The 3 Body Problem is a novel by Chinese sci-fi author Liu Cixin, and it is the first installment in the Remembrance Of Earth’s Past trilogy, the second being The Dark Forest and the third Death’s End.
3 Body Problem took us by surprise. We haven't read the book, but this looks like a MUST READ and MUST WATCH.

Book reader here, you guys are not prepare for what you about to experience, this is one of the best sci-fi book series I've ever read, if the show did the book justice it'll be full on existential dread.
So far from what I gather the author is a producer and consultant on the show and the author said he's fine with them making a few changes since the books would be extremely hard to adapt perfectly.
@@jeffbachman2949 It would be hard to adapt for general Western audience, the 1st book rely heavily on Chinese history and culture, since Netflix targeting the international audience changes are inevitable, plus China already did a faithful adaptation and they only targeting the Chinese market so the Chinese show basically a 1:1 adaptation, and it's a huge success in China.
@tsukasa1608 and as someone who read the books the Chinese show I actually thought was a bit of a slog. TV and novels are a different medium and 30 episodes basically of a word for word copy was a real slog at times. Plus china censored and made them cut out certain parts.
Doing more research after...obviously we have not read the book...but this looks nuts...heard the book(s)? sorry if it's multiple idk, but hearing it's absolutely crazy. Trailer looks good. Netflix pumping out quality content of late....this should be another!

The Dark Forest is my favorite sifi book.
I hope Netflix does the book justice. It's such an intriguing story.

They are changing a lot. I only hope that those changes would be "side steps". They rarely make things better (excemption with for example "The Mist"..movie was better for a one reason than the Stephen King's novella)

There is a Chinese series adaptation from Tencent called "Three-Body". It is based on the books written by Liu Cixin, a Chinese author and the story is predominantly Chinese in nature. The series consists of 30 episodes, with the first two available for free on RUclips. It remains faithful to the source material for the most part. However, it appears that Netflix has made some changes to the story by splitting one of the main characters into several characters for an international audience.

@@ManCave101Podcast As I haven't read the books but have only watched the Chinese adaptation, I'll reserve judgment until the Netflix show is released. The key is for them to convey a compelling theme, as demonstrated by Mike Flanagan's excellent reimagining of "The Haunting of Hill House" based on Shirley Jackson's novel. Flanagan shifted the focus from random strangers trying to survive in a haunted house to a family and explored how the haunted house impacted them over time. Each character represented a different stage of grief and loss, showcasing Flanagan's ability to craft a powerful narrative. Therefore, I have high hopes for Netflix’s 3 Body Problem adaptation.
Bro, this is the greatest sci-fi you will ever see, and this is one the the first book of the trilogy, second and third season will FUCKING BLOWING Your mind!
Hopefully Netflix does the Books justice from what we are hearing!

The novel trilogy that this show is based on is considered as the greatest Science Fiction work of 21st century.
If they get a season 2, the Red Wedding can go sleep! These books are mind-blowing.
For me THIS is the best story ever written. You can get yourself ready for a ride.
Hope they dont fuck it up.

To give you a glimpse of how bleak this trilogy is, the last book, once translated into literal Chinese simply means "God of Death Lives Forever"
