It got hate mostly from pre-existing fans of AvP comics, games, etc. Mostly they were set in the future of the Alien movies while the AvP movie used (then) a modern setting. Predator 2 is undoubtedly my favorite for the gritty atmosphere of Los Angeles and the expansion of the lore. The style and camera work is also a huge plus as well, with so many memorable shots and action scenes that are just pure 90's awesomeness. And the characters in my opinion are actually great and well defined in the film rather than being victims for the Predator slaughter, and I felt bad when one of them died i.e. Danny and Jerry.
The fight between Prey's Predator and Taabe (the brother) slightly infuriated me. Not because it was bad, but because over an hour into the movie the director suddenly seemed to realize the Commanche were noted horse-riders. Even by the early 1700's a troop of Commanche warriors going out on foot would be a bizarre sight.

There is so much potential for AvP.....Predators use Xenomorphs as a way of defining their ranks....would love to see a Yautja take on an Alien infested planet, or a movie with the clan that uses Xenomorphs as trained dogs. List is accurate.
Here is my personal Ranking of the Predator Franchise: 1. Predator (1987) 2. Predator 2 (1990) 3. Prey (2022) 4. Predators (2010) 5. Alien vs Predator (2004) 6. The Predator (2018) 7. Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007)
My opinion. Predator 2 is almost as important as the first predator. 1. First time a predator is hunted by a human. 2. The train scene is hailed as a perfect scene for horror. 3. Establishes way more lore 4. Was, at the time, set in a distant future of LA. 5. The predator ship was beyond epic 6. The pistol 7. Alien skull (hype for decades) 8. The cast was pretty star studded just as much as the first. Yeah Arnold shines brighter but that cast was amazing. 9. The level of gore that we saw with the predator was on a totally different level than the first one. 10. All the other predators.
I honestly found THE PREDATOR to be exactly what you said it was, but in a strange way that's why I enjoyed it. It botched the canon and made no sense, but I just really liked the loonies too much. They reminded me a bit of the more problematic but fun side of my military buddies and watching them fight this monster with that dark sense of humor just kept me smiling. I'd probably put it at my number 5. you have inspired me to go give PREDATORS a rewatch though, haven't seen it since theatres, I,m less of a pretentious asshole now and probably wont obsess over plotholes .
"Predators" from 2010 is homestly one of my favorite predator movies in the franchise. I feel like the characters, lore, and pacing were all extremely well done. There wasnt any point where things slow down for the characters to talk/plan and it feels dull. It felt like it was constantly pushing forward in a good way. I do understand the final fight did seem to come out of nowhere and wasnt really hinted at or planned out. And yeah I did really like Royces character and think Adrian Brody did a great job as coming off as a special forces soldier. Not being bulked out but smart and fast. So im happy with its placement at number 2
Hats off to accepting nostalgia goggles. We all have nostalgic biases and there’s nothing wrong with accepting that. I respect this. But prey has gotta be number 2 for me. That movie really deserved to be in theaters. The Preydator as I call him, why yes I am a fucking genius, is a real beaut design wise
These are not nostalgic googles. Prey is an absolutely stupid movie and I don't understand how it is overrated. Predator 1987 is a completely different level, completely different sport. It's a masterpiece, from Alan Silvestri's terrible nervous music to the great camera, which is no longer seen at all today, to the intelligent predator and not the moron he was in Prey. An Indian woman with a Tomahawk on a rope and the dumbest final fights I've ever seen. Only stupid people can enjoy such a stupid spectacle. Yes, turn off your brain, so you can use it as well, but the high rating it has is already unacceptable. The taste of today's viewer is truly terrible, and thank god for people like this in this video.
@@patrikhelis8235 hey to each his own, man. We can all like different things. You getting this worked up over a movie about an alien in fishnets might prove that maybe I’m not the stupid one 😉
Predator 2 is so underrated, after watching the first one I was left with more questions about this alien hunter. Then I watched the 2nd one and has my favorite ending of the franchise.
