Putting together a one hour video of this quality in just a week is honestly amazing. Way to go man, this is truly peak running-RUclips. Loved every minute!
Your videos, generally, and Runner’s Weekend, especially, are always demonstrations of fantastic storytelling and shot set-up. This one is among the best of them. Well done and thank you.
And the love between you and BITR crew AND the high-5s on the chain was great to see after hearing you talk about the loneliness. As someone that spends a lot of time away from my family for work, I know those moments don’t replace the family but they help.
Michael I have been watching and enjoying your videos for years but today I wasn't the only one enjoying this amazing trip to Japan. My whole family happened to be in the living room when I started watching it and they all enjoyed it to the last minute and started asking stuff about you and your trip 😁👌
This video reminded me so much of when I was there in 2016 for the marathon. Running around the Imperial Palace, not knowing how to order ramen from a vending machine all written in Japanese, navigating the train/subway system, having a blast site-seeing and exploring the city. Thanks for helping relive those memories, Mike! I'm glad you had a great experience in Tokyo!
43:31 - Mike, I am the guy from SPARC who met you on Saturday. It was a truly an honor to meet you in person! This video was top notch! It reflected some of my own personal experience. Hope to see you again in the future!
Wow this is more than just runners weekend, it's a complete Tokyo experience for everyone in all walks of life, for a moment I thought that I was in Tokyo until I heard yooo what's going on 😂😂. Thanks for this award winning vlog Ko❤️ stay blessed
Enjoyable video Michael. I love these Runner's weekend series. You've gone to some of the hotbeds of the running world, so now you'll have to start planning your Runner's Weekend to Kenya.
Congratulations on your new PB, Ko. I am so happy for you and it's been amazing to be part of your journey. Thanks for documenting it all for us. It means the world to me that we get to come on these crazy adventures with you.
Loving that this is a super super super long video 🥰🥰🥰. It's really a documentary I love the most the fact that you prd trying EVERY SINGLE VENDING MACHINE DRINK 😁😁😁😁
Congratulations for this exceptional documentary! I just spent a week in Tokyo with my wife and ran the Tokyo marathon and this documentary brought us back to Tokyo. A beautiful take on Tokyo and found it touching at the end. Thank you for producing this!
This was great! You did a wonderful job of catching many aspects of the Japanese culture, cuisine, daily life, etc. It's especially cool that this video was made by a runner with the ties you have to the running community. Well done! (Oh and the fact that most of the people were wearing masks everywhere just speaks to their wonderful culture, education and basic respect for others).
Wow. At first I thought 1h would be too much. But this was so goooooood. What a travel video and such a great story teller you are. This was pure perfection.
Well done! Running the Tokyo Marathon is on my bucket list. Thanks so much for taking us along with you on your journey. I really enjoyed it. Congrats! Hopefully I will get a chance to catch-up with you in Boston. Keep running tall and strong! Stay safe.
FASCINATING! My partner went to graduate school in Japan and we're big ramen eaters, so he's told me how different the ramen experience is in Japan. About the vending machines and the anonymous serving and eating alone, so it was great watching your video and having that supplement all the things he's told me through the years. It's incredible that there hasn't been an army of Starbucks taking over th cityscape given the impression I've gotten from you that the coffee there is terrible, lol. The singlet is SICK!!! It's like a work of art, much like this video! Thank you for taking me to Tokyo via your video. I am saving this because if I ever do get to Tokyo, this is going to be a great reference point to start from!
Mike congratulations on this excellent vlog and getting another major medal. In 2020 I came here 13 days after the race had cancelled on me - watching the 200 elites run instead. Disappointed and frustrated I don’t think I wanted to see the best of Japan. Yet the way you have told your narrative confirmed what an experience I have just has in closing out the Majors in Tokyo and reliving many of your observations for me, the second time around. Thank you.
Could hardly wait for this Runner's Weekend and it did not disappoint! Makes me want to get there even faster. Your mix of running culture and Japanese culture was spot on and you gave us all an idea of what eating in Tokyo looks like. Thanks so much.
I've been watching Mike's vlogs for several years now and this one is my favourite ! My wife and I spent some time in Japan a couple of years ago and had some similar experiences. We stayed in the suburb of Asaka at an Air Bnb. There was a river with gravel paths along side for miles that I ran on each morning. It was a special experience. Looks like Mike had a special experience as well.
Such a masterfully done video, definitely captured how exotic and beautiful Tokyo is for those of us who've never experienced it. Huge congrats on the PR as well, much deserved! Everyone has to listen to Robbe's telling of your karaoke friends on BITRs podcast "The Drop" it's pretty hilarious
Wow! Absolutely wow! Best 1 hour of content on the internet right now Mike! Your travel experience is more authentic than many travel vloggers today! Congratulations on your race!
On par with any of the best network travel programming I’ve seen. Truly top tier stuff. I watched the entire thing- amazing considering my ever shortening attention span. Bravo.
Awesome video, thanks for capturing and sharing. Legend! I was also there, same marathon, same hotel, similar meals, similar activities in general, video captures it all so well, thanks man!
I don't know how many times I've seen this video but it gives me chills every time. Such great work. And your Itahara race singlet. YO! IT. IS. FIRE! 🔥❤🔥🔥
👋Best runner's weekend and/or travel vlog I've ever had the pleasure of viewing! I'm sure I will revisit this video again and again. I would have no problem with this going on for another hour but I'm sure you put many hours into filming and editing. I look forward to more like this! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 👍👍✌
Love the video…just shows how much joy you had filming it. I am also happy I made it into the video! Hahahah. Thanks for sharing your Japan experience with us. Keep them coming!
Awwww I miss Japan so much! The last time I visited was right before the pandemic. Thanks Kofuzi for the awesome video! ❤ Amino Vital is a huge gel brand in Asia and a lot of my friends who live in Asia use it.
Very enjoyable Michael, thank you so much…very realistic…I have spent an hour just relaxing and appreciating the Japanese culture 👍 thank you so much 🤗
Won a bib in the general lottery a couple of days ago. This will be marathon number two for me and I’m hoping to break a personal best I set in 1983. Your Tokyo marathon recaps are the best I’ve seen in 48 hours spent down this rabbit hole.
Congrats Mike! This runner's weekend video is the next level!50:55 I'm not sure I'm brave enough to drink from the marathon shoes after a race though 😅
Outstanding! Thanks for sharing this experience with us. I feel like we got a good glimpse of Tokyo. Your blind tasting was hilarious, your footage and music were tasteful, and your voice over eloquent as always. Thank you 👌🏻
This video is completely .. totally .. immeasurably .. supremely cool ! Thank you so much for the very cool tour and Godzilla ! Wow ! The race, 3 temples and very cool toys .. thank you for letting us see this fun !
First runner RUclips video I ever watched. Love travel documentary. I am a runner and a traveler and now I need to start watching more of these runner videos. Love it!
i went to japan for the first time last december. i was totally mesmerized by this country. i didnt know how to put it in words. thank you for putting it in words at the end of your video! and tokyo being one of the most populated city in the world, is extremely clean!
This is amazing! I was there to get my 6-star this year. This took me down memory lane as I hit a lot of the spots you hit both in 2023 and 2020 (I went out there to run the marathon only to find out the day before I boarded a plane that it was cancelled for mass start runners). Probably my favorite experience of all the places I’ve traveled. And I love the 7-11’s!! My favorite thing to hit up after a night of drinking in Tokyo!! Outstanding work that you’re doing.
Watched this video like 5x already and guess what. I'm here in Tokyo to run the marathon this weekend. Your video inspired me to do this race. Thank you so much!!!😊 gambare!
@kofuzi i did! It was amazing! Thank you so much for taking time to vlog last year. The passive gambare "shout" was the best! And the race was extra 1 kilometer longer. 😅
Honestly my favorite video you have produced. It reminded me of all the different places I got to see and experience during my time in the Navy. Tbh shoe reviews are cool, but well put together video's about just experiencing life are priceless.

