Hi, just would like to ask, is this plug and play? And if I have a 10mbps and uses a MU-MIMO, with 4 devices, will it be divided to 2.5mbps each? Sorry, noob here. Great video though.
@@NicoAG_ It's technically not divided into each client. Every mu-mimo channel is additional bandwidth of the single channel. So for example your router's speed with a single mimo channel is 10mbps, with 4 mimo channels it would 40mbps. That is of course over simplifying it. Generally 802.11ax routers state their maximum wireless capacity anyways from 1.5gbps to 12gbps.
1A. A router with 8 antennas means 8 antennas will be used for both transmit and receive. 2A. Most clients are either 2x2 or 4x4 but I would imagine this goes higher
It takes lot of efforts to explain using the animation... Such a crisp and clear explanation.. This person deserves more subscribers..please keep posting such useful stuff
@@PowerCertAnimatedVideos I am not a native English speaker , just understand 70% what u have said but with the animation u made, its more clearly than the seller explained to me in my own language.
Your videos helped me get my A+ certificate. I love how you’re able to take a concept and distill it down to the essentials. The animations also help a lot for certain subjects.
What a great video! Short and sweet and straight to the point. Very good explanation and even though it was posted 3 years ago, still very relevant to this date. Congrats!
All I can say is WOW!!! So glad I saw this video. I just started working on upgrading my router/modem/wifi system with al new equipment. I've been seeing all this MU-MIMO, 8 Stream, 12 Stream, Beam Forming, etc and none of it made any sense until I saw this video. Thank you so much for all you do.
This is one of the best videos on this topic. Communication is clear and precise so that even a novice can understand this information. Thank you. I just subscribed. 💯
Another great video! I love how this channel can take something difficult to understand in plain text and just explain in an easy and understandable way.
Picture(s) speaks louder than 1000 words and mixed with proper voice(that is also why radio was popular back then) it creates easy to understand view material.
This is really good explanation... Thank you Sir,you've helped me a lot.... I have hooked 7 IP cams,4 TV's 5 computers and 3 cell phones to my WiFi... The speeds were terrible and now I know where's the failure... Prehistoric modem/router...
you always make me understand much better about networking, I love networking but when I watch your videos, they help me to understand it much deeper. thank you we need more and more videos, could you explain about layers one day. thanks
Great video! Easy to follow and easy to understand. My only beef is the strobing effect used. But, I am highly light sensitive, I would still recommend this video for anyone trying to understand MIMO.
Excellent presentation!! The videos on this channel are super! Difficult concepts are presented in such a nice and easy-to-digest form. I only wish universities would hire people such as a presenter instead of hiring professors that cannt speak, write or are so famous they only care about grants/papers/recognition and not the students' education.
Dude, amazing breakdown on MU-MIMO, im having to study wireless for work and Network Engineering career, but the books tend to use terminology thats just overwhelms the reader. Great breakdown.
Wow...🤩 What a wonderful video I am planning to buy a new router but little bit confused about this MU MIMO technology BUT now it is sorted out. Thanks a lot ❤️
That's a really great explanation. I especially love the comparison between the flashlight and the lantern. I am definitely stealing that for my class. LOL
I was sharing the wifi with my mu-mimo router 8 antenna 5300ac i think. It was working like a charm. I even see 53 device all connect at the same time. Can guaranty all the device was downloading but at least 25-30 were active. The wifi didnt even flinch.( with airtime fairness active) and everyone was happy
Very clear. Last year i worked very hard to understand the state of Wifi and how to get a good system. Sadly, just recently a 2.4 Wyze webcam just refused to connect. I have a Netgear 1900AC combo. Probably having just two antennas is the problem.
Hello there! Congrats for your channel and generally all the effort and dedication that you are showing on IT concepts Sir. I've been following you for the last 3 years I believe and you have been very helpful so far. Just one quick question... Does MU-MIMO in Wi-Fi 6 still affects download and not upload or it is another fundamental difference between Wi-Fi 5 ? Thanks in advance! Keep it up! Kind regards, George
Great video, just a minor correction 3:44 in 2x2 the first number is the number of transmit antennas while the second number refers to the number of receive antennas. Streams are sometimes indicated after a colon as 2x2:2.

Two questions please.
1. If a mu-mimo router has 8 antennas, do 4 send data and 4 receive data?
2. How many streams do client devices use?
Thank you.
1A. A router with 8 antennas means 8 antennas will be used for both transmit and receive.
2A. Most clients are either 2x2 or 4x4 but I would imagine this goes higher
