    Bringing a Fighter, Grave Cleric and Life cleric. "Yo, heard you liked indestructibility , so we brought a way you can literally not die."

    Great video! I'm pretty sure the Channel Divinity only allows you to heal others to half of their maximum hit points though.

    Why your channel doesn’t have 50.000 subscribers already is beyond me. But know this, if you continue what you are doing, the 50k will come. I see your sub numbers growing, and that is well deserved !

    Started CoS as a half elf Ranger. Realized we didn't have a cleric so multi-classed. Survived 1/1 level and just leveled to 1 Ranger 2 Life Cleric. This should be fun, and deadly. I have to get used to not charging up front!

    This is my main class and subclass. I think my DM is kind of challenged by me as my team can't die with me there. I had a PC rag-dolled by a zombie Trex down to his Death Saving throws. In my very next turn, I cast Preserve Life, fallowed by a level 2 Cure Wounds. He was back up to full health by his next turn. I was attached many times, but with a DC of 20 and Sanctuary cast on myself, I have yet to be hit by anything.
    Life Domain is my main!

    AKA, the Party Domain cleric. It's the Domain your party picks for you when you say you want to play a cleric, because apparently a cleric is just a healbot.....

    • @TheRPGDaily
      @TheRPGDaily  4 года назад +3

      Unfortunately, that's a sad state the cleric falls into. while I personally enjoy playing the life cleric, i really think payers should play whatever class they want, and if the party doesn't have a strong healer there are plenty of ways to bolster their healing pretty easily!

      I disagree. I've been playing a Life domain cleric for over 2 years now, and while I *can* heal, I can also fill a bunch of other roles within the party. I often tank with the barbarian and the paladin, dish out almost as much AOE as the wizard (thanks mostly to Spirit Guardians and Guiding Bolt), and often act as the face of the group, with persuasion and insight. Don't let the obvious mechanics of your class get in the way of role-play, you get to define your character for yourself.

    Life: the most powerful domain at doing what it's meant to do.
    Light: the most damaging domain
    Grave: when you want a slightly less healer specific life domain but do it with style and utility.
    Arcana: when you want to be a god.

      Is Light more damaging than War? or does War just have more action economy

    • @fortunatus1
      @fortunatus1 4 года назад +1

      @@zach1972 Light is more damaging than War because it's spell list just does more damage. The War spell list is good but its best spells are ones that the Light domain cleric will certainly also prepare (spiritual weapon/Spirit Guardians). Moreover, War's bonus action attack is quite limited (Wis mod # of attacks per long rest and must take the Attack action). That's not good. It should say Wis mod # of bonus action attacks per short or long rest and can be done with attack action or cast a spell action. But worse, War also requires an investment into both Str and Wis to improve its combat abilities. That stretches the Cleric's ASI's thin.
      And, yes, there is a big action economy problem here between the bonus action attack and Spiritual Weapon (which gets the Wisdom mod to attack and damage and so is probably better than a Str based attack). That's a big conflict.
      The Light channel divinity is quite strong (tho it doesn't scale well into high levels) whereas the War Guided Strike is decent but is better used when you get to level 6 on other players such as Rogues. War's level 17 power is not that good. Nonmagical damage only means you can resist claw/bites and such, not magic weapons. At that level, most enemies will have magic weapons. Plus, the Forge cleric's level 17 power is straight up better. The War level 17 should be magical or nonmagical resistance to B/P/S.

      @@TheRPGDaily wonderful. by the way I was wondering if you think displaying the titles of a feature when you mention it, on a side or corner of the screen would improve the videos a little. maybe even bullet points of important aspects of feature/spell as you mention them if you think that would work.

    I started running our first adventure ("The Lost Mine of Phandelver" downgrading the DC accordingly to my party due it's mean to be for a 4 characters party), just 2 characters party so far: 1 Fighter (Archery figthing style) and 1 Hill Dwarf Cleric (Disciple of Life) and at the beginning I really was afraid this might be not be a good balance but amazingly it's coming together quite nicely. We are about to include 1 Wizard but I'm concern if the Wizard class is the right choice (Fighter and Rouge are still open options), any pointers anyone can spare for a new GM will be kindly appreciated.

    • @TheRPGDaily
      @TheRPGDaily  3 года назад

      The fact that your managing the DC of the adventure is great, but you may find that you won't need to adjust it after a session or two. 3 players who get really into the game can be as potent as 4. What is your concern about the Wizard? Is it because the party would have 2 ranged attackers and a healer?
      I did a series here on the channel with DMs in which near the end of each interview I get their advice for new DMs. So, that's a place to start. But as for me. I just say remember that you're going to get better the more you run the game. make sure you're enjoying yourself too. You're the DM but that still makes you a player. Read over the monster stat blocks to make sure you know what they can do, that can make the difference between a challenging combat encounter and a less fun one.
      You'll do great!

    What ability score should you go for with standard point buy? (Goals, attain at least 16 STR, 16 CON & 16 WIS)
    What feat selection should be prioritized? (Goals, wearing full plate, req 15 strength, get Heavy Armor Master)

    • @TheRPGDaily
      @TheRPGDaily  2 года назад

      It really doesn't matter what system you use for making the ability scores, for clerics you'll want to have a high wisdom since that's your spellcasting ability, with point. Buy and using a hill dward for can get a str 16, con 16, wis 16 and if the other 3 one can be a 10, and the others 8, being the life domain gives you heavy armor proficiency at level 1, so for your first ability score improvement you could bump you str to 16 with no problem
