Lilah Krugman I totally agree with you. Logan is painted as an inconsiderate playboy/womanizer but that's Jess not Logan. I could go on forever on why Jess was an awful boyfriend and that he doesn't have special insight into her soul or head nor does he know her better than anyone but I think what the biggest reason why Rory belongs with Logan is because that what she wants due to the fact that she loves him under any circumstances.
Lilah Krugman AGREE so much. like people say that jess eventually stopped but that doesn't matter she had to say stop like 3 times before he did. Rory/Jess' first time was so unromantic (think about it at some guy's parents' bedroom & it was forced). Rory & Logan's first time felt right & he was very considerate. Another thing I noticed was when Rory was with Dean she had her eye on Jess, when she was with Jess she'd ramble on about Dean (the Swan episode, the winter carnival etc) but when she was with Logan she rarely brought up neither of them. I liked Logan when the show was on but the more I watch these clips the more I wish they would have ended up together.
Consider, that Jesse was in a really bad place then. He was sad, he felt guilty, and wanted to feel wanted. Logan was climbing in for sex with a girl he liked, and wanted to impress. Yeah, Jesse was pretty agressive that time, but so did Logan, when he was in a crisis.
I don't understand why people don't like Logan? In other words, in this episode in particular he is a true gentleman despite the fact that he was used to any woman falling at his feet, however they want Jess who practically wanted to have relations with Rory by force, apart from all his other attitudes of course. Logan was a womanizer but when he got engaged to rory he was serious.
I love Logan too! (that smile omg) but I think people like jess because the bad boy archetype is always gonna be irresistible lol, and don't like logan because of his money. Plus Jess had very good character development.

How anyone can watch this and still say Logan was an asshole to Rory while also saying that Jess wasn't is simply not being honest and there's no talking to them since they've got selective memories.
I am not defining either Logan or Jess by a single moment. There are several moments where Jess was an asshole to Rory. This is just one of my favorite Logan and Rory scenes so I watch it alot.
Rory's character is IMO badly viewed by the fans. In most fans' view Rory can never have doubts, change her mind, or make mistakes. When she does it's always someone else's fault. Who made her go to NYC to see Jess on a day when a very important event was going to happen for her mother? Did Jess make her do that? No but according to your view since Jess did not send her straight back home that day it is his fault Rory missed the graduation. No, it wasn't Jess' fault. It was Rory's. Rory Gilmore is not a perfect person and no one else should have to take the blame for Rory's bad decisions. Logan did not make her quit Yale anymore than Jess made her miss her Mom's graduation. Jess wasn't the only person that thought or told Rory she was making a mistake but she had to make them herself because it's her life. Also need to point out that while nobody is blame for Rory's wrongs, they are also not to applaud for her triumphs. Jess gave her food for thought but Rory was the one that had to actually put the thoughts into actions. Also, saying that Logan only cared about parties and whining is like saying that Jess was only about pranks (chalk outline and police tape in front of the market) and sarcasm.
Logan was Rorys Christopher. The creator Amy Sherman Paladino said that he represents him similarly to Jess representing Luke. ( lor/luke - common interests & jess/Rory). But unlike Lorelai Rory doesnt hate her grandparents world. So Logan Rory could be endgame.
Zoe Wright I honestly don't see any real parallels between Logan and Christopher. There's a fan theory that Logan is actually Rory's Richard, and that makes more sense to me. It's not a direct parallel, but I think it's a closer fit (especially with the whole fiancee thing). Besides, I always thought the idea of a child's life exactly mirroring their parent's life in film and lit was a bit....hacky.
Camille Pendragon exactly! There were no Parallels b/w Logan and Christopher except for the rich parents he hated. Logan encourages Rory to follow her dreams, and he also brought out her wild side a little bit which she also needed, by encouraging her to have fun and be adventurous. I’m still mad at Palladino for dragging Logan’s character development through the mud in revival. Season 7 he had a huge breakthrough leaving his father’s company and starting on his own. On top of that he got in a fight with Luke. He was honestly an asshole & never changed. totally agree, i’ve been saying this for ages its full circle yes but rory’s not lorelai! but i also think logan represented luke and jess chris. lorelai was the one for chris but she didn’t love what he represented (rich life etc) so he wasnt the one for her. in the same way i think rory’s the one for jess but while she loves him too she doesn’t belong in his world so picks logan. chris and jess are best when they’re friends to lorelai and rory. logan and luke are the ones for them not because they’re the perfect guys but bc they represent what each woman want from life.

