Many years ago, I was doing a "show and tell" session with my class here in England. The student whose turn it was had asked for permission for her grandmother to come and assist her. Together, they demonstrated "sugar craft". I'd never had such a quiet session; the rest of the class and myself were totally enthralled by the demonstration. It was supposed to last twenty minutes, but none of us noticed the bell announcing the start of lessons. Luckily, I had a free period, but the class was late for their lessons as I couldn't get them to leave. Like myself, they had never seen anything like it. There were bunches of flowers so life-like that you could almost smell them. Butterflies looked like they were about to take flight. Cherubs, that you expected to move, held musical instruments that looked as if you could play them. The artistry was stunning, and the student was only twelve years old! Watching this sugar artist at work brought back memories of my student standing in front of a class of thirty students, so confident, and so talented. Her grandmother had taught her but was willing to act as her assistant for this memorable "show and tell"
My daughter does this herself full time. Her creativity sometimes boggles me. I’ve seen everything from Wedding cakes to the movie Cars characters to Star Wars and everything in between for birthday and themed business conventions. Quite the sculptor.
If you want to watch how detailing is made on cakes like this, i recommend you to subscribe to maison olivia. Shes an amazing cake artist, much like a bob ross on pastry. that and youve been deserted, theyre both amazing on their own style
That’s too much work but beautiful! My local grocery store has great cakes so I always just order plain buttercream cake and decorate myself now to save time.
@@__seeker__ no, I tell them. I made a very pretty cake for my cousins baby shower that had real(edible) flowers all over it. I told everyone I got the cake from my local grocery store. They make very yummy cakes.
So rather than the store put decorations on which would definitely save you time you opt to do it yourself which some how saves you time? I don't think so hahaha
@@steaksoymilk3195 my store doesn’t do really fancy decorations and I was trying to do a cake I found online that had real flowers. Even though my grocery store has good cakes they would never do something like that.
I bake cakes, and I can't believe how many of my "friends" try to lowball me, saying it's "just cake". I should send them this video and let them do the math themselves and tell me I'm overcharging again...
I wish bakers would not use fondant - it has the taste of plastic, just horrible. May look beautiful but I care more about taste. Also other decorating could be done that looks good and taste good.

She's an incredibly talented artist on cake decorating art!! 😍👌

She's a freakin legend! A master craftsmen! 🙌
She's an excellent artist in a cook's ware, I'd love just to watch her make different shapes and tastes and giving them her golden touch.
That is the exact stand mixer we've been all over town looking for, it's my Christmas present from my husband
I think you legally have to put quotation marks around the word "edible" when referring to fondant.
Ha! I’ve never had it, but I’ve always wondered if it tastes yummy...now I know.
Fondant is a crime against food and nobody likes it. Nobody. They only use it for decoration.
Isn't it awful? Nobody flavors it so it's like sugary rubbery gum.
@@foxopossum tastes like if PlayDoh was sweet instead of salty.
It’s yummy to me
Very talented chef! Thank you Science Channel for continuing to educated us.
I don't understand, when does she add the plywood, drywall screws, and rice krispy treats like Cakeboss?

Buttercream icing is the worse icing in my opinion lol I dislike it's buttery-ness
“She snips off the base of the hat” Ah, yes, Kosher flowers 😂
“*mommy’s giggling* is that Barney, B.J and baby bop?”
you can’t do that to older kids’ shows especially how it’s made and you cannot call it how it’s made and friends, nope!
These younger things belong to young kids’ shows only

I hate when people put inedible things on cakes, makes it look so cheap.
"First, she makes a little hat out of the gum paste"

Of course the baker is an old woman, who's probably someone's grandmother. I wouldn't have it any other way.
Beautiful cakes but I hate fondant.
🙂
Yummy German chocolate
I hate fondant. I understand why it's useful, but far prefer wedding cakes without it.
And always expensive lol.
Why am I watching this? I'm not married nor do I have a chance at ever being married. I'm just torturing myself at this point.
how much do these cakes cost ??
In the realm of $500. Of course, 99% of that cost is for the artisanry.
am i the only one who actually hates wedding cakes
