@@deadlyradiation7977 Agreed. I know that well. But the ultimate influence is, I believe, from the Holy Spirit and hence God. Kirk realised the alien on this movie was not God, and of course Roddenberry would be OK with that, but the Spirit blows where He will, and many or most would see Trek as Godly. Likewise, Copland wanted his "Tender Land" to be edgy, and yet everybody sees it as praising "Simple gifts" (from God) - the name of the tune he actually put into Appalachian Spring, which re-emerged as Lord of the Dance about Jesus. These things are not by chance. Beautiful good things connect, and the more we seek that, the more we find. Yet evil things are not just bad, they are mindless, meaningless and chaotic and mocking. Ask Putin's soldiers, who so often die such stupid deaths, even as they cause so much hurt... The Ukrainians actually dub them orcs, which is understandably dehumanising, but the point is made. I once loved Middle Earth, but now see it as utterly alien, since the highly-Catholic Tolkien made it Godless. The Shire is clearly England, more advanced technologically and turning its back on the more spiritual places like Gondor and Rohan and the demonic Mordor, but anyway all there is Godforsaken. The universe in Trek is not, for all that Gene wanted it to be about the best of humanity. Well of course, the best of humanity comes from the Paraclete.
This is arguably my favorite version of the theme, they used this version for the end credits of Insurrection and Nemesis and it;s the only thing I revisit from Nemesis.
@@paulonius42 Yes, but that version sounds a lot thinner. This one sounds perfectly arranged and orchestrated. It sounds thick, or epic, because of the right use of instruments to fill out the soundscape.
I think the biggest thing they missed was not ang the romulans spaceship into this they could have sold more toys for sure and it would have been cool to see them in this middle of the kirk time as an ally in the attempt to get their own ambassador
did you not notice that the ships are not the same? At the left we have the NCC-1701 and on the right we have the NCC-1701-A wich is the right one for that movie btw the NCC-1701 got destroyed in Star Trek III
I don’t think this movie is as bad as most people seem to think. Sure it’s more like a TOS or TNG two parter than something “worth” a movie, but I’m tired of films with apocalyptic stakes.
I think the real reason most people don't like this film isn't because it's bad, it's because they were hoping that the "God" they found would be more interesting than some charlatan and buffoon. But perhaps it's a message and truth drop to seek God within, because if you seek him without, you get used and taken advantage of and end up disappointed. All ancient spiritual systems said to seek God within. So that means something.
Giving a thumbs down and negative review of this video itself and not Jerry Goldsmith's score - I've known this music for 30 years, and it's excellent! ... ... It kinda stinks when you start this video, get in the pool at night, and just try to listen to your Start Trek V music and try to remove yourself from a stressful day, and two minutes in, there are two ads, then 3-5 minutes later, you're interrupted again with ads. I understand there will be ads at the beginning. But COME ON!!! Multiple interruptions of an under 15 minute video?
Hello Danny, I agree it's a poor listening experience when the music gets interrupted by ads. The music in my suites is owned by the copyright holders and they insert the ads, not me. I put a lot of effort into creating my suites but there's nothing I can do about the ads, that's just how it is listening to free music on RUclips. For an ads free listening experience there's the option of subscribing to RUclips Premium. Take care!
@@SoundtrackOfTheMind Hey understand your perspective, but it is not just how it is always on RUclips. I've got several videos that I've had on my playlists for years, including a few relaxing Zelda music compilations. One is about 55 minutes, the other is 2+ hours, and I never get in-video ads with those. Your video is less than 15 minutes, and there should ONLY be ads at the beginning. Thank you.
I've seen something similar with the videos on my channel. Some have in-video ads, some only put them at the beginning or end, some have no ads. It's different copyright holders applying different rules. Complicating matters, copyright holders can differ by country based on where the video was uploaded. A music video uploaded in the US might see different ads logic than the same music video uploaded in a different country if the copyright owner differs between countries. I've seen this with my videos, I'm in the US and I'll upload a video and it gets lots of ads, but someone located overseas will upload a similar video and there's few or no ads. Pretty crazy. Anyhow, glad you found some videos you like that don't insert ads midstream.
