Tips for cities to visit near Amsterdam

Amsterdam by itself is already a destination that consumes several days of the itinerary of a trip, but have you heard about the cities that are around Amsterdam?
When we went to Thailand in 2020, we stayed in a bungalow on Koh Tao, and a Dutch couple stayed next to us. Conversation goes and conversation comes, we invite them to have dinner with us. I tell this whole story in Koh Tao's video, here on the channel.

In the end, we even made a whatsapp group and continued talking.
Obviously, when we decided that we were going to Amsterdam, we let them know right away. We agreed that they would pick us up at the hotel, and do a one-day tour of the cities around Amsterdam.
After a little stop at their house for a coffee and some sweets, the route starts in the city of Edam. Then we went to Volendam, a city full of curiosities, check out the video.
After Volendam, we went to visit Zaanse Schans, which is like an open-air museum of Dutch architecture and cuisine. It is located in the city of Zaandam.
And in the end, we were lucky enough to be on the right day, in the right place. We went to visit Alkmaar, and there was an annual festival going on where they dress up, sing, sell food and drink, as if they were in the 16th century. It was a spectacle.
