    Your tps controls the shifting also..... an old tps will cause poor shifting.. mine was doing the same thing replaced tps fix my issue but I do have a hesitation sometimes when shifting into 3rd going to do the same as you and replace the low pressure valve

    Fair video, would be tons better by using a tripod and orienting the camera in landscape, that way it can be seen removing old parts and reinstalling new parts, and how that is done,

    I was curious why you didn't do the common J-Mod, remove the lower springs in the 1-2 and 2-3 accumulators,upgrade the pistons to molded pistons, drill the separator plate and that's it. I'm about to
    do it in my '97 Tbird.

      @@frankmorgan5234 I actually did do the jmod first. It still wouldn’t keep up with the shifts I needed sadly, I went this route, then eventually manual valvebody.

    Dang by the color of that fluid I’m betting the clutches were toasted

      Actually may have been lol.. I went manual valvebody, lasted a good while made a few great pills for a year or so, then lost 3rd and reverse. Starting the 5 speed swap, I miss rowing gears lol.

    is the 1-2 shift better after adjusting shift points? I am having the same problem

      Sadly only a little amount.. I actually have decided to go with the trans-go hd3 manual shift kit. This way I will just shift and control it manually, I can adjust the shift points in the tuning software but it’s either very close and once a small incremental change is made it shifts 800rpm too soon at wot… so tuning the trans is a black art that I obviously don’t possess lol.. so manual shifting it will be. But I will say, the shift kit helped a ton! Just still not enough.

      @Coyote I had done the J-mod before in my other car. It worked great, but the trans in that case let go as well as this one has too. I’ve come to the common denominator that I’m very hard on these cars lol.. went manual VB, had fun… now swapping a 5 speed into the car because I want to enjoy rowing gears again.. but I truly do appreciate the info!

    doesnt using the stock auto shifter manually do the same thing as a manual valvebody? im confused

    • @forcefedhatch
      @forcefedhatch  2 года назад +3

      No, the stock auto shifter the computer controls. Even when you shift manually the shift solenoids have that signal pulse delay. With a manual valvebody it shifts under your command, and line pressures are vacuum controlled instead of electronically controlled. That way your shifts are made when you want, and not when the computers strategy lets you.
