I get so tired of people saying they don't like a fragrance that's too strong, but then they complain when it's too weak. I'd rather be strong and just don't spray as much.
Facts!
Fr man
Lol another one I love is when people say something is well blended but then complain about something being muddled later on.
I think most ppl would. I’ve not heard anyone complain a perfume is too strong. Show me that idiot and I’ll smack him upside his head…lol
The nerve.
I would actually prefer a bad performance fragrance over a too strong fragrance, as long as it smells pleasant. I ofc enjoy it, to always smell the perfume around me, but I don't want to force others to smell it the whole time.
Polo green has been reformulated many times over the decades. The 70s OG was incredible.
It is an honor for me to be mentioned in a video of yours Omar, keep the great work!
Great video with some great choices in there and I enjoyed it and have a blessed day
This list should be much larger. The whole market has been affected by this. If they have to reformulate for health reasons, that’s fine, although I think it has more to do with saving money, but at least be honest with the customer and put a note on the box that reflects that. By not doing that, they are really ripping people off.
💯💯
Honesty is not a word the fragrance industry even knows exists. Selling out is more what they do, oh and water down and raise prices.
Glad someone agrees with me. I stopped buying cologne a few years ago because of this and I am sure there are many more like me that have done the same. When these companies realize how many millions they are losing. Maybe there will be a change
Totally agree. Many times I've revisited a fragrance and gone, WTF? It could be a classic bait and switch move if there's no regulations on the industry.
@@ChildofGodforevr honesty is not a word any business knows
Hey Omar great video mate, awesome someone finally mentions the original Allure Homme. I remember buying my first bottle of Allure Homme in 2003 and fell in love with it immediately. However back then it wasn't a great performer either unfortunately. It has definitely been reformulated indeed but performance wise to my nose it has always been a bad performer unfortunately :(
It was me that you gave the channel allure too! It smells amazing for about 20 minutes 🤣 I wear it for my own enjoyment but never out as I want something I will be able to smell during the full day
Finally a good video on youtube! Thank you very much!
Cool water is an absolute legend of a fragrance. Brings back memories of the 90s when I was a kid
Hi Omar, I like your content and how you addresse to certain fragrances subjects. We've see " top 10's " of everything reviews need to improve and step up their game. You have a really good Channel. Congrats.
Now as you asked, to me dolce &, Gabbana light blue Intense, I don't know if that's a new badge if it has been reformulated but I don't get the performance nor the hype. Performance it's like crap, I over spray like 17 times and 3h after it's no longer on skin or clothes. Completely gone, my worst buy ever so far.
He out of order for showing that 105 year old man in the park with Polo Green lmao. Polo green vintage is STUNNING - very earthy and gentlemanly. Nothing animalic, pissy, or harsh like most fragrances from that time. Timeless scent.
It was AWESOME...I knew nothing about the reformulation until I bought a bottle recently.....it's horrible now
Ever since he walked out of Harrods with Aventus Man’s been regretting and mentioning it in every video since 😂😂
😂😂😂
It’s literally still fine. Just loss lyral but people love to overhype hate
@@jaredali9668 yeah it really is lol. I have a 2021 batch and it lasts 6-7 hours which is a normal performance for a fresh fragrance , which aventus actually is despite people insisting it being a 12-14h beatsmode frag back in the day which sounds like nonsense to me, because it’s creed and creed has like 1 or 2 strong fragrances.
@@bigboyfinesse8310it really was a beast, I remember using a 2014 batch at school and it did perform for solid 10 hours… most complimented I have ever got from a fragrance.
Drakkar Noir - was a fantastic night out fragrance in the 80 ies 90ies. that new version doesn't have the magic vibes in the dry down. there was a kind of cherry like oriental note in the dry down and it lasted 8 hours in total. the nowadays version is not even close.
Zino - used to be an outlaw, out of the box scent, and it wasn't a typical 80ies scent. it was very polarizing, strong, dusty, dark. the reformulation is a calmed down version, citrussy opening, trying to be as crowd pleasing as possible. either get the vintages of these scents or save your money.