Not all spiritual systems. Be careful with that. Actually the "seek God within" idea can be taken erroneously, as it is in the demonic New Age Movement, to mean that we humans are God (or gods), but that's idolatry and blasphemy. Any teaching that claims that human beings and God are inherently one, from the day of one's birth, lie in order to deceive, and teach a false doctrine regarding spirituality and reality: pantheism or panentheism. Such religions/spiritual systems often come from those who are evil, and who desire to corrupt and destroy man. Because such systems, whilst elevating man and Creation, inherently demote and profane the Creator - whilst pretending that they don't, because they claim that "all is one". This idea, whilst seemingly elegant, is a beautiful lie of evil - and those who are evil desire to survive or escape God's judgement. So, no one can inherently find God by simply looking within. On the other hand, in Christianity, God enters into and forever joins with the individual who believes in Him for salvation. It's akin to a marriage partnership that never ends. That individual then has God within them, because they have accepted Jesus Christ, via a conscious decision and a free will choice. This is important, because God does not force Himself on anyone, but only responds to those who seek Him out, the true God. He says this: "And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart." Christianity claims that the people who do not accept Christ, the Son of God, also do not have God the Father, thus, Christ's claim is exclusive, which means that according to God, many religions/spiritual traditions in this world speak in vain, and teach error by saying "seek God within". One cannot find Him there (without Christ), and will mistake their own spirit and soul for the Spirit of God - as has already happened in many cults and false religions, which exalt man into a place of inherent divinity (a lie). Likewise, all false religions teach that one can get to God through one's own work, rituals, practices, or by attaining superior knowledge and power. But Jesus Christ claims the exact opposite: that the gift of immortality is free, for whoever will come in humbleness before God, and ask for that gift, and repent of their sin, and walk in the footsteps of Christ. The above is a very summarized explanation of the difference between various spiritual systems in this world and what they claim. But it is important to make that distinction. So, what Kirk said at the end of the movie is only half-right. According to God's own words in the Bible. The other thing to understand is this, a person who is actually with God, they will bear GOOD FRUIT in their life that is visible to anyone who knows them. True faith in the true God bears very good fruit and transforms lives, and the world. The one who walks with Christ becomes ever more like God - in terms of moral character, in terms of their life (they receive eternal life), and in terms of spiritual maturity (not in terms of power or essence). In other words, simply said: they cannot remain prideful, corrupt/immoral, sinful, evil, or do whatever they want - instead they become humble, righteous, pure, gentle, peaceful, self-controlled, loving, joyful and holy - just as God Himself is. Many may claim to be "spiritual", but most follow Satan or their own ideas (many of which derive their origin from Satan). But *few* are those who actually follow the true Creator/God of the universe, are godly, and will inherit His promises. Not because people have to earn God's favour by impressing Him (rather He is the One who gives us favour, even though we do not deserve it), but because we simply: *do not trust Him.* That's why Jesus emphasized that the most important component of life that humans *have to learn* is: faith. (Whilst most of Satan's own religions denounce faith as foolishness, and emphasize that a person must possess either superior knowledge that enlightens them, or superior power that makes them "god-like". As you can see, most of our entertainment and movies celebrate the satanic ideal, as does our culture, our institutions, and most false religions and ideologies of the world.)
They originally had a different theme for TNG, but the consensus was that it sounded too much like Superman music, so they opted for Goldsmith's The Motion Picture theme instead. Good choice.
Say what you will about the movie overall, but Jerry Goldsmith hit a home run with the music!
He always did!

The film is on not on my list of Star Trek favourites, but I do love this theme. Parts of it are very relaxing.
The usual theme, of course. But this was the ONLY time a full symphony orchestra was involved
Not true. Star Trek the Motion Picture, where this theme originated, had a full symphony orchestra.