Thank you for the video! I was there rooting my husband as he got his 6th Star. Visited same spots. What an experience. Thanks again for your take on Tokyo.
This is the most realistic Japan travel vlog I’ve ever seen
Isn't it??? It's pretty amazing
I know right? I hate how all the Japan content on the internet has become sensation-ish. This here is authentic.
As usual, this is extremely well done. Thanks for including us. I still can’t believe we were provided this opportunity. Just amazing.
It wouldn’t have been the same without you
OMG Kofuzi is so brave to try all those mysterious unknown stuff before a marathon…😮
An hour long?!? This is the content I came for! Kofuzi is the GOAT!
Hope you enjoy!
there's def a future for you as a travel vlogger. The way you describe foods and sights makes the experience immersive for the viewer
And perfect sound/music choices to create the whole picture - thanks for sharing!
Well said
That was another level of filming, National Geographic couldn’t do it better, just awesome 🤩
I agree. It's VERY good

A trip of a lifetime
Love this Runner's Weekend videos. And it's an hour long, time to get the popcorn 🍿 Congrats, Mike! 🏅
Non elite runner, producing elite content. This is the best run/travel/food video I've seen on RUclips. Kudos Mike, and well done on the run 🏃💨
43:31 - Mike, I am the guy from SPARC who met you on Saturday. It was a truly an honor to meet you in person! This video was top notch! It reflected some of my own personal experience. Hope to see you again in the future!