Very nice content Omar, as always. Generally, as a passionate, I am very very disappointed what direction the perfumery has chosen. An absolute nightmare. It becomes disvalued nowadays as a form of art. I am personally a huge fan of Tom Ford perfumery, the reformulations and pricing gives me heartache overall. Jean Paul Gaultier Le Male is a beautiful amber fougere. I own it in my collection and the performance is ok, when u add some additional sprays. It is not a problem for me that todays formulation became more intimate. But it is so painful that such a fragrance was ruined. Generally the situation looks really awful in my opinion.
I have some additional alert. Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa and Terre d'Hermes EDP formulations' colors had been changed from dark green to some weird light pink. It is also the sign of chemical reformulations I guess. Sad, because these formulas are both phenomenal.
What bothers me the most about reformulations is that they lose all power. I wouldn't even mind if a note changes, but they get so weak and watered down.
Completely agree
I cannot agree about the Fahrenheit. True, there was a time when it was gettig more and more watered down. But with the newest batches Fahrenheit is finally back! It's really, really potent and the notes from violet leaf are strong.
This. Tried it on skin recently and it was nice and potent
Bvlgari Aqva Marine used to be my signature with outstanding performance. You could smell it the next day with only 3 sprays. Now if smells completely different and doesn’t last a fraction of the time.
In my personal opinion, this is the best fragrance channel today, at least in Spanish or English speaking
I love Le Male. I get really good performance from my bottle. If I spray it on in the morning I will stoll get whiffs of it in the evening. When I go to the gym or sit in front of the fire place or really starts to radiate off my skin.
I do remember it smelled a lot better when my dad was wearing it way back when
Great video. You are right 100%.
Armani Code dont last no more
Ysl la nuit on me 3hours the 2021 version.
👍👍👍🌈
I love Oud Wood. One of the best I've smelt and I just got it this year.
Mercedes Benz Intense is basically Dior Fahrenheit without the gasoline accord.
And it lasts much longer
LNDL still smells fantastic and if you get a good deal on it you can just overspray to get stronger performance. i picked up a 2020 batch 200ml for 90€ and i spray 15-20 times, lasts 24hrs
Hello Omar.
Is Bvlgari Man in Black still worth buying in 2022?
I recently bought the original Invictus 3.4oz
( I know im late) but I love it. I bought another 6.8oz bottle. I like it more than Hawas. Thankfully the original Invictus still performance good on my skin.
I feel the same with la nuit and allure Homme. I bought both this year, but I love them
@@floriank5675 yup, wear what you like!
This is very specific to me, but I used to wear Joop Go when I was a teenager, and I thought to buy a bottle last year for nostalgia - it has been completely gutted. So watered down, missing so much of its power and sweetness, I was so sad.
@Just J yeah man it was awesome 😂 it's like a cologne now it lasts 1-2 hours, super weak, no projection, different smell. Say what you will about Go!, but my brother wore Joop Homme which was 10x worse.
The fragrance industry and what they’ve been up to is too disgusting. No integrity and quality anymore
This is why you need to seek out and support the new small Niche perfume houses, some of them do amazing work. Much better and higher quality than anything TF has ever put out.
And if u do love anything, buy up back ups before they too sell out to Estée Lauder and have their fragrances ruined. What pisses me off royally is that Tom Ford was at the top of his game, making more money than he could count, he didn’t need to sell out. Yet he did. Greedy slob. And then he allowed Estée Lauder to royally butcher all of his fragrance creations. Despicable. Every new fragrance that has been coming out of Tom Ford since EL took over has been garbage. They can stick that F Fabulous crap up their asses, it’s pure garbage, as is all the rest that they’ve released since. Nothing but mainstream overpriced crap. Shame on Tom Ford. But what can you expect, he’s a shitty greedy selfish person of no integrity. Typical flaming gay man . They all sell out sooner or later.