Adrian Brody is the MAN in Predators. But the Fishburn plot lowers it to #4 for me. 1) Predator (top 5 all time action film. Plus, my name is Dylan, so sets up amazing introductions from the right people) 2) Prey 3) Predator 2 4) Predators 5) AvP
I couldn’t agree more having Predators ranked #2. Great concept, it establishes some characters you actually care about. It also has one of the funniest lines ever from Walter Goggins character, which I will not repeat but you know what I mean. 😂🤣
I don't know if I recall correctly but I think in the Prey trailer they said it was gonna be the Predator's first hunt on Earth and I was wondering if people don't want to count AVP as canon because if they did then the Predator's first hunt would have been before Prey.
Agree with the list 💯 percent. Also yes Adrian Brody was great and please make an aliens vs predator movie in aliens time line and bring back the colonial Marines!!🔥🔥
wow, I clicked on this because I was sure your list would differ from mine --- but you NAILED IT! And Prey is exactly where it should be: right in the middle, not a great or even particularly good part of the franchise. Predators is way underrated, and it sits right where it should be in this list.
My ratings 1.Predator 2.Predator 2 3.Prey 4.Predators 5.AVP 6.AVP 2 7.The Predator I like more than the last one AVP 2 for the violence, dark tone, and I love Wolf.
Others have said it in the comment section, but I'm glad that you acknowledge personal bias in rankings. I feel like not enough people do that. I would personally put Predator 2 at the top of my list, knowing full well that it's objectively not as good a movie but I would choose to watch it over any other Predator movie in the franchise.
Holy shit, I'm surprised you put Predators in 2nd because not many people feel that good about it. I 100% agree with that, that's exactly where it is for me. Actually your list mostly matches with mine except that Predator 2 and Prey is swapped
Its nice to hear you talking positive about someone’s effort despite how much they worked hard for it and had to haggle with the producers for your own benefit.
First time I watched predator I was already a fan of the predators from AvP but I had no idea it was THE predator and I remember nearly losing it when I saw that heat vision scene at the start
Great list. I didn't think you had the guts to put PREDATORS that high since alot of people hate it, but i thought it had the best sequel premise of them all... Hope at some point we can revisit that planet with a new cast but this time Royce and Isabelle have all the gear and better defense vs predators
I have never really bought any of the more "popular" criticism of Predators. Sure, it was marketed poorly, but most movies were marketed poorly back then. (They gavel away the biggest twist in Terminator; Salvation that same season) But, Predator starts off the strongest, since the first one, with the main characters being introduced by watching them waking up in free fall. To the amazing idea of the Game Preserve Planet, it's up in the top 3, for me, still. 👍
the best thing about Predator is, it kicks ass for a full half hour and you forget it's meant to be sci-fi, as the trailer implied --- then it kicks BIGGER ass!
Ngl I loved prey. I’ve seen all the movies a while ago and re binged all them before prey. But prey is my third favorite behind predator and avp. The rest are ok. The worst was avp requim imo.
I really don't think I can understand putting Prey below Predator 2. I respect the choice to put Predators above both (I'm undecided on Predators vs. Prey myself), but Predator 2? Great ideas to come out of it, but I wouldn't want to sit down and watch it, like, ever.
I’m sorry all those people claiming prey is the best movie are just wrong. Where in prey does somebody claim to be a sexual tyrannosaurus? I rest my case.
From the worst to the best, for me they would go like: 1. The predator (WORST of all) 2. Alien vs predator 3. Alien vs predator 2 4. Predators 5. Predator 2 6. Prey 7. Predator To be honest I like most of them. I have a hard time with The predator but the rest are fair fun for me. Even those that I don't consider that good.
Ive commented before, but for this one i must admit, ive always loved arnold in this. Im about as obsessed with his filmography...but this role was so epic. He was great as a teminator, but in this role he could be human.
When Star Wars put that in every one it wasn’t for nostalgia baiting, it was already a running gag. I hate the current trend of putting the lines in to please memes and the internet
I find it fascinating how many people love predator 2 for the lore. I think I saw it once, memorised the lore and never watched it again as I thought it was dull compared to two first one and I never feel like watching two predator movies back to back so I always watch the first one. Now prey is my favourite but there you go.
In Sixth Form, film studies, we had to make a poster representing the work of “A Real Hollywood Star” - The teacher laughed, but I picked Arnie! Shout out to the big man!
AvP r was my first rated r movie after a few wrestling matches around 7th or 8th grade and while it’s a bad movie I’d take it over the predator any day. It was generic and poorly shot but it’ll always hold a soft spot in my heart. That sewer scene was enjoyable. It just would have been better if it was set in the future. The predator seemed like such a missed opportunity with that great cast and crew.
