. Change the thumbnail maybe? I just recently finished Like a dragon: infinite wealth. One of the things I love about the game is the random insane humor so I hope we get some of that in the show.
If an episode is 1 hour long and there is no filler in it, i think it is on point. Many series waste time for exposition because they think every viewer has an extra chromosome. If is follows the "Show, don't tell" idea, then i think 6 episodes are fine. It also means the plot will move forward constantly, so don't expect downtime.

I've only played Like a Dragon, legit playing it now and I wasn't expecting it to be as "outrageous" as it is. I mainly decided to play it because it was turn based and I'm more akin to turn based combat. Is it actually good? That's most important. As long time fans of the series I would trust y'all's opinion over than mine irregardless I do plan on watching it once I get off work. I was just hopping for the experience Ioved from Like a Dragon since that's what it's titled. I'm ready for a serious crime drama if that's what the entire series is, I just want it to be good because the last few years of adaptations has disappointed me
The movie has this look like it's almost a 90s Japanese movie but it's almost like it doesn't want to commit. I saw go for it. Some of the best Japanese crime movies were made in the 90s.
Looks great but why is Kiryuu so small. He is not the biggest but Kiryuu is always depicted as a decently large sized man. Its part of his aura and what personally made me feel like he could take on the world in a fist fight

This is a TV series, focusing on the narrative. It will surely have comic relief, but it won't be the main focus, and that's fine. You can just play the games if you want them to dedicate 3 episodes to Pocket Car Racing.

The movie has this look like it's almost a 90s Japanese movie but it's almost like it doesn't want to commit. I saw go for it. Some of the best Japanese crime movies were made in the 90s.

Looks great but why is Kiryuu so small. He is not the biggest but Kiryuu is always depicted as a decently large sized man. Its part of his aura and what personally made me feel like he could take on the world in a fist fight
seeing how majima acts makes or breaks this for me

If you ever seen The Sopranos then you would know it's just the Simpsons until the last 2 seasons where it becomes a crime drama
@@dklordg Surely, but we only consider the "funnies" because of the gameplay and the ludonarrative disonance we accept because it's a game and it's completely optional (as in, why managing a cabaret would have anything to do with the story?). This is a TV series, focusing on the narrative. It will surely have comic relief, but it won't be the main focus, and that's fine. You can just play the games if you want them to dedicate 3 episodes to Pocket Car Racing.
Watched three episodes and this series is lackluster. It lacks good action, music, funny/absurd situations, gangster activities, camera work, plot, acting, writing... It's a "nothing" series.
If this doesn't include kazuma singing baka mitai i'ma rate it 1