Well said
Man, it doesn't cost them much to make these. BUT they have to report back to the regulatory organizations, and those organizations are fickle. They constantly ban ingredients
Dior sauvage edt. Waterdowned. Do you recommend savauge edp?
When do you next plan on reviewing subscribers collections? And where do I send the photos to?
I mostly agree with this list, however I smelled a newer bottle of Oud Wood and I got nearly ten hours on my skin, and thought it smelled wonderful. In my opinion Tobacco Vanille is a much worse reformulation
Its rare That somebody actually Gets Good Performance from oud wood, i‘d be so happy haha
Cool water used to smell very different to today, I can smell base note or top note has an inclusion now. I had my first bottle in 1995 and I was 12, it was gifted as I like perfumes. Had davidoff relax, jilsander, coolwater, joop homme and the best one out of all joop nightflight, just a sniff was heaven
Omg nightflight is amazing the love the pineapple in it and that creamy fruity dry down my dad still has over 50 ml in his 120 ml bottle its a batch well and truly before 2015 not sure exactly its macerated very nicely i always love spraying it when i see him i wish it wasnt dicontinued
Will probably steal it 😂😂😂
I feel like 1 million had been re formulated too. I added it to my collection because it was my teenage dumb reach, then I sold it for this reason
Nice video!
A little question here guys, I want to grow my collection further, but I dont really know what I need in it. The ones I have are YSL: bleu electrique, L’Homme and the original Y. Dolce & gabbana The one Edp, Jean Paul gaultier Le male Eau Fraiche, Guerlain L’Homme ideal Cologne, Versace man Eau Fraiche and Versace The Dreamer 2010. Feel free to drop recommendations😃
Eros, allure homme sport, Dior homme sport xx
Best fragrance that have na great reformulation was allure home sport cologne orange fresh summer love it
Thanks for this great video. rasasi hawas is great it’s better than Invictus Aqua. I wore it14 times already
I bought allure Homme this year and I would describe it as mandarin fresh, vanilla, with spices and woods. It still smells really beautiful and unique. On my skin it lasts about 6 hours and it still gets noticed. It might have been better a few years ago. I can't smell any peach for instance. But it's still 100% worth it to give it a try. It's a really pleasant, delicious and clean smelling fragrance with okay performance
Nice
Nautica voyage when I was a young man was a beast mode summer scent
Dior Fahrenheit dupe mercedes Benz intense is a more modern version but still gives you the same sort of vibe
I don’t think the scent changes. The projection is what is drastically changed in my opinion. Fragrances become skin scents very quickly. Good video though
Here’s a house to try: Rogue Perfumery. The guy behind it is a fellow named Manuel Cross. It is a small, independent niche house that does not conform to IFRA regulations when it comes to certain ingredients. This means that they produce original fragrances with the power and ingredients of 30 or 40 years ago but made in a modern style. I think you have to live in the United States or buy it in the United States to get your hands on it. You cannot get it in the UK or the EU. Regulations, you know
he has a etsy shop, which ships to Eu and UK
Again: I don't know why the heck fragrance youtubers still tell that bs about Bleu Electrique bringing something from old La Nuit back. I owned a 2020 batch of La Nuit, and bought Bleu Electrique. The scent is weaker, and the performance is exactly the same, or worse. It blows my mind...
You should try Marbella Nights By Trudi Bleu London, people say it smells like older ysl LNDL at half the price, I haven't tried it myself.
The original Acqua di gio used to be a beast. I went through probably 8 bottles of it from 98-2007 or so. Not sure what year they reformulated it but the current edt is garbage.
picked up Profumo few weeks back. Haven't smelled the old batch but heard that a lot of people don't like the frag after the reformulation.. (I have '22 batch)
@@npetrovic I have all the flankers and the only one I like is Absolute.
NEW EDP must be best option for today
@@trumpameri1638 I have it, don’t like it, too much sage, can’t stand that note. And the performance sucks.
