Its funny ive had a similar encounter with andrew johns once and found him to be incredibly humble and down to earth. Absolutely loathed him as a player because he was so good, but after meeting him im a fan.

great stuff...As a qlder I met Tommy Raudonikus RIP at a function a few years back and sunk a few beers with him...I always liked him as a player, but in person, mate...what a great person and his lovely wife too...

Nice one. Ive got a Similar story with an Aussie rules legend as well. Kevin sheedy is a bit like the Wayne Bennet of afl coaches. The bloke was at least 65 when I met him in a club I worked at. What a legend. Total ambassador for the game. Stayed until 4am, signed autographs all night and had a dance with all the development squad players girlfriends. It was hard to believe this really cool old dude was once such a menace on the field.

@@buster9915 Love these stories...As a youngster 13/14yrs I played rep footy on the Gold Coast with Scott Sattler...but i remember meeting dad John when he came into the dressing sheds to give a pep talk..i was in awe of the guy..and at that age he seemed a man mountain...as years went on, i bumped into him regularly (and Scott too) as he worked as a barman at the Bay leagues club...im 6ft 1 now and he seems a tiny man for being larger than life on the footy field, i cant believe he was a prop forward, amazing, always snuck me a free beer on arrival...had time for a chat (as he knew my parents well too)...the most kindest, gentlest, sweet natured man ive ever met...

it's the size of the fight you have in you, not the actual size of men... king wally, even a hard arse like mark wasn't enough.

"The King",... F...k me, WL wasn't a great footballer, nor would he have of won against Geyer , don't have to like what I've said, but that's the fact JACK.

Ha! Ha! Still hurts hey fella!! A statement like that says that you know that Wally Lewis was a great footballer. Mark Geyer, Joey Johns and the like respect him and that's all that matters. That's the fact JACK.