There's a great Predator comic where they're on Earth during the Norse period. I think that could be a good option for adaptation since it's already developed so they'd just have to build upon that. Also it'd be in a locale we've never seen before.
I more or less really agree with the video! Maybe it's because I was born in 1983, but I have a real appreciation for practical effects. I rather liked Prey's blend of practical and CG, I think anyone's hopes for a purely practically done Predator movie....you can let that go. I would prefer it too but I don't see any exec signing off on any such movie without CG unfortunately.
Yeah, I'm not sure Shane Black was to blame for The Predator's failings, as the charm of his other movies you've mentioned was nowhere to be found. It probably was indeed a studio butcher job, but at the same time I can't really tell what would've been salvaged if Black had finished the project on his own terms, since there are very few redeeming factors to be found in the finished product. But regarding your ranking of Prey: I think you should've given it a bit more time before making this video, as I'm pretty sure it's better than Predators, and on-par with Predator 2 - for completely different reasons. Predator 2 is schlocky fun, but doesn't add a lot of personality to the hunter, while Prey has loads of personality, and harkens back to the lore established in Predator 2, regarding history. Predators, for as far as I can tell, hasn't any specific personality at all, and while the idea of making a standalone picture is interesting, it's not developed to its full potential at all.
The predator killer suit could be military predator gear. Did you ever play avp: extinctions? The military rank predators (not hunters) had basically power armor. I don’t like it but I’m just tying it to something maybe
An applause to you sir for sticking to your opinion, for me personally prey is ok decent, would like it to spin more predator v samurai/viking movies, but the critic consensus was way off trying to put it on 1 & 2 level, i did not expect predators to take number 2 but i can understand why, but for me predator 2 is flawed in a awesome way while predators is more competent but not as exciting, the original predator is just lighting in a bottle, and even the best sequel is just playing catch up.
This is the first time I heard that story about Jesse The Body Ventura and Arnold Schwarzenegger. That s*** is so f****** funny. That is Arnold at his absolute best. Jesse must have felt so small when he found out what really happened.
The best thing about Shane Blacks version is that in her real life future, Olivia Munn got the funniest man (John Mulaney) on earth as a partner. Lucky gal!
I literally can't be mad at this ranking in the slightest cause mine is almost the exact same. Just flip AvP:R and The Predator(2018) and this is my exact ranking for the franchise
1. I never understood why Predator 2 got so much hate. Is it a very barebones movie from a story and character standpoint? Absolutely. But you can't deny that the movie does just about everything else really well. It didn't just do the first movie all over again. It actually switched up the formula by having the Predator be treated more like a serial killer then a hunter and the mystery of which the main characters had to slowly piece together, which was kind of a cool way to go about it. The kills were badass, it expanded the lore and helped jumpstart the mythos beyond the first movie, the action and effects are all practical which help this movie stand the test of time. 2. Predators on the other hand I could understand. It was an alright movie overall , with probably the coolest premise. But the sheer amount of missed potential is what I think pissed most people off at the time. Thankfully tho, in recent years the movie has gotten a bit more love in retrospect for how much it respected the franchise and tried to do its own thing while only TECHNICALLY doing the first move again. I mean, what other movie in the franchise can boast a samurai style fight between a Predator and a hardened Yakuza. 3. Some things are obvious cause they're true. Predator (1984) is a godd*mn masterpiece. Its lightning in a bottle that only became possible due to everything aligning just right. The casting was perfect, the effects were mostly practical and the cgi effects were sparingly but in a way to where they still work, the atmosphere and the characters are so enthralling you forget 1/3 od the movie is just people talking and staring at trees. And the one liners. GOOD LORD THE ONE LINERS!
