    S2’s are so killer. When I did one of the factory tours, the tour guide said the S2 were a direct assault on mid range fender/Gibson and they really are. You get so much guitar. American made workhorse tone machines.

    I am actually a fan of pattern regular neck. I have two core lines with regular neck, S2 Vela and this s2 standard 24 black satin in the video with a pattern regular neck :). I feel lucky now that I bought it :). It seems pattern regular neck will become a rarity. Actually ‘pattern thin’ due to the name makes you think like a smaller neck but it is actually wider and this makes it feeling bigger in hand while playing. So buy the pattern regulars while still available :). Also I have to say S2 satin line are incredible guitars and not only for the price. The wood quality, fret work and acoustic resonance of the insteument is equal to 3 times more expensive guitars. I know because I have both. They are almost perfect guitars …. ‘if only’ Paul adds stainless frets to them ;))).. I would buy.. one more.

    I just bought a 2022 S2 Standard 22 Satin and am absolutely blown away by it. PRS had not been on my radar for why, I don't know, but I randomly picked up an SE Hollow II in a store a few weeks ago while testing a pedal and was very impressed. When I started looking through the catalog, I initially was after the S2 594 Thinline, but hearing the Standards now had the same pickup, and the satin nitro, I went to try one. I tried three in store. The first two were good, but the third blew me away, it resonated so nicely. This is easily on par with American Pro Strat build quality, but for 100s less.

    I’ve owned 2 of these and they’re magnificent instruments. Now I play a CE24 but will probably eventually pick up another S2 as a back up. S2’s are 10/10, can’t recommend enough.

    I own a PRS Standard Satin 24, but mine is older and has a pattern regular neck. I WISH it had a pattern thin neck. That aside, this is my most stable guitar. They're not kidding when they call it a workhorse - it stays in tune really well and it's really well constructed. My one gripe is the pickups - it has pickups that sound good for single note stuff but not so much clarity on crunchy chords. I upgraded the bridge to a Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates and it made a big difference. GREAT guitar. I have to check out the new one. I don't know anyone who loves the S series pickups. I think it's the one big area where the SE and S2 lines could be improved.

    • @James-qu6ul
      @James-qu6ul 2 года назад

      The 58/15 S pickups in my 2021 s2 Satin, sound really good. At least to me. I was actually planning on a pickups upgrade, but didn't need to. The 58/15s with that satin body, just produce a really nice tone. Your had the 85/15s I am guessing?

    • @budgetguitarist
      @budgetguitarist 2 года назад

      @@James-qu6ul Yes, I did. I found them to be great for a thick, single note lead sound, but too thick for the traditional classic rock 70's crunch that I prefer.

    The S2 Satin series guitars are, IMHO, the absolute best guitars ever made. Ever. I've owned 4 9ther Core models, and just about every other guitar made by every other maker in the 30 years I've been playing, and these S2 Satin models blow away everything else ever made. Period.

    I am a Fender Strat guy, but this guitar, started talking to me, 2nd time I have watched this demo, only cause its sound got stuck in my head...Its tone and design are really great. I think this guitar wants to come and live at my house, with me, it will likely want to record in the studio, it reminds me of a Gibson SG with a Bit of Fender Telecaster and a touch of Strat. Could easily become a rockstar guitar of choice for sure. Looks nice on stage, does the job and sounds great in the studio. Nice work! added to the wish list! will demo it in a music shop

    Just bought the S2 Satin Standard and this is my 4th PRS following a Core C24, Core 408 and a Core McCarty 594. The S2 plays just as good as the Cores with a beautiful feel in the hand. The S2 pickups are the "S" versions of the 58/15 LT's in my McCarty - they seem to be a bit higher output but surprisingly, still retain the "airy" quality that the Core versions have, definitely not inferior, just a little different. The satin neck is an absolute dream to play, smooth, fast and very comfortable.
    Considering this is a US made guitar at 1/3 of the cost of the Cores (in Australia), it would have to be the best value guitar on the market and absolutely in the same league as the Cores.

      Pretty significant. The LTs are handwound and voiced pretty vintagy. They don't even sell them on their own and when they hit the used market, they go for like 600 bucks. The S are a fair bit hotter, but they tend to sound cheap and more than not, people swap them with something else.
