this system was still use around 2005-2006 if you are flying on a plane that still has it example might be B777-200 & B777-300 A330-300 Regional configuration for route Hong Kong to Manila with CX 904 being the first Manila to Hong Kong flight with connection to New York JFK on CX830
Only if you flew before 2015 you would get that dated product. They are now using StudioCX with Full IFE system. Screens are now 16:9, despite the fact they continue to use old air show on some aircraft (which would be eliminated in the 2020 era). Passengers now have full control on the when the program actually starts. The product type of the aircraft is now well known and documented publicly by Cathay.
@Wesley Tan I actually did that, but on B777-200 2-5-2 economy class configuration, you would need to actually be standing up in order to see the screen while fitted with the same IFE system seen here. If flying to JFK nonstop pre 2007-2009 B777-300/er A340-600 has screens for you using the same ife system but business class has the remote
Correct 2005-2006 you tend to see on 🇭🇰Chep Lak Kok Airport to Ninoy Aquino International Airport Manila🇵🇭 or CX920/921 Mactan Airport Cebu. From connecting flight originating from JFK Airport CX831 & 889.
Good point and at least it's not the Same one as the Swissair 111 system. On other Aeroplanes that have the system, these were B747-400 & A340-600. This is used with a Remote on First and Business classes seen in Video Economy Class on those Aeroplanes towards JFK from HKG B747 via Vancouver🇨🇦

The Remote Is Not Using Handheld Remote Yet
Predecessor to StudioCX.