I suspect that Logans character was built up based on Tristan. Seems like authors wanted to make her eventually fall in love with a rich bad guy that would suit her family's fancy lifestyle, but since the actor who played Tristan left the show, they had to change the story. Nevermind , I just can't get over the fact that he could've been perfect boyfriend.

So when I was younger, I was totally Team Jess all the way, but now growing older and seeing the older episodes and the "A Year in the Life", I've been Team Logan. Yes, he was a douche as a kid, but aren't we all? Rory and Logan...are in my opinion a better, more mature version of Christopher and Lorelei. Buuuuut, with that said, Jess and Rory are better off as friends, Jess isn't Rory's "Luke". I think Logan and Rory should have ended up together, not Logan and Odette.
The frustrating thing is Logan would absolutely leave Odette if Rory would commit to him. Odette is clearly the family obligation fiancée. She and Logan deserve better.

I think you are correct in that when girls watch this show and they are in high school even early 20's they like Jess, they like the idea of a bad boy turned good. But bad boys aren't always a good catch. I think as girls mature they grow to realize that Logan and Rory are the more adult couple, long standing, true soul mates. When you're young you may not see this. Logan and Rory grew into that perfect couple. They were together for 3 years, ups ,downs but always found their way back to each other, were always there for each other.
I liked dean cuz he was sweet and thoughtful (Sometimes he could get wayy too dramatic tho) At first when Jess came he pissed me off cuz I thought he was pulling Rory and dean apart but I later realised they were already falling apart I liked Jess cuz he helped Rory through some tough times and although he was never there at the right time for their relationship to work, he was there when she needed the emotional support (Sometimes he could be a jerk though) At first when Logan came he pissed me off cuz I was still hung up on Jess but I later realised he was so supportive and understanding and just good for Rory plus he asked before doing anything with her which Jess and Dean didn’t do (ik nothing ever happened with Jess and Rory but it almost did and he never asked and didn’t listen to her saying wait - I also know that he was having troubles at that point and was a bit out of his mind but that still doesn’t excuse it) (Sometimes he [logan] could be a bit snobby tho) In a year in the life I loved Logan and he seemed good for Rory, HOWEVER he and Rory both pissed me off as they should’ve left it until Logan Broke up with his fiancée and FOR GODS SAKE HOW DID RORY KEEP FORGETTING TO BREAKUP WITH PETE Overall, I get pissed off easily but just because I get so emotional attached to the characters, but I do love that the shows writers didn’t care who they annoyed as a lot of the decisions that Rory and the men in her life made would be choices people would make in real life as no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes, which I love and think adds such great authenticity to the show itself and the characters and their development Edit: lol sry for that huge ass rant

I probably watched this series the first 3 times with subtitles in Spanish , so hard subtitled like " dificil" was like "ohh , okay it would be difficult for him to leave". But had they subtitled hard like "duro" ohh man I would not had to wait 10 years to catch that.
I think Marty was symbolic of how Rory was pushing away her old morals and small town girl ways and entering the ‘rich’ and privileged world that she now was becoming a part of. This was seen through her being intrigued by Logan and living with her grandparents. Her rejection of Marty was a rejection of a part of herself, they’re similar in a lot of regards but Rory wanted to be someone else or maybe that’s who she was all along. He served to let us see which path Rory was deciding to go on. I appreciate him as a character but not everybody deserves or needs a story arc
The way he smooths her the way he needs her and holds himself back the way he takes her permission if he can stay or not a gentleman to the core i believe logan has many girlfriends but never have slept with them

Lilah Krugman I totally agree with you. Logan is painted as an inconsiderate playboy/womanizer but that's Jess not Logan. I could go on forever on why Jess was an awful boyfriend and that he doesn't have special insight into her soul or head nor does he know her better than anyone but I think what the biggest reason why Rory belongs with Logan is because that what she wants due to the fact that she loves him under any circumstances.
Lilah Krugman AGREE so much. like people say that jess eventually stopped but that doesn't matter she had to say stop like 3 times before he did. It doesn't matter that he ended up doing so he should have stopped right away(besides rory was a virgin so basically jess was forcing her first time). Logan is way more considerate. Rory/Jess' first time was so unromantic (think about it at some guy's parents' bedroom & it was forced). Rory & Logan's first time felt right & he was very considerate.
Another thing I noticed was when Rory was with Dean she had her eye on Jess, when she was with Jess she'd ramble on about Dean (the Swan episode, the winter carnival etc) but when she was with Logan she rarely brought up neither of them. I liked Logan when the show was on but the more I watch these clips the more I wish they would have ended up together.
Consider, that Jesse was in a really bad place then. He was sad, he felt guilty, and wanted to feel wanted. Logan was climbing in for sex with a girl he liked, and wanted to impress. Yeah, Jesse was pretty agressive that time, but so did Logan, when he was in a crisis.

