And here we are in Winter 22-23'! Virtually no snow & only a few really cold days! Today 54 F on Feb 8th. Before we known it we will be in Spring wondering when we missed Winter!?
I live in NYC one of the worse pain is being soaked by a rain storm or having wet feet and legs after it snows. Great guide for people that are going to NYC in the winter months.
I'm from a smaller town in California and I've wanted to visit NYC for years but felt a bit overwhelmed and intimidated by it. Your videos have definitely helped me feel more comfortable and prepared, so thank you! I think I'm finally ready to plan a trip :)
Perfect video for my December trip! As an Alaskan I'm very familiar with the cold but that being said, I'm familiar with it in Alaska! Not the rest of the world! You never know until you're actually there how the differences will add up until you're freezing and miserable! I hope the next time I can visit New York will be like...September to October. That sounds like a nice time of year for NYC and not too hot for my frozen body LOL. Thanks for the tips!
Hi Thea, great job! I appreciate the compassion your video showed. My wife moved here from Costa Rica and the temperature transition hit her hard. It wasn't until we got conscious of getting her full artic gear that she was able to navigate the streets. Also don't forget the old addage, "when your feet get cold, put on a hat." Keep up the good work.
Great video Thea, I have only been to NYC in the spring , summer, or fall, but i i have always wanted to experience it during the christmas season, I'm hoping for 2022, Thanks
Excellent advice. Especially, recommending the humidifier for the home. Oh, and I love the fact you kept 5 pairs of shoes at your office. Great idea.Thank you for these helpful tips.
I found you while looking for a better understanding of the subways here. Thank you for making that video. I am new to NYC and though confident. I'd like to reassure myself with some better understanding. Much appreciate your content. Moved here to help my brother at his restaurant at The Market Line on Dalancey.
You're welcome! Thanks for watching. I know The Market Line. I've been there a couple of times. A bit of a hidden gem if you want a late night place to chat over drinks. Good luck to the restaurant!
@Urban Caffeine thank you so much. Eta to opening is a few weeks. If you're ever around. Do stop by. Essex Pearl. Mention the subway video and Mikey. Have a wonderful week.
I’m from Southern California and I’ll be in NYC in January. Thanks for the tips! I did survive several NYC winters as a college student in the 1990s, so short of a cold snap into the single digits, I will be ready.
I've been to NYC in December and yes it was the wind chill that was the worst, the same as here in the UK - and if we were to let the weather stop us doing things we'd never do anything, so as you say you learn to wrap up and carry on. I think I own more boots than shoes lol.
I find your channel very informative. I'll be moving to NY on mid-January next year and literally has no idea how cold NY could get on winter. May I know which brand of parka would you recommend? Thank you
I’m from Minnesota and I’ll be in Manhattan in a few days. I was curious how cold it is because I don’t want to overpack and I get hot easily anywhere 35-40+ degree
Hi Thea, I love your style of informative videos. Keep it up! The only thing I would add is Kleenex (my cold nose needs it) and if there is a waterproofing spray for boots.
Great tip! Yes, I do keep Kleenex on me all the time too. As for waterproofing spray, I don't have any recommendations but I think it's a good idea to use.
I’m traveling by the end of November and the first days of December. You think I should wear boots and very glacial clothes on me? What about socks? Any recs?
You Tube is so weird. I kept reloading the video and could only see the Audible link. So I copy and pasted what I could see and all the links were in what I pasted on here. So again, all I can say is weird, but at least I now know a way to find the links when I don't see them. 😁
"I have some interesting things relevant to the discussion. As my namesake suggest where I'm from, cold isn't exactly a problem in our part of the world, but not to say it doesn't get cold like a Winter in NY, it does if we consider the elevation. but we are talking about comparing 40 degrees north of the Equator that's affected by both the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf stream with 40 Degrees south where a similar warm water stream in the southern ocean that goes around the Earth starting 47 Degrees South makes it the way it is in Australian climates. But here are some Australian commonalities that although true that NY in the southern hemisphere sits about 100 Km or 60 miles north of the Island state of Tasmania over the bass straight. The north side of Bass Straight is The City of Melbourne sits 36 degrees south about 230 Nautical Km or roughly placing NY 135 NM south of the city of Melbourne, but the area is magnitudes warmer than NY winters, sea-level snow might as well for Melbourne be none year-round. Up over there as we say here, the USA city that closely matches Melbourne is fort Lauderdale. during Xmas Time Melbourne can feel more Tropical than any fort Lauderdale summer. For Australians to see snowfall at sea level we have to go to Tasmania, the state capital of Hobart which sits 43 degrees south, nearly nova scotia north of the equator, but it is still quite a rare event until elevation of 200 meters above mean sea level to consistently see snow settle in winter and somewhat in the Summer. Incredible geography right?"
Oh, I thought New York was colder than Scotland but It seems that on average it is actually way warmer, I think New York has more warmer days though which pushes up the average.

Yes! Sometimes I stay inside a place like Walgreens for half an hour to wait out the rain because I don't like getting wet.

Hi there! Thank you for watching ☺️
Have a feeling Thea and her channel is going to be my saving grace when I make my move to NYC for a job early next year 😆
Good luck on your move!

I'm coming from your what to do in your February video. Thanks for recommending this video the tips of staying warm during the winter 😎👍
Great video production. Found your channel by accident very informative. Thank you.
A happy accident. Thanks for watching!

Such a perfectly and well-presented video.
Thank you so much for this video! It gives me hope in surviving my trip to NYC from the south
Good luck! It's pretty cold right now actually.
I'll try to follow your videos, great accent and an appropriate speed to get some words to practice listening.
The part about potholes reminded me of that one scene in the movie groundhog day. Good video

Thanks for the tips! I’m going to be in NYC in December and have been wondering what I need to bring to be ready for the cold.
Have fun! It's always good to check the forecast as you get closer to your trip. It might not be snowing, but it could be really cold.
Great work! Family is going for Thanksgiving and want to be prepared incase a cold front comes through.
Thank you! Always worth keeping an eye on the weather forecast. Have a great Thanksgiving!
Great video. I doubt i would visit in the winter but just curious....i dont see markets or grocery stores. Do resident's stock up on food,?

Lately it's been 35-45. But it's the wind that hurts. Some days there's wind, some days there's not.
i grew up in NYC but now i live in the Philippines, there is a Jollibee's in NYC...

Love your videos, they're super helpful! Do you have any tips on finding an apartment in NYC?
Hi there. Thanks! I made one for apartments but it's an older video: ruclips.net/video/wj1bMnJ2Ayo/видео.html
Wondering if I should buy the Timberlands this year.
Hello I love the video I just came back from school
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the helpful video! Bracing for my first winter in the city. What about socks?
Hmmm, I usually wear athletic socks all the time that are medium thickness. I don't get blisters from them.
@@UrbanCaffeine Thanks!
Yea as a Californian used to coastal Mediterranean weather I don't think I could survive a New York winter.
I’m traveling by the end of November and the first days of December. You think I should wear boots and very glacial clothes on me? What about socks? Any recs?
The coldest months are usually in Jan and Feb with Nov being mild. But weather was mild all throughout winter this year.
I'm finding your videos very helpful but I don't see any links to the products in this video 🤔
The products that I listed in the video descriptions are the ones I was able to get links to. Which product were you looking to buy?