You call predator 2 an "incredibly flawed movie" but will undoubtedly overlook the numerous reasons the first film could be labeled the same Such as: The cheesy dialog The nonsensical use of gear(like Blaine carrying a minigun or everyone wearing a different uniform) A random Austrian bodybuilder leading a random group of overly macho men and stereotypes Dutch plot armor Poorly cut together final showdown Etc etc
In a tier list, I would put Predators and Prey on the same level. Predators in front and Prey on the end as both films add sub-species similar to Neanderthal and man. The Prey artist commented that this sub-species comes from a desert biodome hence its mouth was altered for bone crushing. I like to think that the "supers" are actually from a swamp or amphibious biodome because their mandibles are so lengthy that their face takes on an octopus grip. I put AvP on the tier below Prey and Predators. Requiem and The Predator of course at rock bottom with Predator and Predator 2 at the very top. Something people miss about predator 2 is it adds body types to the predator species similar to how humans come in mesomorphs, ectomorphs, and endomorphs. City Hunter is a different body type than Jungle Hunter both being the same sub-species.

I don't think it's underrated at all myself. I've seen nothing but love for it but not without addressing its problems.
Predators is my personal fav Predator film. I think the twist about Topher Grace's character is great and I think the premise is super intelligent.
Adrian Brody is the MAN in Predators. But the Fishburn plot lowers it to #4 for me.
1) Predator (top 5 all time action film. Plus, my name is Dylan, so sets up amazing introductions from the right people)
2) Prey
3) Predator 2
4) Predators
5) AvP
I couldn’t agree more having Predators ranked #2. Great concept, it establishes some characters you actually care about. It also has one of the funniest lines ever from Walter Goggins character, which I will not repeat but you know what I mean. 😂🤣
I don't know if I recall correctly but I think in the Prey trailer they said it was gonna be the Predator's first hunt on Earth and I was wondering if people don't want to count AVP as canon because if they did then the Predator's first hunt would have been before Prey.
I love Predators, the concept was so unique
Most underrated predator film of all time
Agree with the list 💯 percent.
Idk where I’d put predator 2 and Prey but they’re in my top 3, Predator I think will always be the undisputed best movie in the franchise
My ratings
1.Predator
2.Predator 2
3.Prey
4.Predators
5.AVP
6.AVP 2
7.The Predator
I like more than the last one AVP 2 for the violence, dark tone, and I love Wolf.
Than kyou
Dude I’m with you almost entirely on ‘Predators’!
My favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger quote is "I'm coming on da weights AUGHHhhhh"
Great vid, very honest and with great points. Great work. Very appreciated
Thank you!
The rank is
1. Prey
2. Predators
3. Predator
4. AVP
5. AVPR
6. Predator 2
7. The Predator
Predator third? Hahahaah
I have never really bought any of the more "popular" criticism of Predators.
Sure, it was marketed poorly, but most movies were marketed poorly back then. (They gavel away the biggest twist in Terminator; Salvation that same season)
But, Predator starts off the strongest, since the first one, with the main characters being introduced by watching them waking up in free fall. To the amazing idea of the Game Preserve Planet, it's up in the top 3, for me, still. 👍
the best thing about Predator is, it kicks ass for a full half hour and you forget it's meant to be sci-fi, as the trailer implied --- then it kicks BIGGER ass!
I thought prey was a close second to the original predator
Ngl I loved prey. I’ve seen all the movies a while ago and re binged all them before prey. But prey is my third favorite behind predator and avp. The rest are ok. The worst was avp requim imo.
Man if you would have put pred 2 in 2nd i would have 100% agreed! Great rank bro!
I really don't think I can understand putting Prey below Predator 2. I respect the choice to put Predators above both (I'm undecided on Predators vs. Prey myself), but Predator 2? Great ideas to come out of it, but I wouldn't want to sit down and watch it, like, ever.
Prey is so mid
@@stephensnyder5596 no it isn't. Still better than Predator 2.
I’m sorry all those people claiming prey is the best movie are just wrong. Where in prey does somebody claim to be a sexual tyrannosaurus? I rest my case.
A fine point
From the worst to the best, for me they would go like:
1. The predator (WORST of all)
2. Alien vs predator
3. Alien vs predator 2
4. Predators
5. Predator 2
6. Prey
7. Predator
To be honest I like most of them.
If it bleeds we can kill it.” Is a great call back line
It’s like “I have a bad feeling about this” from starwars
When Star Wars put that in every one it wasn’t for nostalgia baiting, it was already a running gag. I hate the current trend of putting the lines in to please memes and the internet
@@FullFatVideos mhhh gonna have to disagree.