I don't understand why people don't like Logan? In other words, in this episode in particular he is a true gentleman despite the fact that he was used to any woman falling at his feet, however they want Jess who practically wanted to have relations with Rory by force, apart from all his other attitudes of course. Logan was a womanizer but when he got engaged to rory he was serious.
I love Logan too! (that smile omg) but I think people like jess because the bad boy archetype is always gonna be irresistible lol, and don't like logan because of his money. Plus Jess had very good character development.

How anyone can watch this and still say Logan was an asshole to Rory while also saying that Jess wasn't is simply not being honest and there's no talking to them since they've got selective memories.
I would like to point out that people's characters aren't defined by one single moment though...
I am not defining either Logan or Jess by a single moment. There are several moments where Jess was an asshole to Rory. This is just one of my favorite Logan and Rory scenes so I watch it alot.
Jess got Rory back in school and on track for her dreams. Logan got her off track. Logan only cared about parties and whining.
Rory's character is IMO badly viewed by the fans. In most fans' view Rory can never have doubts, change her mind, or make mistakes. When she does it's always someone else's fault. Who made her go to NYC to see Jess on a day when a very important event was going to happen for her mother? Did Jess make her do that? No but according to your view since Jess did not send her straight back home that day it is his fault Rory missed the graduation. No, it wasn't Jess' fault. It was Rory's. Rory Gilmore is not a perfect person and no one else should have to take the blame for Rory's bad decisions. Logan did not make her quit Yale anymore than Jess made her miss her Mom's graduation. Jess wasn't the only person that thought or told Rory she was making a mistake but she had to make them herself because it's her life. Also need to point out that while nobody is blame for Rory's wrongs, they are also not to applaud for her triumphs. Jess gave her food for thought but Rory was the one that had to actually put the thoughts into actions. Also, saying that Logan only cared about parties and whining is like saying that Jess was only about pranks (chalk outline and police tape in front of the market) and sarcasm.

Zoe Wright I honestly don't see any real parallels between Logan and Christopher. There's a fan theory that Logan is actually Rory's Richard, and that makes more sense to me. It's not a direct parallel, but I think it's a closer fit (especially with the whole fiancee thing). Besides, I always thought the idea of a child's life exactly mirroring their parent's life in film and lit was a bit....hacky.
Camille Pendragon exactly! There were no Parallels b/w Logan and Christopher except for the rich parents he hated. Logan encourages Rory to follow her dreams, and he also brought out her wild side a little bit which she also needed, by encouraging her to have fun and be adventurous.
I’m still mad at Palladino for dragging Logan’s character development through the mud in revival. Season 7 he had a huge breakthrough leaving his father’s company and starting on his own. But come revival he was back in London working for his father? Also,

On top of that he got in a fight with Luke. He was honestly an asshole & never changed. Where as I don't think Logan would get in a fight with Rory's ex because he didn't have that horrible jealousy that Christopher had. So when I was younger, I was totally Team Jess all the way, but now growing older and seeing the older episodes and the "A Year in the Life", I've been Team Logan. Yes, he was a douche as a kid, but aren't we all? Rory and Logan...are in my opinion a better, more mature version of Christopher and Lorelei. Buuuuut, with that said, Jess and Rory are better off as friends, Jess isn't Rory's "Luke". I think Logan and Rory should have ended up together, not Logan and Odette.
The frustrating thing is Logan would absolutely leave Odette if Rory would commit to him. Odette is clearly the family obligation fiancée. She and Logan deserve better.

I think you are correct in that when girls watch this show and they are in high school even early 20's they like Jess, they like the idea of a bad boy turned good. But bad boys aren't always a good catch. I think as girls mature they grow to realize that Logan and Rory are the more adult couple, long standing, true soul mates. When you're young you may not see this. Logan and Rory grew into that perfect couple. They were together for 3 years, ups ,downs but always found their way back to each other, were always there for each other.
They were meant to be together. Rory and Logan. Or Rogan forever.

I think Marty was symbolic of how Rory was pushing away her old morals and small town girl ways and entering the ‘rich’ and privileged world that she now was becoming a part of. This was seen through her being intrigued by Logan and living with her grandparents. Her rejection of Marty was a rejection of a part of herself, they’re similar in a lot of regards but Rory wanted to be someone else or maybe that’s who she was all along. He served to let us see which path Rory was deciding to go on. I appreciate him as a character but not everybody deserves or needs a story arc
