- DIY Tornado Flame Lanterns. In this video I show you how I made these Tornado Flame Lanterns using 2 glass vinegar bottles, 2 aluminum cans and a 6"x6"x1-1/4" block of wood. These lanterns work really well in windy conditions, the more wind the faster the tornado will spin.

Next project build a worktable with your logo?
Also you could rout the cavity for the fueltank into a bigger biard that is screwed to a table and then cut the small board from that. This might be a litte safer than your routing method.

Great, is the direktion of the rotation important or the same for the flame? I mean in the case of water is the tornado only in one direktion.... or?
No, the direction of the rotation can go either direction depending on how you position the glass pieces. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!
Im in Germany here the water flow is like the clock goes... Is the flame beter with the clock or against the clock.... That's my opinion?
@@jorgplietker6347 When I was building it before I made the base, I used welding gloves and held the glass so I could move the glass pieces around to see what worked best. Mine seemed to work a little better in a clockwise direction but that might have been due to the wind direction during my outdoor test. When I tried it in a controlled area (my garage) it worked in both directions and looked the same in hight and amount of rotation of the flame. So I they will work in either direction, I just chose clockwise because the wind direction and the way I was holding it that day during my test.
They also worked great on tiki torches with 1-1/2” bamboo but they are very top heavy and need to be secured very well and driven into the ground really good.

Could you put anything at the bottom of the aluminum can to prevent the alcohol from splashing to easily?
These lanterns are meant to be stationary, so I haven't had any problems with the fuel splashing. You would probably have to design a different fuel container with a wick like a tiki torch container to prevent splashing or spilling. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!
You might just put cotton balls soaked in alcohol. It won't splash, but probably will have a bit of soot and ash.
Will the flame get taller with a taller glass, or do you need a taller glass and more fuel?
The flame will get taller with taller glass but it will consume fuel faster so I would recommend using a larger fuel container if you want a longer run time. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!

I don't sell them yet. The ones I built in this video will only burn for about an hour. I'm planning on trying to make some that will fit on tiki torches for longer burn time. If I can get a 3-5 hour burn time then I might start selling them. Thanks for watching!

Random question, where you getting the lithium for the red flame?
I cut open a AAA lithium battery and I only used a small piece of lithium about 1/4"x1/4" to make the flame red. I hope this is helpful. Thanks for watching!