Two things I’ve been waiting for all week… the new episode of The Mandalorian and Kofuzi’s Runner’s Weekend…. Both did not disappoint!!!
43:48 so happy to got a hi-five from you! 🤩🤩🤩 congrats on your PB, Mike! 🎉 outstanding video as usual!
Thanks for coming to the shakeout!
Enjoyable video Michael. I love these Runner's weekend series. You've gone to some of the hotbeds of the running world, so now you'll have to start planning your Runner's Weekend to Kenya.
I’ll need to get better at running hills first
You beautifully captured the mystery and magic of Japan. Even as this one hour vlog was nearing the end, I was left wanting to see/hear more.
Congratulations on your new PB, Ko. I am so happy for you and it's been amazing to be part of your journey. Thanks for documenting it all for us. It means the world to me that we get to come on these crazy adventures with you.

Just wow, outstanding production. The Japanese ministry of tourism needs to cut you a check for doing such a good job of show casing japan.
This is a top notch next level here Cousin Ko! Thanks for allowing us to follow you on this journey.
Thank you for coming with me
JUST. SO. EPIC! Loved every minute of your experience! Life on a treadmill has never passed so quickly.
The content you make is a whole other level
Well done! Running the Tokyo Marathon is on my bucket list. Thanks so much for taking us along with you on your journey. I really enjoyed it. Congrats! Hopefully I will get a chance to catch-up with you in Boston. Keep running tall and strong! Stay safe.

That was a fun evening
Please do more long form videos on race weekends. Especially when traveling, and/or doing world majors. This was amazing!
Love the video. Tokyo is my favorite city in the world and is definitely somewhere you need to solo travel at least once.
I think it’s a very good city for solo exploration
Wow! Absolutely wow! Best 1 hour of content on the internet right now Mike! Your travel experience is more authentic than many travel vloggers today! Congratulations on your race!

Watching this masterpiece gave me the best 1 hour I have ever spent on the treadmill. Thank you Kofuzi-san 🙏🏻
I enjoyed this long format a lot. It really captured the experience of Japan.
Thank you for making this beautiful video and taking us along this journey.

Absolutely love this video. That transition you did looking out into the Japanese morning darkness and then seamlessly switched to light was awesome.
I had a lot of time to think about it
Awwww I miss Japan so much! The last time I visited was right before the pandemic. Thanks Kofuzi for the awesome video! ❤
Amino Vital is a huge gel brand in Asia and a lot of my friends who live in Asia use it.
Dude, you are taking the runners weekend vlogs to a new level! This is epic. I am determined to get to Tokyo now after watching this.
Stunning, Kofuzi. From the images to the score, you hit this one out of the park. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Sean!

Thank you for taking the time to put this vlog together. This is really well thought out considering you lost a camera as well.
I LOVE THIS KIND OF TRAVEL VLOGS ❤ i think i've watch this vid like 4 times already
Thanks so much for watching!
This was incredibly well done. Enjoyed it start to finish.
Won a bib in the general lottery a couple of days ago. This will be marathon number two for me and I’m hoping to break a personal best I set in 1983. Your Tokyo marathon recaps are the best I’ve seen in 48 hours spent down this rabbit hole.

