    Great review! I have about 1,000 miles on my 2017 FE 350 and reiterate the points mentioned. This is NOT a bike for highway riding in its stock condition. It IS a sick dirt bike that can be ridden on dirt roads or two-lane byways, but thrives in single or two track. The suspension eats everything and you can take on foot-high rocks head on. Absolutely the best bike if you have trails within riding distance of your house. If you’re going to truck this bike to trails I’d get a FX (or TE / TX), but for my purposes, with a lot of fun back roads in Southern VT, this is the perfect ride.

      Thanks man! Been a busy summer, need to find time to make some more vids! Best I can describe the 350 is essentially a mountain bike with a motor, almost the same get up as a 450, but the nimble feel of a 250.

I've been talking with some people telling me I would learn better and easier on a KTM or Husky instead of a KLX250 or CRF250L because they are more maniable and light bikes. What do you think ? I am wanting to change from DRZ400E to FE350 for the exact same reasons as you did from the DR650. Can I ask why you did not go for the FE250? Was it power alone or other reasons as well? The 250 vs 350 weight is not much difference.

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  5 лет назад

      I was able to test ride the FE250 and while it felt really good, it was lacking some lower end grunt that I wanted as we do occasionally have stretches of road we ride. The 350 is closer to the 450 in terms of performance, and I was not quite sold on a larger bike with more power, so the 350 seemed like the right fit!

    Yea great vid and thanks for info on the bike. I am looking at a 2017 one. Would you mind me asking about your height and how tall you are (and the seat height). I see a lot about Huskies being tall (38 inch seat height). Thanks

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  6 лет назад +1

      I am 6'3" and I can ride it comfortably and pretty much flat foot the bike. Most moto/enduro bikes are going to have very similar seat heights due to the amount of suspension travel they typically have. There is also some sag as well once you sit on it. I would venture down to a KTM dealer or a Husky Dealer and sit on one!

    • @jondipietra8381
      @jondipietra8381 6 лет назад +2

      I’m 5’ 6” and was very concerned this bike would be too tall before I got it. In the beginning, it was. However, I swapped the stock seat for a lower one for starters. Really, the best way to “lower” the seat is to become strong on the bike. I spent a lot of time doing Graham Jarvis type balance drills like figure 8s etc. I don’t ever feel the size of this bike and actually feel like it’s an advantage in rough terrain.

    • @CoolEyeColorado
      @CoolEyeColorado 6 лет назад +1

      I ended up getting a 2017 KTM 250 EXC-F. While it is tall and I do go on my toes while sitting on it, I think it is fine. I am working on skills and balance and have done a few rides with no issues, so the height does not seem to be a factor. I am 5’8”. Thanks for the info.

    Hello! Thanks for your review, it looks like an amazing bike! I have some questions though cause I’m looking to buy a bike and I’m confused between all the bikes available on the market. If you could answer me it would be amazing :) First, I’m looking for a dual-sport because I wanna do both : trails and road. My problem is that I would like a light bike (250 pounds and less) and the only ones with less than 250lbs are KTM’s and Husqvarna’s, which are very expensive and tall (I’m 5’5’’). I don’t know much about bikes and I hear a lot about maintenance of these two compagnies and how expensive they are. Is it true ? If I buy a Fe350, will I have to change oil every 8 hours ? Or I can wait every 5000km? I hear also that KTM’s and Husqvarna’s engines are more subject to break. Is it true ? Even if I treat my bike like a king and do everything I gotta do to keep it clean ? I’m ready to do some maintenance on my future bike but not too much neither, just what is necessary to keep it clean and in excellent condition. The other bike I was looking for is the Kawasaki KLX 250, but it is much more heavier. Is the double price (FE350 = 12850$CAD and KLX250 = 5800$CAD) worth the difference of weight ? Thank you if you can answer me and sorry for my bad English, I’m from Quebec City!

