FORSTELLA is very versatile. They cover legendary songs of all genres in different styles and languages, always respecting the original. Their Version of "Bohemian Rhapsody"is spectacular. Their "Shape of You" is an extremely successful fusion of diverse styles with rousing vibes. The interpretation of "Je suis malade" is breathtaking pure emotion. How about "Sweet dreams" (Eurythmics) for the rockier part or a little heavier "Lazenka Save Us" (epic Korean rock). For the more classically oriented songs I definitely recommend "Nella fantasia", "In un' altra Vita","Scarborough Fair" or "If I Leave". The harmonies, their voices and vocal ranges are particularly stunning here. FORESTELLA is musical passion in perfection.
The bass, Ko Woorim is a basso profundo.

Ko Woorim is actually a Classically trained singer. The second singer (Kang Hyung-Ho) is a former part time ROCK singer (with no vocal training prior to the show which created Forestella). The third singer is Cho Mingyu who is a Classically trained Tenor. The last singer (Bae Doo-Hoon) was trained in Theatre. Recommend "Je suis malade" to see their tight harmonies and emotion (especially Bae Doo-Hoon). Worth seeing Kang Hyung-How's "Phantom of the Opera" to marvel at his voice with no, or very little vocal training. 😲 To hear Ko WooRim's bass voice listen to "Autumn Leaves" or "Stars" or "The Christmas Song". I'd put "Forestella" prominently at start of your title, as I almost missed this. Also you may need to blur their TV appearances for copyright. 👍
FYI Kang HyungHo was an amateur rocker, had no part-time job as a musician. He was a research chemist in a petrochemical company (it was Samsung BP Chemical sold to Lotte, he was quite elite like getting promoted even during his audition at Phantom Singer 2 which made him debut as Forestella.) He said he participated to quit himself from music regretlessly with the criticism (he thought he would get alot) as he reached 30 y/o (in Korean counting, actually 29).
One of Ko Woo Rim's greatest cover is "A Million Roses", which was on the OST for the drama "My Mister". Amazing! He was only 23 when he sang and recorded it.
@@manaciel we call people who have full time jobs and just "gig" at weekends or evenings... "part time/Amateur/Club singers. My daughter's friend is a full time Primary school teacher, but she also gigs" part time" as a Rock guitarist and backing vocalist, in evenings and weekends. 👍

@@gogglebox2427 BTW Kang HyungHo said he sometimes had a kind of prize-hunting when the band needed a party tho lol. His band won several local band contests with his killer repertoire the Phantom of the Opera. Actually he was digging the song like for 3 years when he auditioned and shocked us with that song. It's a big regret for me he could be viral worldwide if his audition video was released to abroad at that time. (It's still geoblocked and reaching 7M views only from Koreans.)

They were individual competitors on a survival elimination show called "Phantom Singer" whose goal was to create a crossover vocal quartet like II Divo. They compete 1 v. 1, then the survivors move on to recruit for duos, then trios... and finally the Quartet. The guy 2nd from the right (Mingyu) won every round and that gave him the chance to recruit the others. Left to right Woorim - Classically trained Basso Profundo Hyungho - Rock Countertenor (zero training until he joined the group) Mingyu - Leader and Classically trained Leggiero Tenor (he and Woorim went to the same school) Doohoon - Musical Theater Actor, Baritenor They are lightning in a bottle. The show has turned out several great quartets, but none have the widespread appeal of Forestella. They continue to enter competitions, put out albums and even toured N. America last year. They intend to keep performing, but they are a man down for the next year+ as their Bass, Woorim, completes his Mandatory Military service. They have done everything from their original K-pop song, "Kool", to their new rock waltz, "Snow Globe" (which seems to be a fanciful retelling of them coming together as a team). They don't believe in genres and fear no style of song. Outstanding live performances to check out, Lazenca, Save Us (From the Space Rock Opera), Legends Never Die, Hijo de la Luna, Time in a Bottle, Je Suis Malade, Gondre Mandre (Dead Drunk), and Despacito. For an extra treat, check out Kang Hyungho's "Phantom of the Opera" audition (he sings both The Phantom and Christine's parts), or Cho Mingyu's "Balada de la Trompeta".

I’d like to recommend you a new crossover group from South Korea I discovered recently. It’s called “Forténa” with combination of four tenors(I’ve heard it’s the first crossover group with four tenors).
One of the members is a very famous count tenor(His name is DQ Lee and played in lots of operas all over the world).
When I heard their very much first cover song “Neapolis” in a competition program, I had a goosebumps everywhere.
I’m sure you would like it and I’d love to hear your opinion about their singing.

I saw your reaction. But... you seem to have some preconceived notions. The appearance of bass and counter tenors is not fixed, and a group is not necessarily a boy group, but "bass doesn't look like this" Ah...
You say basso profundo is even rarer than just the bass, which is true, but also... this is one. The song may not display it but Ko is a basso profundo. He can as low as he wants. He is the rarest type of bass.
