- A comprehensive video on how to identify and TIG weld cast iron. In this video I fully review how to spark test, choose the right filler material, prep the joint, pre-heat, weld, peen, and post heat. Tried my hardest to make an excellent instructional video on something that most people find difficult and frustrating: to weld cast iron. Enjoy!!!
Hello, excellent taste. Video. A question. Can I weld automotive parts such as cast iron engine blocks with this electrode?
I thought aluminum bronze was the more suitable bronze brazing rod?
I've always used Lincoln electric cast iron repair rods (99%), have never pre heated and just let it cool naturally, never peened either (thought that was just for when you use steel filler). Honestly I've never had a problem with welds failing and I repair a lot of old crap, as long as the edge prep is good you can weld from cold with 99 rods.
Love that Middle Eastern Music, reminds me of a Scene in 'Kelly's Heros' where Odd Ball is with his Tank crew enjoying some Rays, drinking some Wine and eating some Cheese....cheers my friend, Paul
TDF, really enjoyed this, informative..BUT!!!!.....you got the 99 and 55 back wards.....99 is more machinable [still needs carbide tooing] than 55 due to the lack of carbon pickup in the all nickel weld metal. and I as you said, for single pas welds....55 is a stronger weld and is used for multi pass welds, and can only be machined with carbide tools or grinding...hope this helps [ I have been doing lots of study on this the last few weeks as I am about to do a video on the same subject]......cheers from Central Florida, Paul...new subscriber....WhooYaaa
Would've been nice to see the finished product.
Great video. Pean that cast iron!!!!
If I want to weld cast iron to steel is silicone bronze doable? It’s an art project
😂 I BET YOU WOULD BE A RIOT TO HANG OUT WITH
