I’m doing the golden book about god I have only one signature therefore I would have to make two other signatures to fit the spine and those two signatures don’t have any golden book pages for it. I hope I explained my dilemma! Whew! I’m a bit frazzled ! I need in total 3 signatures to fill the spine. Can you help ? Please ? !
@@SandraDube-w4k Hi Sandra! You could have the signature with the book pages in the middle then first and third signature with other pages. Like graph paper, coffee dyed, and any old children’s or otherwise magazine ads, etc. Hope that helps! ❤️

Linda Gilliam I think you could extend the book cover near the spine with chipboard and cardstock. I haven't perfected a technique, but I am sure it can be done. Goodluck!
Gayle, I love these so much. I’m trying my hand at a Poky Little Puppy (my fav as a child - had so many baby sitters and family read it to me that I memorized it!) I want to journal for myself all my childhood memories. I’ve started on mine and have a question. Are those decorative pages you use -are they scrapbook paper? The 12x 12 scrapbook papers aren’t long enough to match the size of a LGB signature page. Maybe you use different, larger papers.Help?
Sally Turlington the papers I used in this demo, are 8 1/2 x 11 copy paper which is Kool aid dyed. I used those or 12x12 scrapbook paper...cut down. I fold my LGB pages to fit in the cover and so both the above papers work just fine. Also, it's o-okay to have papers of lots of different sizes within a journal. Good luck with Poky Little Puppy! ❤️
I see what you did. I didn’t want to fold the book pages so I reinforced the original covers by filling in where they originally folded with fabri-fix to fill in the gaps. Then I put chip board over where the gap was so when I put the fabric on the inside cover and outside covers, it extended over the gaps and thin little original boards. That means my pages are original size so scrapbook paper is a little short but I’m ok with that. Thanks.
Dying to make a little batch of these Vintage LGB ones. I love those little golden books, especially the ones with cute animals in them. The Alice in Wonderland ones are gorgeous too. Gayle if the copywrite is after 1950 does that mean You're not allowed to turn it into a Journal? or just that You're not allowed to scan it & re-use the images?
Hi Rebekah! Yes, I think scanning or recopying would be a no no. But using the book as it was doesn't seem to be any different that reselling a Little Golden Book in its original form on Etsy. It's not like you are claiming the writing or illustration as your own or anything. That said, I don't do Disney books to sell as journals just in case! That's just my opinion on it. Hi Sandy! I dye the paper one of two ways...Kool aid or Easter egg dye. Kool aid I use the unsweetened and just mix with water, dip the paper and bake as I do my coffee dyed paper at 295 degrees in the oven. Easter egg dye, I mix up as if I was dying eggs but just dye paper instead. Hope that helps! ❤️
A great tutorial! I have such a hard time taking apart books, lol! I have some LGB from when my kid was little, so I may try this out. Do you know anything about copyright? I won't be selling it if I decide to make one but I was just curious about this. I tried searching online about copyright laws(I guess this varies from state to state) but it was all so very confusing, lol! Anyway tfs! Lori
papercraftingirl I agree copyright laws are confusing. My thought on these...though it's only my thoughts...is that there are people selling Little Golden Books on Etsy. I don't see this as any different. I'm not claiming the Golden Book illustrations or writing as my own. I don't know...the copyright thing is very confusing. Think about all of us using Edith Holden book pages in our journals too. I also feel that most the books I use to make journals out of are one step away from the trash getting them at estate sales and thrift stores. So I'm giving them new life. So there's my thoughts, but certainly no legal experience here. 😄❤️

Hi Nan! Yes, you'd do the same thing for Disney Little Golden books. I haven't done a Disney only because I sell my journals in my Etsy. I've steered clear of Disney as I'm nervous about their copyright. I don't think there would be a problem, but I wouldn't want to take on Disney! Haha! I love Disney! Stacie H if the pages are separated you need to attach them in the middle in order to be able to sew them into the signature. Several ways to put them together are washi tape, paper strip or fabric strip right down the middle. ❤️
