The Early Church was united around common beliefs and common burdens-the belief in Jesus as Lord and Savior, and the burden of being persecuted by those who opposed them. Jews in the first century who believed in Jesus as Lord and Savior were killed at worst and cancelled at best. As a result of facing such real persecution, the Early Church pooled their resources and shared them with each other as needed. It was not socialism, it was survivalism. In addition, when God struck down Ananias and Sapphira for their deception, the Early Church learned quickly that “the Church pure is the Church powerful” (as G. Campbell Morgan once said). They developed a healthy “fear of the Lord” and walked in holiness before God. The Early Church serves as good examples for the Church today.
    00:00 - Introduction
10:56 - Lessons from the Early Church
11:00 - 1) The Early Church was not practicing Socialism; they were practicing SURVIVALISM. Socialism is not taught in the Bible; hard work is.
22:33 - 2) The Early Church was not mandated by the law to give, they were motivated by the heart
26:36 - 3) The Early Church had to learn that “the Church PURE is the Church POWERFUL” (G. Campbell Morgan)
28:56 - 4) The Early Church walked in the “fear of the Lord”

Socialism is already being practiced in our country. They are just trying to hide it. It’s practiced in the form of penalties and fees and taxes that show up in all our bills.

Pastor Gary, I love hearing your teachings of the bible. Clarifying and making sense for me, has been a blessing. I just want to share something I learned, years ago, and that is "fear is a form of respect". Again, thank you, I love your teachings and look forward to many more

That part about Sephira was hilarious. But that wasn't half as funny as the electric fence.

Don’t forget about Apostolic Succession that was established in Acts 1, and the validity of Church Councils established in Acts 15.

This explains the adult children living in their parents basements...just living off the wealth distributed to them by their parents who never made their children get off their privilege and work.

I love when someone reads a passage from the Bible and says, it doesn't say what it says... You can't talk about socialism today when that was not their context. They literally sold everything and laid it at the feet of Peter. Peter took them into a tent by themselves and told them they did the right thing of selling the property but cornered them into admitting a lie and upon Peter's word they died. He brings Sepphira into the room by herself and is sick enough to tell her he killed her husband and she is next... he walks her into telling the lie... and poof, she dies. And based on this tactic multitudes are convinced of the very thing these passages describe: the selling of all their possessions and living together in one heart and one mind and caring for those as needed, not a single believer feeling that they own anything. Never have so many verses been so clear that today's people will look back and say "Nah.... 😅" Remember Jesus himself said to the young man who has followed all of the rules that the only thing the young man must do next is to SELL EVERYTHING AND FOLLOW ME in order to enter the kingdom. (Matthew 19:21) That can't be more clear. 😂 The scriptures say it is a narrow way to get into heaven and money is a big deal and spoken of constantly in Acts and discussed and told by Jesus in many parables and historical events that those who give ALL are righteous and those who do not give all will not see the kingdom.

In chapter 5 Rabban Gamaliel said if the Jesus movement or Netzarim in Hebrew came to nothing it was not from the Lord. Reputable sources inform me the actual historical followers of Yeshua were called Netzarim and they officially ended in 135 ce. This would seem to prove Rabban Gamaliel right in predicting he wouldn't be Messiah.