I find it fascinating how many people love predator 2 for the lore. I think I saw it once, memorised the lore and never watched it again as I thought it was dull compared to two first one and I never feel like watching two predator movies back to back so I always watch the first one.
Now prey is my favourite but there you go.
Prey might be tied or slightly below the OG Predator to me, loved it. The Predator and AVPR are not to be spoken of...
☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
In Sixth Form, film studies, we had to make a poster representing the work of “A Real Hollywood Star” - The teacher laughed, but I picked Arnie!
Shout out to the big man!
Saying Pred 1 and 2 are any lower than 1 or 2 is someone who thinks Terminator 2 doesn't belong in top 2.
I liked when the one guy shouted "Get to the choppas" and the warband ran and picked up their axes.
Valid ranking, I loved predators when it came out
What was your opinion of the super predators?
You count it? Wow most just ignored it!
This is strangely exactly my list
I watched the first predator movie so many freaking times that I can't watch it anymore because of burnout lmao. Absolute masterpiece.
An absolute classic
100% with you on your statement of
AvP Universe > any other Universe
1. Predator
2. Predator 2
3. Predators
4. AvP
5. AvPR
6. Prey
7. The Predator
There's a great Predator comic where they're on Earth during the Norse period. I think that could be a good option for adaptation since it's already developed so they'd just have to build upon that. Also it'd be in a locale we've never seen before.
Would love to see them revisit the concept of AVP again
I loved The Predator, but when I watched it I didn’t know that it was not a comedy.
I'm in your boat, I watched it as a comedy and had a pretty good time with it
As a predator fan I loved your video!👍👍
Thank you!!!
Putting prey at #4 is criminal
I more or less really agree with the video! Maybe it's because I was born in 1983, but I have a real appreciation for practical effects. I rather liked Prey's blend of practical and CG, I think anyone's hopes for a purely practically done Predator movie....you can let that go. I would prefer it too but I don't see any exec signing off on any such movie without CG unfortunately.
The reason Cameron said AvP was his third favourite Predator film, is because AvP was the THIRD Predator film meaning it's his least favourite
Predator 2
Predator
Prey
Predators
Alien Vs Predator
The Predator
Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem
Good list. Prey is where it belongs. Although I'd put Predator 2 over Predators but nothing touches the first film, period
My rankings:
1 - Predator
2 - Predator 2
3 - Prey
4 - Predators
5 - AvP
6 - AvP: Requiem
7 - The Predator
Love seeing a long runtime ranking video! Great work.
My list:
The Predator
AvP 2
AvP
Predator 2
Predators
Predator
Prey
Decent list!
Videos since Full Fat has mentioned the MCU in a non MCU related video: O
love ya man for real but like the MCU jab came out of nowhere haha
I agree with your list, Predators is so dope 2 me
Really enjoyed this. I'm an old fuck and grew up on this and great nostalgia at the end.
I agree throw the first one is the masterpiece!
The predator killer suit could be military predator gear. Did you ever play avp: extinctions? The military rank predators (not hunters) had basically power armor.
I don’t like it but I’m just tying it to something maybe
I like how the chapters completely spoil the order
People complain when you dont chapter the rankings lol
I hated how The Predator blew Mac’s head up, then next scene it’s in 1 piece.
I do quite love alien covenant I won’t lie
For me it’s Predator at number 1, Prey at 2 and Predators at 3. I enjoyed AVP, but Predator 2, AVPR and The Predator are just plain shit in my opinion
👏🏾 we have the same list order 👏🏾 That top 3 is great!
Right on
I would say the reason the predators dont use the "predator killer" suit is because they have an honour code whereas humans clearly don't
CIA got you pushing too many pencils. PURE CLASS. 👽
1. Predator A+
2. Prey A-
3. Predators B+
4. Alien vs Predator B
5. Predator 2 B
6. The Predator D+
7. Alien vs Predator 2 Requiem F
Video starts at 4:25
……..really?? It took you 4:25 -_-
You call predator 2 an "incredibly flawed movie" but will undoubtedly overlook the numerous reasons the first film could be labeled the same
Such as:
The cheesy dialog
The nonsensical use of gear(like Blaine carrying a minigun or everyone wearing a different uniform)
A random Austrian bodybuilder leading a random group of overly macho men and stereotypes
Dutch plot armor
Poorly cut together final showdown
Etc etc