I remember back in 1999 I bought a bottle of Allure Homme, and man, that shit garnered an insane amount of compliments!!! I won’t buy it again since they reformulated it.
So true! I wore it myself. It was beautiful stuff. It was expensive too. Back then, it was like 80 bucks for the big bottle. Most everything else was 50 or $60.
Mancera Wind Wood is very similar to Dior Fahrenhit edt but with a great performance. Lasts 12 hours and projects heavily for 4 hours
Video Idea - Zara men's fragrances dupes comparison
Pierre Bourdon is the man behind the GIT/Cool water DNA. He submitted it to Creed and we got GIT, and to Davidoff and we got Cool water.
What do you think of Versace pour homme?
I find the new ones very low performance
Do you know any good alternative to this..
Missoni Wave
@@SchoolOfScent thanks .. will try that one, also I heard toolbox silver by emper is a close clone
I‘ve got a relatively new bottle and it lasts like 6-7h for me 🤔
@@miklas.k I actually believe VPH performs better than Missoni Wave ..which isn't saying much lol but still
Mercedes Benz Intense, Decent performer and pretty close to Dior Fahrenheit.
for me Narcisio Rodriguez for him is a good alternative to Dior Fahrenheit... anyone?
How about long-lasting office fragrance suitable for all seasons? I just need one.
I just don't get when reviewers say Oud Wood doesn't last...i have the modern version, and it's a beast...! It lasts well over 10 hours on skin, and over a week on clothes...
skin varies a lot from one person to another (to a certain degree at least). Some fragrances last really long on my skin, even when they are considered weak fragrances. La nuit as an example. But then other fragrances which are supposed to have normal longevity, like first instinct, last about an hour and then it's gone. That's why fragrances RUclipsrs should always add, when it's only personal experience
@@floriank5675 my point is, there seems to be a backlash against TF Oud Wood by a awful lot of the fragrance reviewers, yet mine and other's comment to the contrary...!! So...it looks to me like there is some kind of agenda going on...!
That being said, there aren't many true 'independent' reviewers on RUclips these days...! Most will give favourable reviews to fragrances they are 'gifted'....! Hmmmm...!!
Versace Eros EDT and Dylan Blue as well as Jean Paul Ultra Male are so disappointing now in projection and performance since they have been reformulated
I have VDB AND EROS edt poor performance and projection i think its only 50 mins in my skin im very disappointed
Mercedes Benz Intense Mercedes-Benz for men is the replacement of Fahrenheit Dior i guess. please make a review so that we can understand the perfume better
Phew! Coast is clear, Dior Homme. You weren't in this video, good friend.
What's the replacement for Hugo boss bottled original?
Although I enjoy new fragrances, I still wear some old school vintage scents. I have multiple bottles of vintage Equipage by Hermes and bought a recent formulation about a year ago. Not good at all. It has lost all the wonderful sparkling spices and smells flat and boring. I also have multiple bottles of vintage Habit Rouge EDT and wear it all the time. I picked up a new formulation of the EDP about two years ago, wore it twice and never again. It has a strange rubber smell to it, just awful. I'm just thankful the vintage bottles were affordable a few years back on ebay. You can still pick up somewhat reasonably priced HR but the Equipage now is astronomical.
When I was but a wee lad, that green Polo was the shiznitty! I grew tired of it quickly. Do a review of Jaque Bogarts ONE MAN SHOW! I had plenty of compliments and favorable outcomes from that scent. :D
Just FYI nishane hacivat you can get from seescents for I think £179 so is alot cheaper the aventus
Fantastic heads up!
Tumi Continuum is a fall/winter time scent that is a hidden 💎💎…. Give it a try.. highly underrated scent……
Had to edit didn’t realize til now it didn’t make good sense lol
Get CR7 by Cristiano Ronaldo, great JPG le male clone. It smells 98% like it. On my screen it projects about a foot for 4 hours and becomes a skin scent after lasting 8 hours.