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  5 лет назад

      Thank you for watching the review! Also, awesome that you are looking for a bike! Now let me attempt to answer all your questions for you!
      First off, its is quite the challenge to find a good bike that is 250lbs or less. I am only familiar with what we have here in the states, what you have available to you in Canada might be different in terms of what is legal on the road. Yes, KTMs and Huskys are expensive bikes unfortunately, you can find used ones around here in good shape for $7k or less. But that gets into your next point, all of them are tall at around 37in or higher seats, which is difficult to manage on a trail if you arent close to 6ft.
      As for maintenance, yes the Husky and KTM bikes have more aggressive service intervals simply due to how high performance the motors are, they are essentially street legal dirt bikes and sacrifice very little in the way of performance, which usually means more expensive parts and more frequent services. You wont be going 5000 kms between oil changes on any KTM or Husky that weighs 250 lbs or so. The engines and bikes when taken care of are very reliable. I have 1900 miles on mine now with nothing more than oil changes(oil change every 10 hours) and air filter changes(clean air filter every ride or two depending on how dusty). I expect to be able to put at least 4000 miles on mine and I will be racing it more next year.
      Now for some bike suggestions. The KLX250 is going to be an awesome bike, but as you said, it is heavier for sure. I would also look at the Yamaha XT250 and they make an older XT225, these will be bikes that have very long service intervals like you are looking for and should be super easy to maintain, in addition to that, their height should be good for your height as well. There is also a very good entry beginner bike from Yamaha called the TW200. This would be for a beginner as it is very mellow and not very fast, but good on the back roads and trails and super super easy to ride. I would encourage you to go to a local dealership that has the bikes mentioned and sit on them all and see how they feel to you! The last bike if you are wanting a Husky would be the FE250, its the lightest of their dual sport lineup and the cheapest as well, you might be able to find a used one. But it still has the same maintenance cycle as its siblings! Hope that helps, let us know if you have any other questions!

    • @MiissSomeone
      @MiissSomeone 5 лет назад

      Thank you very much! It will help me to make a choice :) my boyfriend has a WR250R and it is really high for me so I guess the FE250 will be way too high either ahah. But I know there is possibility to adjust the suspension, well I think, because the dealer at KTM told me that, I guess Husqvarna would be similar. Thank you for the suggestions!
      I want to add the point that one of the principal reason why I would like to ride a light bike is too be more confident with the maniability and "easiness" of control it could bring me than with a heavier bike (I hope you understand what I mean 😂) and I wanna learn technical trails too. That's why it brought me to KTM and Huskys.

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  5 лет назад

      @@MiissSomeone No problem! Yes a light bike will definitely help with maneuvering and tight trails. But a bike that you can touch the ground on better will be much better even if it is a little heavier.

      If you're looking for better service intervals and still want to go to trails, get a wr. 250 or 450. engine is much more reliable than on husky and ktms, but the feel is just so much different. I had wr250r for 2 years and switched to fe350 and the suspension, hydraulic clutch, geometry, overall the bike is so much better on the trail, that it's just worth every penny I paid for it and every penny I will pay for the maintenance.

    Is it better than a Yamaha WR250R is the question

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  2 года назад

      Apples to oranges really. The FE350 is a much higher performance motorcycle with like twice the power. The WR250 is going to be a more friendly bike if you do a lot of road miles, its service intervals are longer as well. The FE350 is a trail machine and is meant to be on the dirt most of the time. It can do road miles, but with short service intervals, it wouldnt be my choice.

    I went from a 94 yZ250 to this bike and it was disappointing. Smooth as glass, quality components, and lightweight but it was boring. No personality, no hit, just a cruise and putt-Putt bike. I already spent $13,200 on it, and am planning another $1,500 for an FMF system and a Vortex CDI, but any other recommendations? I bought my YZ for $1,600 and I am having serious buyers remorse because, while the FE is better, it does not feel $13,500 better than the YZ

    • @OregonDualSport
      @OregonDualSport  4 года назад

      Sorry to hear that, not sure what sort of terrain you are riding with the bike, but it is definitely a woods bike and built for tight singletrack. That said, the mods you will be doing will make a huge difference in the feel of the bike and should add about 10 more HP. Depending on what you ride, regearing the bike could make all the difference for you, try going up a tooth or two in the rear to get more bottom-end torque. - Jaren