What a great experience! I love the way you documented it. I hope you get to visit again, soon.
Me too
The best runner’s weekend episode yet!
So very interesting! You make everything in your vlogs absolutely fascinating! Thank you!
Beautiful video! Damn impressive editing! Love the music and your dolce voice over!
OMG, just realised that was an hour long video! Didn't even realise it until I read it elsewhere in the comments! Time flies when you are having fun!
That's an absolutely brilliant vlog, thanks so much Kofuzi
Congrats Mike! This runner's weekend video is the next level!50:55 I'm not sure I'm brave enough to drink from the marathon shoes after a race though 😅
It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be
So fun watching this and seeing all the things eaten and all the people. Always love this runner weekend videos of yours
Great storytelling and for giving a view into your journey and the culture and people of Japan.
Outstanding! Thanks for sharing this experience with us. I feel like we got a good glimpse of Tokyo. Your blind tasting was hilarious, your footage and music were tasteful, and your voice over eloquent as always. Thank you 👌🏻
thank you
Really enjoyed your Japan trip video. Can't believe you did so much right before a marathon. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I already wanted to go to Japan at some point and this sealed the deal. Awesome video.
Highly recommend
I laughed out loud at your face after watching the pigeon get carried away on a dust pan. Great video, as always.
I'm still baffled by it
This was fantastic, loved every minute of it, thanks for sharing
This was a really great watch. I enjoyed the longer run time.
A 1 hour Kofuzi video??? LFG!!!!
I love the food you showcased. Reminded me of my trip there many years back and I’m itching to go back.
Fantastic video, love the travel vlog style.
This is amazing! I was there to get my 6-star this year. I miss Lawsons already
This is a bloody amazing video. Great job Kofuzi 👏
I don’t how you do it, but your videos are on another level. Breathtaking, just breathtaking.
Lived 9 years in Japan. This blog made me want to go back right now.
Kofuzi = legend
Watched this video like 5x already and guess what. I'm here in Tokyo to run the marathon this weekend. Your video inspired me to do this race. Thank you so much!!!😊 gambare!
Have a great race!
I’ve been really enjoying making them
Late watching this because I hoarded it for what I knew would be some lengthy TM sessions. What a delight; everyone has already commented on the brilliant filming, editing and content. Your days were full but if you ever go back with more time, I’ll again suggest one of the major dept. stores such as Takashimaya, which epitomize the cultural dichotomy you allude to. Be sure to see the kimono floor with all the traditional accoutrements, and Leona managed to get to the food basement of one of them, which is always an amazing experience. Also, having been to Japan at least 20 times, I believe that’s a robe, not pajamas that was in your room. Some hotels actually have 2-piece traditional PJ’s that are usually way too large for me, but Lev loved them and even bought them (they usually sell them). I also agree with the commenter who said Japanese coffee is excellent if you go to the right place. The genius of the culture has been the skill of imitating and sometimes exceeding the best from other cultures, whether it’s French pastry, automobiles, or you name it. Vending machine or instant hotel room coffee doesn’t represent the best coffee there by any means! Beautiful job, Mike
thanks so much Martha! I hope to go back and experience more.
So excited to watch, your montage skill is awesome.
footage not shot on-insta360 RIP. thanks for the inspo we are planning our first Japan trip this fall and I cannot wait! Glad you had such a great trip!
I was a bit sad your Tokyo Marathon recap was short and then you give us an hour of your trip to Tokyo!!! 🎉🎉🎉
What a great clip done!
Japan is indeed a country worth visiting with lots of beautiful sites and foods to try... respect how you did understand their cultures and did the same alongside!
I may have jaywalked a couple times in the first few days as I was figuring things out
Great video Kofuzi! This was a throwback treat for me, to my visit last November. I miss it a lot!
I've just revisited this film after returning from the 2024 event. Like Mike I couldn't sleep well due to jet lag (Flew from the UK)
20:55 "the sense of loneliness was suddenly immeasurable" I had that EXACT feeling on my 2nd night when I couldn't sleep at 3am!
Was very, very weird! I'm not the most emotional person, but I felt that sadness you get when you've had a bereavement of someone special! The brain is a funny thing when its tired but cant turn off!
it's a weird feeling. haunting, almost
This was truly fantastic Kofuzi! Loved the tour - especially all the food sampling.
I wanted to punch that claw game through the screen. Also you very accurately captured how cold I was on that first shakeout run - R
I really feel like the claw machines were rigged
Absolutely amazing work!!! Thank you so much for posting this video. I sort of feel like I have been to Tokyo now. Glad you had a good trip and a good race too!!
I know this was done a few months ago and I'm a little late, but I wanted to tell you thank you. I thoroughly enjoyed this.
thanks so much for watching!
My husband used to live in Japan and he loved the drink vending machines. He would always get hot green tea out of them. Great travel video! Thanks for sharing the experience with us!
I should have drank more green tea
Wow I sat through the entire length of this video and loved every minute of it. Well done Mike!
Thanks Jackie!
I enjoyed it very much. Very well made. Beautiful video about Tokyo Marathon and Japan. I love Ichiran Ramen too🤤
Absolutely amazing video you produced! Loved watching it and felt like I was there experiencing every moment. Love all the culture behind places you visited and so brave to try all those unknown food 🥘
The intersection!!!! 🙌. What an awesome trip!
Thank you for the video! I was there rooting my husband as he got his 6th Star. Visited same spots. What an experience. Thanks again for your take on Tokyo.
congratulations to you and your husband!