Is Hacivat ruined now?
Rasasi Hawas also reformulated and Invictus Legend completely gutted by reformulation.
why do they reformulate the fragances ?
cedrat boise or club de nuit limited edition?
Do you think YSL Kouros still worth it?
Yes if you like challenging Perfumery
@@SchoolOfScent i love Kouros
davidoff does not work for me after an hour it fades away
What about sauvage edp?
Chanel allure homme is still worth it even with its poor performance. The blend and scent is top tier
When I first bought cool water in 1985 -86 it smelled strongly
I rebought like two years ago and smells nothing
Dolce and gabbana pour homme is so watered down
The oakmoss in Hacivat ruins the fragrance
Here before the thumbnail change
Thank god for middle eastern houses that clones some of these reformulated frags with better performance to price ratio..
I think fragrances are often reformulated byt houses who want to try something new and innovate instead of pumpiing out the same thing for years/decades
Sadly Bleu Electrique is discontinued. Luckily, Alexandria Fragrances made a really close La Nuit De L'homme clone to the original
What's the name of it?
Reason one: IFRA finds excuses to reformulate based on the interests of designer conglomerates that seek to continue dominating the market in order to choke out niche and indie.
Reason two: Selling an awesome product initially builds reputation. Following this up with a slightly inferior product at lower cost to manufacture allows for more units generating higher sales.
Those of us who know better will buy original formulations when they first come out. Designer companies have tailored the market to suit their interests regardless.
Parfums de marly house has had some quite substantial reformulations
I havent even watched the video yet, but I will say this... recently I tested le male at 2 different stores and without failure its been reformulated... just not what it used to be and lacks longevity... I also tested normal Davidoff cool water and same scenario... sadly doesn't last long at all
Can u review l’homme timeless
Is it safe to blind buy oud for glory?
If you are rich, yes. If money still matters to you, no
@@floriank5675 its arabian clone of oud for greatness its around 40-50$
I would say yes for how cheap it is
@@SchoolOfScent thanks teacher
Sadly Bleu Electrique is discontinued. Aftermarket prices are insane.
What did cool water used to smell like?
Chilled h2o
@@SchoolOfScent no for real I bought it and I am not too impressed. What did previous formulas have?
hoping there's a women's version of this!
i have a 2020 bottle of ombre leather and i think its not as interesting as older bottles
I noticed that even in 2023 that my most recent bottle of GIT is still super strong and long lasting, seems like the only one that's not been affected as much
Whole line guerlain ideal
Hey what do you think about ADG Profumo reformulation?
2022 Dior Sauvage EDP. Watered down. Very weak
are armaf fragrances any good or not
Depends which one
Armaf are the "creed killers" and i love it!!!
A lot of them are absolutely terrible. Milestone, sillage, and CDNIM are solid tho
@@AntwanFuzznips kraze is a decent PDM pegasus clone too
@@leethebaldguy9390 Try Royale Stallion by Al Haramain..even better smell and performance than Craze. And better performance over Pegasus
Ummm, Spice Bomb Extreme? Probably the most extreme reformulation downgrade in recent history.
Le male lasts quite long for me
what about moschino toy boy thinking about getting it?
Did a dedicated review to it on the channel 😊
@@SchoolOfScent ive seen them i just dont know if it has been reformulated
I’d say try before you buy. It’s a rose-heavy fragrance which make a lot of guys think it’s way too feminine. You gotta have the confidence to pull this off. Btw it’s my signature scent.
@@kevinchy1925 thx brother its on sale rn 👍
Versace Eros EDT, it's not what it used to be
😢
Why u think companies reformulate the ingredients?
Ingredients become too expensive,IFRA regulations,in Creeds case,greed.

You're welcome
Green Irish very expensive.... ARMAF tress nuit best solution
rasasi egra & lattafa ragbha too

I hate the smell of cool water
Davidof dunhill used to be a beast, now it s just a joke
