yes, I built that thing as one of the devs asked for hulls. Though next patch, it will get updated with the new block shapes.

Did you choose the colors? Cause not sure if you were going for Yamato colors, but definitely same for Space Battleship Yamato
@@shawdawg3675 the upper color is unpainted, the lower is color slot 1, which by default is a red. The red section is supposed to indicate where the waterline should be

What you DONT know Lathrix, is just how much we appreciate you making hulls on camera. Seeing how you make your decks YOURS, and how you do turret armour, and internal systems, really helps, as I sometimes like to throw in your style bit by bit. Keep working on it man! Ever since long before your neter many a year ago I've been watching your style grow, and it is still amazing to see, enjoy and stay safe.
this is so great I never learned how to make hulls now I will finnaly be able play the game
Thia is super easy , just check one tutorial about hull rounding and then after making like basic v hull you can make it more bulky
You can also design your hull around the guns like i preffer
And layer armor as well round hull
You could use prefabs, but absolutely I would recommend you keep practicing and using tutorials on the side.

I ALSO have the worst time in the world making hulls. Despite tutorials. Everything is basically just a giant wedge with no idea how to do the bottom or backside. Making things move with anything resembling speed is practically impossible for me.Same issue with aircraft as well. Can't figure out the CoM/CoL which is silly because I never have an issue with such in Kerbal Space Program, but just enter literal hell in FTD.

Next you should try to build a patrol boat spamming the 60 mm grenade launchers.
I've found them to be quite effective when used in great numbers, especially with HESH shells.

This sounds like something I'd do, just significantly worse since I'm bad and i can barely get something to fly...
On the bright side, my best craft will fly in such a way after being hit on the wing where it's impossible to hit, thus allowing it to repair
Julian Chow I recommend making thruster craft to start off with, simple, versatile, but rather power ineffecient
i am learning how to make flying ships at the moment (just for the marauder)

@@BoulderInTime I've tried that, but I'm afraid to say that my flyer is better than my best thruster craft. It's the survivability of it that makes it good. I'm sure my plane could be easily retrofitted to be a thruster craft, but the thing is, once a wing has been damaged, it's impossible to hit and then repairs itself.
Just need to improve its cannons and accuracy. Made it for the beginning Ashes of the Empire and is a decent support craft
Good idea that I didn't realise was easy to do until the other week: You can make a turret, place it, make a prefab of the cap, then cut the cap off, increase the height of the "neck" using some kind of connector (you can just use gauge pieces for APS or connectors for crams) and then just place the prefab (that you don't even need to permanently save) on top of the extension. This way you can have a cannon that can be added to lots of different kinds of hulls and you can always keep all of the juicy, vulnerable bits low down in the hull

@@tommeakin1732 i've always done my turrets like that thinking everyone else did it too. it makes 'citadel armoring' very easy to do.
@@mhedansantos3519 It was one of those things that I was embarrassed to not have realised myself as it seems so obvious now - but it seems like a lot of people don't realise either. I just didn't think you could decapitate a turret and then use the prefab tool to add a new head and your turret would still work fine! It's a big deal for me because I'd often find myself building new turrets a lot, or just building hulls of the same height because I wanted to make proper use of space and put the vitals low in the ship

Colin Magee crams cant really do that, even when you have a 2000mm fully he packed crams they arent really able to oneshot things above 1k blocks

I vaguely recognize the hull shape as one from either a Queen Elizabeth-class or something british of the sort. Really nice to see a ship with a more realistic shape in an FTD series! Let's hope this one lasts until the end of the game.
Though, with a further away look, it does have a New Mexico / early US battleship upper hull... Hmmm

Put the tiny simple weapons in the divots.. that’s what they are meant for in normal cruisers and such to house smaller guns to help with faster pt boats and such
Lathrix, you should make a destroyer similar to the USS Zumwalt. It's basically a destroyer with a MASSIVE power bank that houses the US Navy's experimental railgun. I'm thinking a really high-tech destroyer with shields and such but NEEDS a dedicated power station because it has almost only batteries. Having one EXTREMELY powerful railgun (max shell size with one barrel) is mandatory.

