This was wonderful. Thank you for speaking so frankly on the issue. I see more young men with long (long) hair and it fills my heart with joy that they might be making intentional inroads against the trauma that’s been inflicted on their people.
The school district that I attended as a child had a dress code too, but there were exceptions for religious and culture beliefs. One student of indigenous dissent had a mowhawk. It was pretty cool!
Your hair is so beautiful..many American Natives from South America musicians and artists they have long hair, with their clothes they dance American Native music...
I'm a pakeha (white)...on new zealand..... the Maori culture is strongly endemic here...so facial tattoos are rife and common...especially for women. So kia kaka....you are hei toa...a warrior. .❤
Ever since I was a little girl, "Indian" men with long hair was FAR more attractive than "white" european men - who behaved with treachery and cowardice. NOW, approaching my 70s, I'm delighted to see Indigenous people wearing their hair, regalia and other items that reflect their love of our planet and the respect they have for it. I MUCH prefer to see a Navaho Bun than a "man bun" on a white person. There's no connection to anything with a "man bun". Seeing Indigenous people with their hair in braids/buns or mohawks even, I can't help but quietly celebrate their heritage in my heart.
You don't have to make up anything about hair or what you think it means. Just say you're a racist. Be proud! It's 2023! Racism is encouraged. (As long as it is against the right "people")
I'm Scots/Irish, but I guess "Anglo" from the perspective of many POC. I have long hair, too, in the Celtic/Anglosaxon/Germanic tradition of PRE-Christian, Pagan Europe. Short hair for men comes from Christianity. 1Corinthians 11:14 says, "Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?". Well, 1Corinthians 11:14 can BLOW US.
You talking about the Marine Corps letting a platoon of Natives keep their hair long in Vietnam? Indeed, Natives were recruited for their "Indian fighting" approach to guerrilla warfare against the Viet Cong. They found out that it didn't work with "high and tight" USMC haircuts, so the next wave of recruits was allowed to adopt the Marines' female regulations for keeping long hair squared away. The platoon with long hair could not be sneaked up on, even if asleep, and they were able to outfox VC guerrilla tactics. Around that same time, US Navy Commander Richard Marcinko founded SeAL Team "6" (at the time it was really only the THIRD team in existence, but it was a disinformation tact) and likewise insisted that he and his men be allowed to grow long hair and beards similar to undercover Law Enforcement.
Yes. and...It's all about conformity.. ALL boys had to go every two weeks to the barber shop to get their haircut. Everybody had to conform - that's why they hated Hippies-long hair!
This scorched earth campaign was admired by German chancellor and later dictator known as “ Hitler “ . Who administered small updater modifications of the widely known Holocaust.

Long hair means freedom 😊
I really appreciate knowing what the different hair placement means, as well as seeing some of the dancing. Thank you
Thank you for explaining the cultural significance. So impressive and so important to show this. 😊

Research the military scientific proof that it is tied to intuition.

They're called "Two Spirit" in the Native Tradition meaning that aspects of the masculine and feminine exist within the person.
