This version IS the original one, but the speed is wrong because the audio track was converted with the wrong sample rate. You can fix the problem when you isolate the mp3 from the video, open it with a software like Audacity and change the sample rate to 48000 Hz. Then you get the exact speed of the original recording which was used to make the video.
What a crying, bloody shame. A Simon Dupree & The Big Sound beauty being played here PAINFULLY SLOW. At it's best and played at the right speed it's an even better record I think than "Kites" (and that's saying something). Just nowhere near as big a hit. This SLOW MISTAKE doesn't do this lovely classic "For Whom The Bell Tolls" any justice at all. Any chance of a re-upload SOMEONE PLEASE to the proper speed, so as not to ruin the song any longer for goodness sake? There's not so far, a decent version on You Tube as yet from what I can see. So even more important to have one if anyone can oblige? The CD version is fine at the correct speed or the original single will do just as well. Sadly I don't have the where-with-all to do it myself.
As a big Metallica fan, Gentle Giant fan, and fan of the movie with Gary Cooper....I approve....
Don't forget Hemingway.
@@mikereiss4216 LOL! I should've mentioned Hemingway before Cooper.
A classic - I love the darling birds chirping away wrapped in rgeir wings of freedom
🕊
It's said they hated Kites. This was the minor hit follow up
Portsmouth based Shulman brothers. Mainly soul before Gentle Giant

I have always loved this song and have just bought a mint copy from Ebay for £7
SO GOOD!
This is not the 7" single version the original record version is bit faster,If my memory serves me well this is a version that was put on the cd.
They were were known for Kites. But they had more in the locker than people knw.
To the 'Slow' commentators: Go into 'Settings', set playback speed to x1.25 ...
Thank you, C. Stay free. Rab 🌠 ⏳ 👋

I am sure this is the right speed for this record, not as released
The station in the photo above looks like Clifton Down in Bristol.
This is played at 33rpm instead of 45
Yes, you're right, the original version is faster.
I have this single and its definitely faster than this recording!
Definitely to slow.
@@northstar1950 something wrong with his turntable speed.
TOOO SLOW !!
It's meant to be a bit faster than the speed you've got here. 45rpm if I'm not mistaken
🤔

This is not a very accurate metallica cover...