What do you think about a weapon system like the Better Future retractable turret? The weapon would have a super slow reload rate in exchange for better damage. When it’s reloading, the weapon system retracts into the ship or moving armor comes up over the weapon to protect it. idk, just thought it was a fun idea

You could also have deck-launched torpedoes, which is actually really common in modern warships.
Amusingly while the railings do indeed take up a lot of space, they're hilariously good ablative armour against Hesh shells.
Basically, they'll instantly die to them, but they'll cause the fragments to spawn instantly and do basically nothing.

That hull is based off the Warspite class British Battleship
The Warspite was a Queen Elizabeth class battleship first seeing action at Jutland, she was the second of the class the others being Queen Elizabeth, Valiant, Barham, and Malaya. Queen Elizabeth, Warspite and Valiant were extensively refitted between the wars and Warspite went on to win the most battle honours of any ship in the history of the Royal Navy before being scrapped in the 1950s (not without a fight though)

6:43 Lathrix, that IS a turret, you can even see the weapon controller behind/on top of it!
As I say later, it is clearly supposed to be a turret, but it doesn't spawn in with a turret block so it is a static prefab. I use them as turrets by adding a turret block myself, that is all I meant there :)

The reason why the turret block isn’t loading it’s because it’s a separate object and due to how they do sub objects you have to place the turret block first so it would be able to spin independently.
I think for the prefab turrets it's fine if you put them on a turret base

If you want some good ideas for broadside designs, check out the Neptune-class battleship and its staggered turret layout.
i would remove the single barrel cram cannons from their current position and instead mount more of the double barrel cannons along the centerline, also you should add the simple weapon case mates all along the edge of the ship
I have been thinking that circuit boards could be used to adjust mortars so they can hit targets in different ranges.
Is it possible to make a big ship that makes small battle boats and the boats are made in inside the ship so like there is a huge hole/gate like a arch where the boats go out off and what do you think of this idea?
Possible but complicated. Basically you can hold the boats while they're being built but the moment you wish to release them you have to either stop or get very lucky with the collisions. You've got a decent chance the things get obliterated the second they try to leave the main ship - which is why most planes are carried on top of the deck and a couple of metres above it in FTD
@@Negniwret what if you put the docking thing on a piston that extends when the boat is ready, releasing it when most of it is already outside the construction ship?

I've just been through the dev test branch build menu and i came across the walker legs and i instantly wondered whether you would be able to build a walker?
Make an insanely large railgun that tears apart huge ships in one shot and build a hull around the gun.

The mystery block is a turret block, but the guns are saved as prefabs so when you place them they arent there because its just the blocks, and not the subvehicle
That of course makes sense - However the cram prefabs are clearly saved as a subvehicle, as are all other turret prefabs in the build section, this is the odd one out and the sudden change is what makes little sense as clearly It's not an issue elsewhere, as the build section can clearly use both sub objects and standard prefabs.

Umm... Lath you might want to look again at your turrets (9:39) it looks like the turret has ammo ejectors on it. I might be wrong tho.
You should make a ship that looks like a civilian ship then all the weapons pop out at the start of battle just a cool idea
I really wanna see a certain weapon/ship design that would maybe give you a new experience in weapons and it would be cool to see. Image a high velocity cannon with either rapid fire and smaller bullets or single shot with a much larger bullet, but the thing is that theese bullets would have VERY high armor piercing, and little to no explosive power. If you used a high fire rate, it would be a barage of bullets that rip through all of the ships internal mechanisms, but if you choose one big shot, the it would be a railgun like bullet that would peirce a hole through any part of the ship it hits.
I just really wanna see you try something new like non-explosive bullets

Here's a stupid idea.
Make a spaceship that carries drop pods. You climb into one of the pods, launch it, and arrive on the battlefield in style. Like respawning, but fancier and way less practical.
